    Every game that has a PVP mode has an algorithm. You have to overcome it. Some of you are in denial. How many times have we seen same pokemon showing up in sets and as soon as you counter it. You never see it again. This happens too often to not notice. People complain about the PoGo Algo being too aggressive, to the point where its unfun. You have to count to win. Energy is crucial. I get bored of counting and sweating every game playing the same meta pokemon over n over in different order.

    By calling it algorithm we add to the conspiracy.
    Every PVP game has a matchmaking system.
    The point is where does it ends and turns into match fixing (illegal?)
    With an advanced queuing system with filter options it’s not that difficult to program an R
    SP algorithm.
    Niantic is trying to control everything to slow down progress and stimulated engagement so why not this?
    Note that typing as basis is hard because of dual-typing more likely it’s charged moveset.
    If paid_customer and moveset GW add que .soft_counter else que .hard_counter (GW=Grass/Water in que round robin based on winrate)

    • @YasserAleed

    Actually coding an algorithm for countering would be super easy. You just asign a character or number to each of the types and kind of an "if" formula. If a then b/c/d (types weak to). It could take into account maybe the lead pokemon or the most amount of the same type in your team or whatever. The thing is I do believe there has to be an algorithm just to balance out how fast you can climb to not brake the game and avoid just everyone getting to Legend in their first try. That's what elo system based on MMR games do.
    What I think could be really clever is that what actually gets you climbing is your ability to beat the counter, which in this case it does depends on the "skills" of the game. Smart switches, counting, attacks in middle of animations, knowing the pokes and it's moves, etc. Here you don't have to code anything other than a counter algorithm that activates the further you get above 50% winrate, and leave the rest to people able to win against it. When i get a 4W 1L set or 5W, it's usually by beating one or two hard matchups, never by just stomping through it all.
    It would actually be much more harder to code an algorithm based on skill or the timing of your attacks so you can be paired with the same skill level players, specially in a game where you can get a loss just by pure and hard bad luck with triple counters. Of course you can do your best trying to beat it, but two shields will never be enough in that kind of situations. What makes it more suspicious to me is that I've seen several accounts that get capped near to 50% of winrate when actually trying to climb and using well built meta and anti meta teams but landing in different elo after lvl 20.
    On the other hand, I actually think it would be pretty smart for niantic ecnonomically to do this. You'll test more and more combinations of pokemons just trying to overcome the counter you're getting, which translates in more time searching for those pokemons, spending stardust, candy, and more likely, money in the game to accelerate that process. GBL is so repetitive and random that I would just stop playing after reaching the elo I want, or even better, intentionally get my elo to the ground so I can farm stardust and candys at will when paired with actually low elo players. This kind of prevents it making synergy with the daily limit.
    BUT, the thing that I think makes it hard and unbalanced is that the game forces you to play the meta relevant pokemons, which adds a layer of difficulty to the game for the more casual players, leaving out the posibility of playing maybe with your favorite pokemons, or just the pokes you're able to get (specially knowing how bad the cheating is). I would really love something like an arcade mode playing vs bots, maybe even changing theme with the current season, creating even some cool stories and symnbolical rewards. Or if thats too much, just adding some kind of strategy like preparing your team order before the match, or picking 3 pokes out of a bag of 6 after watching each others bags. Right now, and actually since the begining, the "randomness" and fog around some things like CMP tiers and IV impact just makes it feel sluggish and unpolished. People have to actually "discover" this things rather tan the game giving you the tools to understand them by yourself. If it wasn't for RUclips, or freaking genius dudes on reddit, something like 0/0/15 IVs coul'dve been something I couldn't be able to discover by myself.

Matchups were the opponent survived with one HP and i loose the battle. Coincidence ? Why can i climbe one day and the next day, the Team is not working ? Lead lost. Safeswitch lost. Then the second I completely switch team, and wigglytuff in the lead I start meeting.... golbats in the lead? 3 in the same set? Hadn't seen golbat in a long time :p its because of fairy being weak to poison.
    I have so many similar examples of this. Completely switching teams and starting to see completely different pokemon.
    That being said, you can flip matches. So to be able to advance you HAVE to learn to overcome the obstacle. When you become good enough the algorithm will matter alot less.

    Your analysis is missing data. Even anecdotal data is better than no data. I believe there is an algorithm that considers your team (and moves) to find your opponent. Anecdotally, I’ve seen this more often when I’m on a winning streak and then I start to encounter teams that beat mine consistently until your win rate goes back to ~50%, then you start to see more random teams. If your win rate goes too low, then you get matched with opponents that are countered more consistently by your team. Even random teams (aka, not meta) would eventually settle in around 50% win rate, which is very difficult if you only match using MMR

I still find it hard to deny such claim for many reasons: 1) Niantic lost the trust of player base long ago starting from banning remote raids and everyone went not paying niantic a penny so trusting their words is not credable anymore. Lastly, even if assume no algorithm and its all our skills as many claim, how is that going to explain many other stuff supported by data such as critical times lags, bots, cheats that know opponents teams and many more that break the fair play system and that's why wolwer stopped as well as many others.

And when you do get the big climbs with 5-0s, you are now at a higher level facing more competent players who have also been winning a lot to get there, and maybe you are not as good as them, so you go negative the next set. • @babydollbecca
      @babydollbecca 24 дня назад +5

      @ThaPosterboy25 I'm glad to see conflicting opinions.
      I was on the fence about an algorithm until the discord exploit came out. I was already aware niantic is using Ai for quite a few things and it clicked. It'd be easy for the movesets to be fed to ai for matchmaking. We have gym algorithms and raid algorithm for teams.
      Of course people can overcome bad leads or having the underhand. It gets old having the elitist pvp community shooting down every obvious thing.
      We have as much evidence of there being an algorithm as we do evidence there isn't. Making a 100% statement either way is 50% to be wrong. Yasser is a great battler but I think he needs to research a little more into the company as a whole, exploits and their tech.

    • @ThaPosterboy25
      @ThaPosterboy25 24 дня назад +3

      @babydollbecca Agreed. I think the best players are the best players because they can overcome bad leads and make plays average players can not. Thats why they reach legend.
      A lot of this video was opinion based. A lot of hard work went into slides that were based on his opinion. Love Yasser but this video was all his personal belief.
      I've reached legend before and I usually always hit expert but it wouldn't be right for me to say there isn't a matchmaking algorithm involved.

    • @babydollbecca
      @babydollbecca 24 дня назад +2

      @ThaPosterboy25 In my opinion, it's actually smart to have an algorithm. It'd be so boring if there wasn't matchmaking of any kind.
      I stopped doing GBL regularly because I was getting too annoyed with losing to lag. or bugs. I liked to occasionally delete my saved teams and challenge myself by using the recommended teams. it'd get silly, but that's honestly where I'd see possible matchmaking algorithms. Even in Ace, I'd see things that no one was using until I'd delete my recommended teams.
      I appreciate Yasser's battle videos and the time he put into his charts, but you're right, it's all opinion based. we'll never know whether an algorithm exists until niantic admits it, or some type of exploit exposes it. Which I honestly hope happens because Twitter gets toxic with the "you just suck, get gud, there's no matchmaking algorithm."😅

      @babydollbecca I agree. I have made some pretty dumb teams before when I was tanking down for go battle weekend and the game would still find that random team I should beat because I'm tanking. Your repeated assumption Niantic doesn't have the time, resources or capabilities related to these topics, & that everything they say is gospel truth & would never lie, & that the reason why there's no algorithm is because players just need to "get good" is willful blind ignorance. This is the problem with hyper optimistics in this community. They so desperately want to always look on the bright side of everything they make excuses why a multi million/billion dollar company are incapable of ever being dishonest &/or malicious. Honestly it's a very unhealthy way to view reality, especially given Niantic's overwhelmingly terrible track record.
