We used the signal panel in the boonie hat when I was in the Air Force. But my view is that if I’m wearing camouflage tomorrow, it’s because the S has HTF and none of my friends own an AH-64 or AC-130…therefore I’m probably not going to be trying to draw attention from anyone in an aircraft.

Morning mate... German Afrika Korp was the first I know of that used signal panels inside their hats as a standard item....

If you do a lot of remote wilderness survival trekking and you expect to need a S&R team to find you when you’re lost, it might have merit.
