- Willie, Sarah and their dog, Jack Spaniels, continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to 'Live The Skye Life'!
In this episode, the 'Skye-Lifers' move on from their shed build to the real project - converting their 200 year old byre (outbuilding) from a damp, cluttered storage space to their dream painting & music studios!
Next up is the interior space - we need to construct a new floor, with a little help from our friend Iain and his rescue greyhound, De Niro.
We also take a break from building work to clean up our local beach and recycle ropes and nets into plant pots, with Skye Beach Cleans, Ocean Recovery Project & Ocean Plastic Pots!

You should think of putting in French drains round the building diverting the rainwater

We buried big o underground under flow areas. S giant black perforated flexible tubing. Kind of ugly but you bury it and it carries away water from heavy rainfall.
The berms you built will help too.

So much hard work but so much achieved in every respect. I much prefer your channel to watching anything on TV. Jack Spaniels seemed to be finding bits of wood to chew or covered in sawdust - he’s a legend in his own canine world.
Incredible work! The construction went quickly. Willie, I have a true story about some friends that came together to build several geodesic type structures for a homeless camp. They toiled many hours and when the finished they realized they had put them together inside out! The panels had to be taken apart to install correctly. Several sheepish construction type volunteer guys dutifully spent another weekend making it right!
You are always forgiven for mistakes outside your skill sets!
The beach cleanup was phenomenal GOOD ON YA!

I'm also amazed that you'd even open up your life to thousands of people and I for one am grateful for it as its thoroughly entertaining. @Living The Skye Life just to let you know, a mouse can squeeze through a hole the size of a pencil! You might want to think about adding a finer layer of mesh to the air brick
The mesh is only a couple of millimetres wide - less than a pencil width 😊👍

Try steel wool, @arbonite is correct, they can flatten out, squish and get thru amazingly small spaces. I know cause I've had it happen to me in Florida. Then again florida rodents and bugs are in a class of their own.

I love that Highland Council are getting involved. They cover a massive area, bigger than Belgium. Logistics must be very difficult.
There still is some holes through where the new roof meets the stone on the back left.
I was going to mention that as well.
Well spotted!! That bit was actually filmed before Richard came back to put the concrete back on the roof to seal it. That was in last week’s episode, as we film lots of stuff at the same time. All sealed and watertight now!!

You did a great job on the floor even if you did make it harder for yourselves by missing the insulation but its done now. Great job on the beach clean and a bonus of two lobster pots, a crate and a fishing lure. It sure looked better when you were finished. Well done that lady with her quad and trailer and it was nice of her to drag that heavy old net across for you. Stay safe all of you and I can't wait for next week now to see what you get up to.❤

Great job with the beach cleaning!! Thanks to all participants. Living in Florida, I've done my fair share of beach cleaning too. It's very satisfying work. 😍 The byre is looking good. I was so happy to see that the original plan was to put down insulation first along with the water-proof membrane. Much better! 😉 I hated to see the video end as I was looking forward to seeing the 5 days of Ian's visit. However, I'll just have to wait until next week to enjoy the rest. I live near a waterfall and in the summer people jump off it into the water, & leave rubbish, I take bags & grabber to clean up, the council men sit in the truck to take it away. They said that it's not there job to clean the river

Did out the back and put in a drain that goes to a pipe that comes out a little bit from the front of the building.
