Orchestra: Shanghai Symphony Orchestra conducted by Xieyang Chen
Based on Chaozhou music from the coast of the East China Sea and Yi music from the mountains of southwest China, this is a brilliantly fun piece evocative of wild festivities. Arranged rather symmetrically, it begins and ends with a grand slightly menacing theme that is quick to fall over on itself. Padding this theme are absolutely exhilarating percussion solis at 0:34 and 7:28. Forming the next section is use of the full orchestra in a similarly percussive manner, together with a delightful scherzando theme (I particularly love the string glisses at 1:28). The next section consists of a soft lilting woodwind and string melody interrupted by a rude staccato theme in muted trumpets and horns. The center of the piece is a beautiful free section at 4:20, strongly evocative of a mountain landscape, that leads into an expanded mirror of the first half of the piece.
(4:58 rather reminded of • Jade Moon Upon a Sea o... from Genshin, actually also recorded by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra)

Happy Lantern Festival!
Yuan Xiao Jie Kuai le! 元宵节快乐!
Are you a Chinese?
I am surprised that he is not better known. This music is most entertaining, and the musical narrative makes sense from beginning to end. This is about as popular as modern music is going to get. A nice blend of the Asian and Western styles.
I’m still not yet over Cmaj7 writing descriptions
Haha, yeah, I decided to start writing them, at least for some pieces
I love how you compared 4:58 to Genshin Impact. That soundtrack is absolutely beautiful.
Yes, the music and scenery from that game is wonderful, especially Liyue's.
My favorite Chinese composer. Greatly appreciate you sharing these scores!
Being a European and brought up on the music of Brahms Bach and Mahler, when I hear this music, I feel that my soul is burning with the flame of an Asian dragon: Deafening drums, heart-rending harmonies, an orchestra gone mad
This is quite unlike anything I've ever heard before, with complete interruptions and rather strange instrumentation (as compared to the west). I do fancy it however, it sounds like something you might hear out of a mixture of a Miyazaki film and Charlie Chaplin short. Thanks for the upload.
Incredible happy I found this! The percussion sections are so full of energy and power just as much as this entire piece itself. Spectacular music!
Overwhelming piece!
Just Amazing! Very funny also. And innovative!
That percussion section solo though.
what a legend
I fucking love this guy
Delightful piece, love it!
Fantastic.....
I love this. I can't find the score and would love to study this closer. Anyone have any leads on the score? Thanks
I adore this piece! Would anyone happen to know if score and parts are available to purchase?
Master 👏 6:56
Not that i have something against other contemporary music but who thought it could still be this beautiful? There are great other works that are well crafted or genius or interesting, fascinating whatever but how beautiful is that for "contemporary" classical music?
I was actually impressed by how consonant this contemporary composer is
@@alejandrom.4680 I more find Zhu Jian'er to be very pragmatic with his use of harmony and timbres. This is a festive piece, based on traditional melodies. Its use of generally bright consonant harmony conveys festivities, but the grand theme has some rather harsh dissonances.
If you compare with his symphonies, or _Wonder of Naxi_ for example, they exploit quite a lot of dissonance.
Give me more drums
I dunno if the score of it has been uploaded yet, but can I suggest the suona concerto "100 Birds Pay Homage to the Phoenix"?
By which composer?
@@Cmaj7 Wang Jianzhong, I suppose, but I don't know if there is an orchestral version
So paradoxical that some parts sound nearly Latin American-ish
0:02 Roman Trilogy?
LOL GENISN IMPACT I CANT
The recording is a bit.... badly produced :( such a waste for this good music
