W S Gilbert knew what is wrong with today's politics: "I always voted at my party's call, And I never thought of thinking for myself at all. I thought so little, they rewarded me By making me the ruler of the Queen's Navy.
Gilbert gets a lot of credit for his witty libretto and humor both sly and broad in his characters, but Sullivan's no slouch in that department either. I trust you've all noticed that the five-note figure at the end of each verse in Sir Joseph's signature tune-- "Of the Queen's Na-vee"-- is also the first five notes of "The Sailor's Hornpipe." Sir Joseph has a thing for hornpipes: he's dismayed that Rafe can't dance one for him on deck, and we later hear of him obliging the Captain to perform one on his table below, much to Josephine's chagrin. I'll never be able to prove it, but I am convinced Sullivan started out with that five-note figure and built his entire song around it.

I liked this Sir Joseph from the moment he entered. It takes generations of British breeding to wobble the head that way.
this is one of the best songs in musical theater

This is the best performance I have ever seen.
"The Queen's Navy." That phrase has been true for a great many of the years since HMS Pinafore was written in 1880 :)
I love this performance. Everything about his performance is perfect.
"I always voted for my party's call and never thought of thinking for myself at all". Sounds like modern American politics.
Anybody who got the mRNA 💉
Best " Sir Joseph" I've seen.
@ErisTheVorta :) good ear! The orchestra had its moments during that production. It IS kinda cute sounding.
Jean-Luc Picard would make a wonderful Admiral. James Tiberius Kirk is far superior as a Captain, however.
No, its Sideshow Bob!! he is the best
Why is this guy hurring like he has a train to catch?
Pinky and the Brain brought me here with a Meticulous Analysis of History.
Tempo was a bit fast, but nevertheless a great performance.
excellent, it gives my i am sheldon the very model of a big bang genius general ,,parody on my channel another angle
What did the director think "the pass examination at the Institute" meant? That someone was examining their passes? Dear oh dear!
***** I think they meant to infer that he cheated by looking at a paper with the answers on it under his desk. :)
Did a flute blob in?

Very good but I prefer John Reed
Poor choreography
So you would have said to Mr. Gilbert himself, no doubt. My bet is you have no idea what you are talking about with regard to Gilbert and Sullivan.
Poorly acted.
I totally agree
