Nemuri is 'sleeping' in Jp. She is Mayuri's dream, as a scientist . But like what he said, "you can't dream while awake" , as dream only occur when sleeping. So by calling and nicknamed her, Nemu, in his perspective , he already achieved his dream. Thus, he no longer need to call her "sleeping".
It's curious that Mayuri claims that «now he's no different than Zaraki», obviously because not only have they both (temporarily) lost their legs but more important than that, they've both lost their female companions/"daughter figures"...

It is obvious that mayuri created nemu way before urahara created ururu and jinta seeing as nemu is older than them both. So mayuri did in fact achieve it first while urahara probably created them both based on mayuri's success.

I always liked this fight in the manga and I felt it was one of the most fleshed out of the last arc. I'm glad it was given justice.
