Nope, you are right. Tech Spurt stating the image is pretty "clear", given his lighting setup, is pretty disingenuous. With the projector that close to the wall, the washed out image shows it isn't "clear" and will be terrible 8ft or more away. The low lumens output is a deal breaker, especially for a $900 projector.

It seems a very nice product. I would want to buy one once it launches instead of buying a tv, since I'm moving to a new apartment with a still empty white wall. So I do have one question for you: is the image good during the day without closing all curtains or do you need to be in a dark room?
Projectors are not as nearly as good in light rooms as TV's but there are some projector screens they you can buy that are supposed to make projectors more visible in light.
For best results - use with nearly dark room ! I have a 1500 lumens projector & the picture gets washed out with bright daylight coming through the windows - doesn't stop you using it anytime, just close the blinds. I think there are better value options out there - this seems a bit expensive for what it's offering.
Have just unboxed, have watched for a couple of hours. Assuming the room is somewhat darkened, not a lot, I was incredibly impressed by the picture, I am currently looking at about a 65" image. It looks simply brilliant. Brightness varies according to source and the source's source (news programs for example) but it is frankly better than I expected from the specs. The resolution is plenty good for my taste but I'm not a gadget guy attuned to all of the nuances or picture quality. I'm looking forward to having a try at 100". It can be a little laggy with the remote control but it seems to depend somewhat on distance and position. The automated keystone feature was at first disappointing, I expected it to have a bigger range for adjustment but once accepting the limitations and positioning the device closer to center, not projecting at too severe an angle, the keystone function works pretty well. Price-wise I compared this purchase to the purchase of two high spec, large screen Samsung or LG TV's for our place. Saved me at least a grand and I can use the projector for multiple situations, like having 3 or 4 devices. But it's early days, we'll see if it sustains it's appeal after a couple of weeks of use...
So have had device now for a couple of weeks. Like it even more now having adjusted to its quirks. Have projected image to 120", 20" more than the spec, amazingly good picture quality especially in a darkened room - brilliant!
My husband bought this for me for Christmas and I love it. However, it does heat up pretty good and if you're in a standard 10x10 room it will heat it up. The navigation is nice, but again as with most projectors it still can look a bit dull if you need to project from a distance (ex: backyard to house wall for movie viewing). I use it for painting murals on walls and it's fantastic and sleek.

Great review as usual Chris.
BTW Chris, what watch are you wearing?
Does it have airplay?
How long does the lamp last? Any idea how much cost a new lamp?
Hey, what’s wrong with Middlesbrough, lol….. Does it work well with an iPhone?
Can u use it on a dark wall?
How can you expect us to take this seriously when the company sponsoring this video is the company you're reviewing?
If you install Alexa, during the day time you can just ask it to play music. This should be the form factor for the Echo devices.
Looks brilliant what’s the price please
Honestly, I was kind of shocked when they announced the price. Slightly too dim for what they're asking.
Yeah 900 is ridiculous. You can buy a much better 65 inch tv for that price.
@@270Winchester Well, this projector is portable and that's its biggest selling point. But even so, you can get cheaper ones that are almost as good. 900 bucks is a lot of doe for what you're getting. There was a 1080p projector made by LG which had a much brighter picture but it wasn't portable and it was slightly more expensive than this one. It was ultra short throw so you could easily use it in your living room.
nothing you didn't like with the device? or anything you wish they did better?
Is plex included?
Got one today! The image is really clear! Does anyone know how to flip the image for back prohecting screens?
Does it support wireless DEX ?
In your video, it looks very washed out with white. Does it actually look like that? Or did you do that to the video?
Fellow Boro boy! I’m originally from Grangetown!
@Tech Spurt, or "community" will this device work on IOS ?
