    These things look awesome! I love Blizzard’s current offering, I’ve been shopping for skis for a year and it’s so hard for me to choose between the Brahma 88, Rustler 9, Rustler 10 and now Hustle 10!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      All 4 of those are great skis, but I thought maybe I could help by pointing out there's going to be a pretty huge difference between the Brahma 88 and Hustle 10. Brahma is so much heavier, stiffer, and more powerful, but not nearly as agile off trail. That's at least a good place to start to help narrow things down a bit. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

    After watching this review I bought a set of Hustle 10’s and mounted a Griffin on them. I am 165 cm tall 145 lbs. on a 172 cm length.wanted a soft snow/ travel ski to my quiver. Got 9 days on them.Four days at Loon Mt. Nh and five days at Park City and Alta, UT. Absolutely love this ski. Thanks for your review. The ski is very responsive and feels snappy. I was pleasantly surprised how well in held a turn on groomed terrain. Normally I ski a Rustler 9, Brahma 88 or Enforcer 94. I work in the ski industry so I have a few ski in my quiver.

      Hey Joseph! Yeah, it can be a bit of an adjustment coming off longer, narrower skis to the shorter, wider skis of today. That said, don't be afraid to go long with whatever you choose for new skis. If you're used to long skis, you can still ski long skis! They won't be 203s, but plenty of companies make skis into the mid-190s. Have a great season!

    Thanks for the review. Hustle 11 looks pretty sweet to me, as a wider, deep pow touring ski. I already have moment wildcat tour 108 w alpinist (pure touring) and BC atris with a shift (50:50) as my main touring skiis. I love the Bonafide and Brahma at the resort when conditions are hard. Cool that Blizzard also now making more of a chargey- backcountry oriented line, ie not just super light like the Zero G.
    Have you skied the Hustle with a pin binding vs a shift? Do you think the Hustle offers more float vs atris/ wildcat?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      HI Erin! We haven't gone back and forth specifically with a Shift and pin binding on the Hustle. Definitely would be a fun comparison, although I don't think it would drastically change the ski. It would change what you can do on it, so to speak, but the extremities of the ski will feel the same. I think that's actually a good way to think about customizing it to your own needs. It's a strong enough ski to justify a Shift and even use in the resort sometimes, while a more backcountry-oriented skier can put a pin binding on it and just have an efficient AT ski.

    Quiver might be Brahma 82(Pivot) - Hustle 10 (Shift) - Rustler 11 (Shift) by end of next season. Still have the OG Cochise (2013) with Barons but it's a heavy beast.

    Got a pair of Dynastar M Free 99s last year and absolutely loved them! Im looking to get something wider for deeper powder days and am thinking about the Hustle 11s. Do you think these hustle 11s would be a good compliment? Im only resort skiing as of now but love getting off trial into the trees and bumps.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      I absolutely LOVE skiing the Hustle 11 and think it would be a fun ski to pair with the M-Free 99. Super floaty and fun and there's even some freestyle influence in its shape and feel, which I imagine you'll appreciate given how much you like the M-Free 99. I say go for it. Rustler 11 is a great ski too if you want more stability, but I have no reason to point you away from the Hustle and it will actually feel more similar to the overall nature of your M-Free than the Rustler.

    So just received a pair of Hustle 10 188cm and comparing to my 2022 Rustler 10 188cm. There is a lot more camber which makes me wonder if it will be as loose as the Rustler. Against the wall, the ski is 1-2 cm shorter than the Rustler although both are labeled 188s. Finally, weight is about 1900g on my digital scale where the Rustler came in about 2200g on the same scale. Anyway, I was surprised to see the length and camber differences.

    This review is awesome. I am pretty much sold on the Hustler 10. What I try to get my head around is the AT binding. I am thinking about the Shift or the Fritschi tectonic. I understand there is a little weiight difference which I don't care but what about difference in ease of handling and reliability when skiing steep stuff. I read that the Traction needs sometime re-adjustments to fit. I am not sure it this is required when touring, I guess not. Anyway, do you have thoughts / guidance on this?
    Btw, I ski everything, prefereable steeps. I am 5.11 and 176 lbs if this is of any scale of importance. Thank you in advance.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      I think any tour binding can be finicky in its own way. We've seen some very high-performance skiing on the Shift, so I have no doubts or worries in terms of that ski's ability to perform. The nice thing about the Shift is that you can alpine ski on it with alpine boots while the Fritschi is tour-specific. Maybe that helps sway your choice?

    Hello, I am 5'11" 160 and I ski the rustler 9. I find the Rustler 9 too heavy for tight east coast trees (that I love). I did try the Kore 93 and the Kore is easier in trees.
    For tight trees, which one is better (easier) between hustle (9 or 10), enforcer Unlimited (94 or 104) or Kore (93 or 99) ? Kore seems a bit too stiff. Enforcer Unlimited is the lightest of those 3. Thanks alot for your help it is greatly appreciated.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +2

      I would say Hustle is the easiest out of those 3 because it has longer tail rocker. Hustle 10 would be the best, in my opinion, and is going to be a little stronger too if you're skiing it in the resort. Hope that helps!

    I did not realize this video came out 6 months ago. My 2 cents would be to take the Hustle 11 out but take them out when the hill is full of people.. It sure seams like they are quite similar to the Salomon QST 106 x 184 that I broke my arm on. I was worn out. They would go through anything. They were tanks. I would compare them to water skis.

    I have an older pair of Rustler 10s that I use in a telemark application. I got them specifically because it was the year before Blizzard "beefed them up", and I figured that would be better in my application. It seems that the 2022 Rustler 10 has been "de-beefed-up" to the Hustle model, to be a little more accessible to lighter or less accomplished skiers. Is that accurate? Or is it more of a complete departure toward touring?

      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +2

      I think that's a reasonable way to think about it, yeah. The Hustle 10 is "de-beefed" from the Rustler 10. I also think a good way to think about it is about a 50/50 split between those two things you mention. It is certainly more of a departure towards touring, but I think it's equally fair to say it will be more accessible to lighter or lower level skiers.

    Backland 100 vs Hustle 10? Which would you recommend for the conditions with the mixed icy/soft monguls described in the video?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      I feel a little more vibration damping in the Hustle, which feels like it helps in those mixed conditions a little bit. Backlands are lighter, so more efficient for the ascent, so it's somewhat of a tradeoff between uphill efficiency and a smoother downhill ride. Hope that helps!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +4

      Because the shapes are the same, edge release is going to be very, very similar between Rustler and Hustle. That said, because the Hustle is a little lighter, I think it's fair to say it will pivot more easily than the Rustler just because of the lighter swing weight. Edge release will be the same, but it will be less fatiguing to flick them around.

I want to be able to handle nasty chunder and still be playful. Think this will fit the bill or do you recommend something else like a Zero g 105 etc..

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      Hi Bryan!
      I'm worried about a performance dropoff from Hustle 11 to Zero G. The Hustle is very much similar to the Rustler, just is more reactive due to the carbon rather than the metal. There's no real weight advantage to Hustle vs. Rustler from a touring perspective, but it is a far, far better ski experience than Zero G. I'd take a look at Atomic Backland 107, Liberty Origin 112 BC, and Nordica Enforcer Unlimited 104 for lighter, more smeary skis that have a better blend of uphill efficiency and downhill performance. Have fun!
      SE

    • @bryand6094
      @bryand6094 Год назад

      @@SkiEssentials ordered a pair of the backland 107's and the tail looks like it won't have enough rocker to be that smery playfulness I was after. I also picked up a pair of the origin 106's and they seem like they fit the bill but the 182's are substantially longer than the rustler 11 180s or my Enforver 100's 179's, So I returned both. Not sure If the 179 length with a 104 enforcer would have enough tail or width to fit the nitch I'm after. I would be sold on a "110 free" as far as weight differences between the ruslter 11 and hustle 11 interwebs is claiming a 400 gram difference in your testing was this close?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      I'm right there with you! I think Hustle 10 has a lot going for it--the 9 feels a bit more like a tour ski, if you want that width, I'd go Rustler. Ripstick Black has one of the most versatile personalities I've seen in a ski--a bit more damp than the green 96, but not overpowering. I'd say either Hustle 10 or Ripstick Black, with the Hustle shining in softer snow and more playful applications while the Ripstick is almost a wider and lighter version of the Enforcer 88. Have fun!

      Some people do it, and I'm not going to fault them for that! Personally, I'd gravitate to the 10 for a one ski quiver, leaving the 11 as more of a dedicated snow day ski, but that's just me and my preference for narrower rather than wider skis overall.

    So hard to pick a new pair of skis these days as there are so many great options. Which one would you choose for a soft snow day resort skiing and marked ungroomed runs: Enforcer Unlimited 104, Hustle 10, Volkl Blaze 106 or maybe Bent Chetler 100? I'm considering these to complement my Navigator 85 Ti which I really like for groomers and end-of-the-day groomers. I'm a lighter skier and I find the Navigators perfect in terms of their weight, which, I think, is around 1800 grams per ski, therefore for a wider ski I want something similar. Thanks!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +2

      I'd say it's more a difference in shape than anything else. Weight is fairly similar, overall stability is pretty similar. The 104 has longer tail rocker and more of a twin tip shape overall, which gives it a more surfy/smeary feel in deeper snow. Edge release is a little easier on the 104, while the Hustle 10 feels more precise. It's kind of interesting. I'd say the Enforcer 104 Unlimited feels more like if you could have a narrower Hustle 11 with the same rocker profile. Certainly in the same conversation, but the difference in shape is noticeable.

      More responsive as there's a longer effective edge in these skis. The M-Free skis are very surfy and smeary thanks to their long rocker profile, especially in the tail. They also have more vibration damping than the Hustle with the unique PU construction, but not as much as the Rustlers.

      Yeah you pretty much nailed it. We had a similar reaction to when we first saw them to be completely honest, but after skiing them, they do feel more like the ultimate 50/50 line and I do think there's a spot for them in Blizzard's collection. The Backland series is a good comparison. In fact, howe Atomic structures their skis is pretty similar to what Blizzard is doing here. Huge similarities between Backland, Bent, and Maverick, but they all have their place. Huge similarities between the Hustle and Rustlers, but again, they have their place.

      Spoke with a touring specific shop owner in north lake Tahoe who spoke highly of this series. He said the weight difference was marginal and the hustle performed better than the Zero G when it came to mixed conditions and gets deflected less. "Not as good" might not be totally accurate. He sells both models and they each have their merrits. Likely too that someone who prefers the Rustler shape and style would be happier with these rather than the very directional style of the Zero Gs.
