I agree, dont react to the meaningless dances for a class of Bollywood movies. They are there for others.

ah..damn..why does he go on babbling unnecessarily?Didnt he understand the question or what?Interviewer asked as to why some filmmakers are changing their film language to cater to audience for their commercial reasons..is that so tough to understand and Sen showing off goes on babbling about Lindsay anderson,British film movement, etc., and interviewer directly asked about commercial cinema, elitism of supposed parallel cinema and Sen again goes on a tangent again as if he loves his own voice until the interviewer gets impatient and starts asking specifically about song and dance in film..then sen gets to the point then too verbosely and surprisingly his opinion is very silly and even pompous...that in reality songs are not present ..so he considers it proper cinema only if it also happens in reality..and he earlier says Tom Jones is one of the greatest British film which has bollywood like contrived situations for our 'great' directors' information.. and even Lindsey Anderson's If i a highly improbable film..mostly a parable about anarchism and authoritarianism..So much of song and dance movies leave alone fantastical ones of parallel movies are stupid themselves ...great insights..even poor Kurosawa,Fellini's idiotic fantasies are nothing for our realistic genius....i I have seen other video of Kumar Shahani..and and even worse pedantic pompousness ..I am getting the impression that such pedantic show off seems to be the only common quality of supposed parallel filmmakers...my illusions are shattered about the artistic value of most of these self styled art filmmakers films or whatever they want to call themselves..

kanki you said something which i really had in my mind seeing the video some weeks back..infact i read sen's essay 10 years back where he was saying the same regarding lindsay anderson and others in Europe... illusions are there to meet in life..few illusions can be useful..?..sen's some films far strongly given the answers of the interviewer .. making films in india then and india now - is still singing and dancing.. on a tune of "sen's sensibility.. making him and others (even including his opponents) as saints..then i can tell you sometimes these interviews have so much planned answers ..i wish you all the best..and thank abhijit pb for such upload..is it the complete interview ? in another channel wildfilmsindia i seen some interview of sen.

@@gauravdas22 Oh yeah. Then what should I do?Worship him blindly? There is nothing wrong in criticizing anybody even in too straight a manner and I think it is too much needed in India. In India there is too much of this worshiping gurus. Both communists and non-communists.Only difference is communists do too much of it and camouflage it with jargon hypocritically..

why use words like babbling, pompous, and so on? That is his choice and his understanding of new way of film making, and you have the right not to like it but don't try to show off like a charlatan. It seems that you know so much and that's why nobody knows you or line up for taking your interview. You are just another armchair mr. know all. :)
