    "Impact Is Imminent" is highly overlooked. "Only Death Decides" is honestly one of my favorite Exodus tunes EVER (right behind "Piranha"). Such nasty riffs. Funny you guys mention Pantera at the end cause they toured with Exodus during the "Impact" album cycle.

    Tempo Of The Damned is my number 1 Exodus album because of just Three songs: Forward March, Black List and specially Shroud Of Urine. The Long Guitar Solos of these songs just blew me away. I think the guitar solos of these songs are the best guitar solos of the entire Exodus discography. After all those years since the album released, still I don't get tired listening these solos.- Alekhin, A 56 years old Metalhead from Bangladesh.

      Force Of Habit is a monster album!! I don't care at all what others think about him, he is one of my favorites. The HH team tore apart the solo on every song, real thrash riffs for the whole hour, Tempesta's second album he recorded and it's great, and Zetro, who I'm not a fan of (Dukes is my man), sang perhaps the best on this album. I've always loved Gary's riffs and Rick's solos...

    can't decide if Bonded by Blood or Tempo of the Damned is my favorite. Obviously Bonded by Blood is the classic to end all classics, but man for a more "modern" album tempo of the damned is fantastic

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  2 года назад +1

      Necrotic Nick- I kinda knew Bonded By Blood would be my favorite since I've been jamming that album since I got into the band. It was probably the 2nd or 3rdone I ever got honestly. I like Tempo because it's a solid comeback album that re-established the band but I think they did even better after that one.

    • @nelsonshuchmacherendebo7688
      @nelsonshuchmacherendebo7688 2 года назад +3

      I think the contest for the crown is really between those two, man. Bonded by Blood is just so perfect in the way it captures an entire sound concept, culture, time. It's goofy as hell, so juvenile, but there is a fire in the performance and it rocks hard like almost nothing else. Tempo of the Damned is amazing, in some ways the songwriting is even better, but at that point thrash is already a thing with a certain format, so the album lacks that dangerous spontaneity of the debut. But it rules, don't get me wrong. Those are Exodus' two great records in my opinion.

    I love this band. They're easily a top 10 band for me and probably in my top 3 for favorite thrash metal bands of all time. I cannot wait to see this list from all of you.
    11. Force of Habit (Not bad, just kinda there.)
    10. Impact is Imminent (Same as FoH, but definitely some more standout tracks.)
    9. Blood In, Blood Out (Good record, nothing really bad, but nothing really awesome.)
    8. Pleasures of the Flesh (The first record with Zetro. Even though it is number 8, I still love this record and play it frequently. The production is not as good as Bonded or Fabulous, but I still believe the songs are great.)
    7. Persona Non Grata (It took a long time to get this record, but they delivered on everything that I wanted from an Exodus record: brutal, heaviness, great riffs, killer soloing, and awesome rhythm section. It has become my favorite thrash record from 2021. Great.)
    6. Exhibit B: The Human Condition (The last with Dukes, but what an amazing record. The opening "The Ballad of Leonard and Charles" is probably my favorite opening song from any Exodus record. Awesome record.)
    5. Shovel Headed Kill Machine (First record with Dukes, and it is a brutal delivering. I love every moment from this record. Yes, Rob's vocals are not what they would become, but everything else on here is spot on.)
    4. Fabulous Disaster (I can see why a lot of people would say this is their favorite. What a great record. Zetro sounds amazing. The production is an improvement from PotF. Great record. I can listen to this any day of the week.
    3. Tempo of the Damned (Brutal and vicious record. This is my favorite record from Zetro. The performances from everyone are perfect. This set the standard for what Exodus were going to do up until now.)
    2. Bonded By Blood (This, in my opinion, is the greatest thrash metal debut of all time. It is flawless from beginning to end. Baloff needed only this one record to be a thrash legend. I cannot say enough positive things about this record. In another note, I am probably one of the few that still really loves Let There Be Blood as well. But overall, perfect record.)
    1. The Atrocity Exhibition...Exhibit A (Unbelievable record. This record hit at the right time in my life, so it carries a lot of meaning for me. And again, Dukes is my favorite Exodus vocalist and one of my all time favorite vocalists in metal. Yes, Bonded By Blood is the better record, but this is my personal favorite.)
    Keep rockin Thrallers!

    God I love Exodus so much, I've been looking forward to this ranking for ages 🤣 They were such a huge part of me discovering thrash growing up. Started off with the big 4, then after watching a thrash documentary and realising that it's a much bigger genre I branched out. The moment I heard the opening of Bonded By Blood I was hooked, I still remember the first time I heard it like it was yesterday. However, I will admit I'm not the hottest on the Dukes albums, like a lot of people I'm not the biggest fan of his vocal style (I'm not really a fan of hardcore vocal delivery in general), so while I've heard songs from that era I've never sat down and given those albums the time they probably deserve, I'll probably use this as an excuse to do so!
    I'll give my ranking of the ones I do know and can talk about:
    1) Bonded By Blood (fucking obviously, it's such an important album to me)
    2) Fabulous Disaster (this album is amazing too, if it wasn't for the Low Rider cover it'd be neck and neck with Bonded, also a really important album in my life that I'll never tire of)
    3) Tempo of the Damned (I always get surprised when I remember just how good this is. I remember when I saw them with Testament in 2020 before Covid cut everything short and being in the pit for Blacklist, followed by Deathamphetamine I think. I thought I was gonna fucking die, or at least get a major bone broken. And I was playing a gig the following day so had to step out to keep myself in somewhat good shape 🤣)
    4) Blood In Blood Out (this actually has a lot of nostalgia for me, it was the released only a year or so after I first heard them and I had only heard Bonded and Fabulous by that point. Such a fucking heavy album)
    5) Persona Non Grata (not as strong overall with a couple of noticeably weaker songs but still heavy as fuck. Slipping Into Madness in particular is one of my favourite modern Exodus songs)
    6) Pleasures of the Flesh (a decent album but it's not one that I listen to and then think "wow I'm gonna put that on again")
    7) Impact Is Imminent (the first 2 songs are fucking awesome, the rest of it for the most part is kinda forgettable. It's got all the ingredients, it should be great, but the quality is just missing a bit)
    8) Force of Habit (I like Count Your Blessings and Fuel for the Fire a lot. The rest of it I can't remember a single thing about, other than it's just a bit shit 🤣)
    Sorry for the lengthy comment but I could go on forever about some of these albums haha

Those albums are definitely revisiting especially Exhibit B.

    I love these discography rankings so much because you guys complement each other and have honest (and hilarious) takes, which is important to keep a fresh view on metal history and the f***ing gatekeepers at bay. I commend this ranking in particular for singing the praises for my man Tom Hunting. Legend, icon and just overall badass.
    That said, regarding their discography: I have seen Exodus live many, many times, and I love them to death. But as far as their records go, to me they only ever made two great ALBUMS: Bonded by Blood (Nick, I agree with you 100%, it's perfect and one of the great metal records of all time) and Tempo of the Damned. Those two records are superb in their variety and cohesion. At the same time, I do think their two best songs are on Fabulous Disaster: the title track and the Toxic Waltz, but that record as a whole is really incoherent.
    Beyond this, Exodus has made a lot of fun tunes with great riffs and headbanging moments, so they could play almost anything in the catalog live and it would be great. I don't love any of the Dukes era albums, but when they play tunes from that era live, say Deathamphetamine, I am right into it.

      Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! We love hearing feedback like that. We try to keep it fun and loose but also informative and reinforce that it's just an opinion when it comes down to the rankings. People are going to like what they're going to like. Diversity is disagreement after all. Honestly, I like pretty much all the albums outside of Force of Habit. They're a pretty consistent band and Bonded By Blood is a flat out landmark album but I think they have other great ones as well. I think the Dukes stuff as aged pretty well too especially Exhibit B. They did play Deathamphetamine when I saw them and the crowd went apeshit for it. lol

    I have been a fan since I got into Thrash in 87/88. Top 4 are easy. Bonded 1, Fabulous 2, Tempo 3, Pleasures 4. After that it gets difficult. There is alot to like on the recent albums and the Duke albums but I find the songs to be to long. The only albums I don't listen to are the 2 early 90s albums. Anyways I missed the recent tour with Testament and Death Angel (2 bands putting out albums as good or better than there 80s albums) because they sold out 2 nights in row in Joliet.

Right after this video I went back and listen to both Fabulous & impact and while I could listen to every song with no isssues, there just was nothing that really catches my full attention besides the songs I already liked. Thanx Miller for mentioning Brain Dead. My favorite track off the Pleasures album, with Deranged a close 2nd. My favorite Exodus song is one that rarely gets recognized. The most evil song they wrote that gets no love. That being "No Love." The acoustic intro provokes images of fairies and unicorns frolicking in an enchanted forest only to be demolished in a heartbeat by a juggernaut of pure hatred, death and destruction. Leaving behind a scorced, smoldering landscape home to only undead zombies wandering aimlessly through the thick fog of stench belched from the depths of Hades

    I was really interesting to hear your takes on Force of Habit. Zetro even tries some melodic singing! The Black Album changed the landscape of metal and rock music. All of the subsequent output by thrash bands had them trying to pump out a radio hit or MTV music video. There were some gems that came out during those few years but a lot of inferior music. I agree that Countdown and The Ritual were a few exceptions. Nuclear Assault's Something Wicked was pretty decent. I find that time period of music very interesting to look back on.🤘

    • @Longlivedolphnigga
      @Longlivedolphnigga 2 года назад

      The Black album did change metal but Metallica did good job on the album. Was it balls to the wall thrash? No, but it was definitely a heavy album I feel like it’s gets alittle too much shit. Because I promise you if the black album flopped people would look back at and be like “hmm you know that record wasn’t awful, pretty underrated”. But honestly force of habit really didn’t go down the black album path, it was like some weird groove metal shit.

    • @brianarkham1789
      @brianarkham1789 2 года назад

      @@Longlivedolphnigga Yeah, it was a big gateway album for me. These days I tend to only listen to the non-radio hits from that album like Holier than Thou and My Friend of Misery. A lot of those songs were overplayed on MTV and stuff. I don't think Force of Habit went do that same road but it was a glaring departure from their previous albums. My point was a lot of thrash bands decided to go in a different direction on their post 1991 albums. Overkill and Anthrax both changed. So did Sacred Reich and Testament. It wasn't all due to the Black Album success though. Pantera had a lot to do with it too.

    Saw Exodus with Napalm Death on Shovel Headed Tour Machine tour, met Paul Bostaph and Paul Gibson and they're very nice dudes. Also later on the Rust In Peace anniversary tour with Megadeth and Testament - met Gary and he was also a very VERY cool dude. They all seem like a bunch of sweethearts who write the most violent thrash!
    I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't love Bonded By Blood - the production is thin and I don't like how the vocals are produced. But those tracks performed later with Paul Baloff on the live album really show their full potential as bangers for the ages. I wish they didn't fall into the trap of excessive song length and repetition in later era albums.

I knew about them but for one reason or another just didn't get their stuff but when I did I pretty much got all of it... even Force of Habit. Bonded By Blood is still one of the best thrash albums ever made in my opinion but they've made a lot of killer albums as well. I think they should just at least make it a Big Six and throw in Exodus and Testament since they've kept that Bay Area sound going all these years.

      Necrotic Nick- I think I might go with Testament a bit more in terms of consistency but outside of Force of Habit I love pretty all of Exodus's albums.

      @@thrallsofmetal Yeah I know not a lot of Exodus fans are not a fan of Force, but I really liked that album. As for Testament, I really dont care for Souls of Black or The Ritual. I love everything before and after those 2 albums.
