Hi Michael, Where I live pothos is impossible to buy. It is nowhere. Today I went to my friend's house and saw a big, healthy pothos plant! He gave me a piece. I am about to propagate it now.
Hey I have a question please Soo I'm tryin to make smthing like an aquarium with a bottle I have some algae growin in a bucket outside I grabbed some sand and some of that algae and putted some water so if I put a fish there will it survive? I mean will the algae provide enough oxygen for it or I gotta buy some water plants?
MAZE oxygen getd in water mostly through water to air surface exchange in aquariums. So, as long as your aquarium has access to air the fish will survive at normal room temperature. Algae and aquatic plants provide some oxygen too. Also, they provide food, water filtration, and plants serve as resting places for fish. Aquariums need plants. You may get aquatic plants from local ponds, lakes, rivers and friends (just ask).
Hello, I’ve seen your videos and I’d like to say that you’re very helpful for providing lots of information on these stuffs, especially the video about the golden pothos, etc. Thank you for sharing your research and knowledge...I just bought an aquarium and I’ve been hearing that you shouldn’t add any fish until after 2 weeks? Can I ask why? Sorry for this question, I’m just starting but thank you anyways!
Hi there! It takes a couple weeks or so for bacteria and microorganisms and plants in a new aquarium to establish healthy balance. Adding large creatures too early makes it harder for those creatures - there is not enough bacteria to handle the large amount of waste produced by large creatures and etc. Most microorganisms have short lifespan. So, in two weeks time many generations of those tiny critters born and die going in cycles constantly improving the aquarium. The healthy ecosystem of any (even well established) aquarium is not permanent. It's ever evolving. So, in emergency situations you may have no choice but to put fish in a new aquarium regardless whether it is ready or not. And it would be alright. I have a couple spare nurseries ready set months in advance ;) All the best on your adventure!
I would try any moss I can get my hand on ;) Though, only some of the mosses I've tried so far grow underwater. Some may stay alive for long, almost an year before the die. @@ShalkiZS The narrowest side of any aquarium should be at least 3 times size of the fish. hmm...algae growth can be controlled. I have videos on this playlist about it: ruclips.net/video/sWorOPpkaQY/видео.html But, what you need to do is to clean the moss again and reset the nursery with clean water at first signs of spoiling. Check this video to see how I handle it: ruclips.net/video/DWWGfuozMUk/видео.html All the best!
I buy food at grocery stores and restaurants that often comes in all kind of plastic containers. Many of them are re-usable. And surely you can buy them in bulk.
Everything you put in aquarium have affect of fish. Moss is not exception. Moss has the same affect as plants do on fish. Fish can eat it, use as place to rest, moss takes nutrition (waste) dissolved in water, moss produce oxygen and so on.
Yes! Land mosses grow underwater continuously all year around. Here is a playlist of all my videos about growing land mosses underwater: ruclips.net/video/7uvdkfOJL8U/видео.html

There could be many reasons...Moving fish into a new aquarium is always stressful for fish to the point that it could kill the fish. It's better to use water from the old aquarium or make sure the newly set aquarium sit for more than 2 weeks before you add fish. Also, be mindful about fish size - the narrowest side of any aquarium should be 3 or more sizes of the fish. Check this video for more details: ruclips.net/video/Gbdmf66XUSQ/видео.html
@@sabankhadka7849 The short answer is Yes. But it needs to be clarified. There is no such things as without filter :) Plants, algae, bacteria and such are natural filters. Natural filters are the most efficient in this regards and they are fundamental. They take nutrition (waste) from water and fish eat them. Man-made filters cannot do both ;) and the used (dirty) filters end up back in the nature to be taking care by again algae and bacteria :) Aquariums are limited in the space and amount of critters and plants that can be cultured there. It takes time to learn how to keep it in ballance. Each aquarium is unique! Some of my aquariums fail. It helps to learn ;) Check videos on this playlist about how to keep algae grows under control: ruclips.net/video/sWorOPpkaQY/видео.html All the best!
He can keep cherry shrimp alive in something like that but I can’t keep them alive with filters, food, test strips, and all the other requirements to keep them healthy😭
There are many factors at a play when it comes to keeping/ breeding any creatures. Using man-made equipment that by default is designed to copy the Nature is more difficult than allowing the Nature to do the work. So...I would suggest you to start with some simple setup with aquatic snails and such just to see and learn from Nature. I have many examples on this playlist to get ideas: ruclips.net/video/21pYJhslUmA/видео.html And you are in middle of the best season to try it ;) All the best on your adventure!
Hey, I have a question. What is the purpose of the moss on top? I'm following every single step including the one I'm asking about. I don't mean to be disrespectful, I'm just curious. :)
The moss on the top grows in high humidity without getting much of any dirt tangled in it as it would exposed to open outdoor environment. As the moss gets longer you may trim it and place into aquarium (underwater) without need to wash it. Which is important - any organic dirt in the moss may cause spoiling when it placed underwater. And there is another point - it looks nice on the top of the aquarium and can be served as housing for terrestrial creatures as shown in some of my previous videos. Here is one for example: ruclips.net/video/XwvgdMdarwg/видео.html
I breed a strain of dwarf guppies. In regards to the size, the goal is to get adult fish up to 2 cm. As of now the average size of adult fish (male/female) is about 2.5 cm age of 1-2 years old :)
I don't really know what to say about gravel to make a video about it :) I use regular gravel, rocks and seashell that I find by Hudson river and shore of Pacific ocean
Not all land mosses grow underwater. And even some samples of mosses that I've been growing previously may die. Discoloration is one of the signs. The bad small is the most noticeable sign for sure in this regards. As I mentioned in previous comment- I have a playlist of videos with useful details to check. This video shows the dead moss and how I do about spoiled samples: ruclips.net/video/DWWGfuozMUk/видео.html
Most land mosses that I grow underwater do not look like Java moss at all. They don't branch the way java moss does and they do grow in long strings toward water surface - never spread as carpet the way java moss attaching itself to gravel.
Just drop pictures on any online service and share link here. Or even better make a video and post it on RUclips - I watch and many other RUclipsrs would like to see it too ;)
those are not "aquariums". hope you've stopped keeping fish in jars. those jars are way too small to keep any fish even guppies, small shrimp like you have are okay though
Thank you for your concerns. And I truly hope your fish lives long and very happy live in the enormous size aquarium you built for that fish when it was a baby. And as your fish grow bigger as it lives longer you may realize that the enormous size aquarium is not that spacious anymore... and you need to build a larger aquarium...but how much larger? And then you may come back to my videos and check how to calculate the minimum size of that aquarium based on the fish size. And you welcome.
@@4me who said I built an enormous aquarium? Im just saying these jars you put your fish in are too small. Guppies come from rivers in South America they don’t belong in jars. I never said they need to be in 400 liters. Don’t act like an idiot

In 5-6 cm jar, with moss downside, 2 live grass and a plant (I don't know it's name, but leaves in heart triangular shape and red-pink colour in between). I thought I have not to transfer them. But I'll. Should I feed micro worms to them? But will it turn into a big worm or any bacteria? Thanks for guidance!!💗💞💓👏👏😝😋😍💃😘🙇
@@ShalkiZS The narrowest side of any aquarium should be at least 3 times size of the fish. Fish fry growth fast and you will need to transfer them in larger aquarium than this jar as soon as they get grown to the maximum size of that jar. So, start working on building a new large aquarium for them now ;)
Nice tips
Thank you!

I try it but al
l of my plant and nurserys get algae and they destroy at all (good video)..
hmm...algae growth can be controlled. I have videos on this playlist about it: ruclips.net/video/sWorOPpkaQY/видео.html
But, what you need to do is to clean the moss again and reset the nursery with clean water at first signs of spoiling. Check this video to see how I handle it: ruclips.net/video/DWWGfuozMUk/видео.html

How do you obtain those plastic cups ? Are they available in market ?
I buy food at grocery stores and restaurants that often comes in all kind of plastic containers. Many of them are re-usable. And surely you can buy them in bulk.
I should see this before I bought moss spores.
Better late than never.

@@4me Thanks Michael.

Does the mosses affect fishes ? Because I am trying to do it. Thank you
H
Everything you put in aquarium have affect of fish. Moss is not exception. Moss has the same affect as plants do on fish. Fish can eat it, use as place to rest, moss takes nutrition (waste) dissolved in water, moss produce oxygen and so on.
The Moss is perfect to cover the walls os acuarium
There are many different types of mosses to choose from for that matter ;)
Can I keep this moss alive for over an year under water in aquarium
Yes! Land mosses grow underwater continuously all year around. Here is a playlist of all my videos about growing land mosses underwater: ruclips.net/video/7uvdkfOJL8U/видео.html
There is lots of moss on my roof outside my window
That is unlimited supply for your aquariums :)
Can you make a video on how to culture maxiworm for turtle
Sorry maxilworm
I certainly will try to make a video about them once I find them ;)
does moss required direct sunlight
Nope. Indirect sunlight would do and only indirect sunlight for aquariums with fish should be used.
Is that fern moss? I have used the same one but the moss have started becoming darker in color and also smells very bad.
I about identification of mosses - it could be very confusing. Though, I am certain that bad smell is a bad sign. Most likely the sample is getting spoiled and needs to be either disposed of or cleaned up. Check this video for more details about it: ruclips.net/video/DWWGfuozMUk/видео.html

in my bottle aquarium i add 2 small fish male and female with money plant and moss .. but one die some how i dont know .... can you tell me plz

@@4me thnx love from nepal...💜💜
.. and you are asome .
sorry but .. i want to ask you one question . can only land moss and money plant can keep fish survive without filter.?
@@sabankhadka7849 The short answer is Yes.
But it needs to be clarified. There is no such things as without filter :)
Plants, algae, bacteria and such are natural filters. Natural filters are the most efficient in this regards and they are fundamental. They take nutrition (waste) from water and fish eat them. Man-made filters cannot do both ;) and the used (dirty) filters end up back in the nature to be taking care by again algae and bacteria :)
Aquariums are limited in the space and amount of critters and plants that can be cultured there. It takes time to learn how to keep it in ballance. Each aquarium is unique! Some of my aquariums fail. It helps to learn ;)

@@4me .ok sir .can we find seed shrimp and snail in flowing river.?
He can keep cherry shrimp alive in something like that but I can’t keep them alive with filters, food, test strips, and all the other requirements to keep them healthy😭
There are many factors at a play when it comes to keeping/ breeding any creatures. Using man-made equipment that by default is designed to copy the Nature is more difficult than allowing the Nature to do the work. So...I would suggest you to start with some simple setup with aquatic snails and such just to see and learn from Nature. I have many examples on this playlist to get ideas: ruclips.net/video/21pYJhslUmA/видео.html And you are in middle of the best season to try it ;)

We're can I get moss ,do you sell moss
I do not sell.
Look in your local parks and around trees on streets, some can grow around your house and in your backyard ;)
Would this work with salt water. I want to create a brine shrimp ecosphere and thought moss might work?
I don't know of any land plants that can grow in saltwater.
I think that seaweeds on the other hands may do that trick for your purpose ;)
I don't know about mosses in the ocean, but I do know there are saltwater algaes.
Thank you.

Why your guppies are too small, adult one too? My fish are bigger in size.
😧
I breed a strain of dwarf guppies. In regards to the size, the goal is to get adult fish up to 2 cm. As of now the average size of adult fish (male/female) is about 2.5 cm age of 1-2 years old :)
plz make video on ..aquarium .gravels... plz

I use regular gravel, rocks and seashell that I find by Hudson river and shore of Pacific ocean

Also why is my moss u der water getting brown I took it from a wall
Not all land mosses grow underwater. And even some samples of mosses that I've been growing previously may die. Discoloration is one of the signs. The bad small is the most noticeable sign for sure in this regards.
As I mentioned in previous comment- I have a playlist of videos with useful details to check. This video shows the dead moss and how I do about spoiled samples: ruclips.net/video/DWWGfuozMUk/видео.html

@@KitCat666 I've been thinking about making video recordings of tiny critters of that size. My cameras cannot pick it up. What equipment do you use?

Why do they look like Java moss😶
Most land mosses that I grow underwater do not look like Java moss at all. They don't branch the way java moss does and they do grow in long strings toward water surface - never spread as carpet the way java moss attaching itself to gravel.

those are not "aquariums". hope you've stopped keeping fish in jars. those jars are way too small to keep any fish even guppies, small shrimp like you have are okay though
@@reilley7734 I am sure you did not build a small aquarium to speak of your experience for that matter.
The origin of guppies makes no difference for fish bred and grown in aquariums for more than a half century. Speaking of jars you again missing the point of fish size in the references to the tank dimensions.
As for the rest...you just been rude - I don't have any desire to continue any conversation with you.
