- In this video you get to see some hot fishing action and an in depth how to on catching with hook and line, maybe the most underrated fish. They are great fighters and taste delicious as well as make great cutbait.
I have a couple women in my family who catch them off the bank in the Suwannee river with cane poles and some chum. Good work!
Thanks for the video. I've never seen it done like this. Excited to try it .
I couldn't help noticing the litter. Please share the location, I will GLADLY pickup and PROPERLY dispose of the garage. I actually enjoy it. Keeping garbage out of our rivers, lakes, creeks, bays and bayous is my passion.
Saint Johns river Florida
Great vlog, very informative. I was searching for easy way to catch mullet for bait and ran cross your vlog. Good stuff. Thanks for posting...!! Peace...
Thanks for this video from France
Nice Catch!!!
Spinning with a mepp and ragworm is a great way to catch mullet
I fish for them using flat cork also on the chum i add a little bit of flour to make it stick better.
Just watched mullet video it reminds me of carp fishing chum and all
Dang that is a sweet rig I have some ideas for some chicken rigs using that knot by the hook thank you sir.
Thanks. Yes I have used this rig in many ways
Good👍
You ever try this for finger mullet and down size the hook and cork? Great video and really informative!
I have not, but should work. Mullet are strange though. It seems they don't bite like this everywhere
@@mgsfishing I'm up in the panhandle, gonna give it a shot.
Hello. I really admire your video sharing creative ways to fish for mullet. Can you share details about the ingredients used to make bait for mullet? Thank you very much.
Great video idea. Subscribe to channel and turn on notifications. That video is coming!
Would like to know what size hooks you used in this rig. Thanks
Great fishing
I use gamakatsu size 1. Octopus hook. Not circle. But I have used other hooks. The key is small and short Shank. Avoid light wire hooks because the mullet will bend them out. I have found the smaller hooks sneak into their delicate mouths better.
Next time you go there, would you be able to clean up the trash that others have left? It's so sad when I see fishing spots get trashed because others don't clean up. I know it's not your job to do it, but I'm sure someone would appreciate it. Plus, it will be a clean spot for all
It's the city and county Job😂😂
@@tdaniels9263 well clearly they aren’t getting to it if it looks like that. It wouldn’t even take an extra 5 minutes of OP’s time
@jessicaho19 your right , I clean my fishing spot as well
Is this in Florida? I catch them with hook and line in Florida but I don’t recognize this place, and I’ve never heard of it being done anywhere else except Georgia.
Saint Johns river Florida
I try bread but never hook them . There’s massive mullet here upto 58cm . Friend of my just using 3 hooks and yanking them when they group up .
Wat are u using to chum with
The row mullet should be bitting now. I normally go to weeki watchie/Mary’s fish camp
That looks like the Sanford side of lake Monroe
Do you have trouble with hooking turtles? There’s so many turtles in our river that it seems like they’d Beattie mullet to it.
Great question I think where I'm fishing happens to have such a strong tidal flow that turtles really aren't a problem
Do you think using white bread as bait would work as well as the fatback?
@@walden6272 Anything white will work once you have them chummed up and although white bread may be something they want I'm sure it would be difficult to keep on the hook. Look up a RUclips video of mullet feeding and you will see how quickly of a mouth movement they make and so they can be notoriously hard to hook
@@mgsfishing Yea, they are hard to hook. I was out fishing and saw them jumping out the water and was trying to catch them but they wouldn't take so that's why I am researching how to catch them. Well, thanks for the tips. I'll give your method a try.
I was told that mullet fish are full of small bones, may I know how you made them for your sandwiches.
@@jtarryohpengyew8173 You can fill a them like any other fish or when you split them open and smoke them you can then eat the meat off with your fingers but I wouldn't say the bones are a problem
What’s in the chum that you throw out in the water?
Chicken feed mix with oatmeal and water
Would sweet corn work as bait?
Im sure it would because a lot of people just use white pieces of rubber
Im knew to thisvhow do I put the cork on
some corks have a slit up the side you can put your line in and then use the black stoppers to hold in place. others with no slit in the side you must put on first before anything else and then put in black stops to hold it in place on line
Where can you find chicken feed at im ftom portsmouth va
Any farm or feed store should have it
istg right handed ppl get my ocd but like im able to use both hands but right hands get me ocd
Hi There
Can you send thru you recipe to smoke the mullet. Thxs
There isn't a wrong way. But I like it spicey so I use salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Go easy on the cayenne. Butterfly the fish open, clean out stomach cavity very good. Lay scales side down on smoker on aluminium foil. Keep heat 200 to 250 and smoke until desired doneness. I like the meat to flake with fork
Thxs all the way from Australia
@@leewood509 wow cool!
Hi!Do you think it can work the same and for the sea fishing(sea mullet i mean)?
I would think you could get them chummed up the same way
Where are you fish at
st johns river in Florida
If pork works you think chicken skin would work?
I think anything with a white or cream color probably would
...fatback...do you mean salt pork...?
Thats probably the same. Where I'm from, thats what we always called it. Not much pork in it, just fat
Salt pork is typically pig's belly in the grocery store. Fatback is a slab of salted pure fat from the back of the pig.
Bread instead worms is not OK
Love all the trash, way to keep your fishing area clean, people suck
Stopped listening when you said you don't like fried mullet...
Dealbreaker huh?
@@mgsfishing let’s just say, I wouldn’t trust anyone that doesn’t like fried mullet to babysit my kids! 😂😂😂
