Never knew the background to the Cenotaph so thanks for posting. This year is especially sad as the Veterans cannot march past & each year their numbers fall even further, saying that I'm sure they'll be there in spirit. Its a pity that they didn't mention that its a larger version of the original cenotaph in Southampton commissioned by mayor of the City in 1918 i think it was ....the mayor of London saw it and asked if he could make one for the capital
