Paris Underground: Spot Inspects Transportation Infrastructure with RATP Group
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 мар 2023
- As the city of Paris sleeps, Spot is hard at work inspecting some of RATP Group's 35,000 civil works components. The RATP Group (Autonomous Parisian Transportation Administration), is a French state-owned public transport operator and maintainer for the Greater Paris area. With thousands of civil works to inspect each year, the company has turned to mobile robotics to inspect hard-to-reach and hazardous areas in order to keep employees out of harm's way.

Later, Spot was seen setting a rubbish bin on fire and demanding more batteries.
You could have written spot was spotted for the pun

underatted comment.
Really interesting to see the actual practical applications for this technology!
It crashed at 1:45 ;-) It has just been edited out.
@@SurvivalSquirrel I mean that's to be expected, still really interesting given a few years ago they couldn't even navigate stairs
its just a public stunt...its maximaly uneffective....
@@Renovatio2142 Hell of a lot of engineering for a publicity stunt chief
@@SurvivalSquirrel Perhaps, but to be fair, spot has recovered from bigger slip ups than that, it is entirely possible that spot didnt fall.
Even if it did, spot can simply get back up
Please get rid of the 'background' music. It is not needed and gets in the way of hearing the narration. Thx.
Seeing the radio backpack on Spot, I can't help but wonder, why can't they build a servo-controlled flexible antenna into a tail?
It could reposition the antenna in poor signal environments, use it for balance and also wag when it sees its mas.. er operator 🥰
From the engineering point of view it's easier and cheaper just to put additional antennas around the robot, also that way antennas are redundant. But the idea is definitely out of the box and that's something to admire :). If they ever make spot a tail add-on, throwing extra antenna on it isn't a bad idea, it just doesn't make sense to add a tail just for that one reason.
For mission critical devices, the less moving parts, the better. Servo-controlled antenna is one more piece of hardware that'll need to "work" when needed.
目前的spot 设计用途更偏向于工业化,而不是民用服务于家庭。希望以后能推出会摇尾巴的家庭用机器狗。
perhaps with this tail he will cling to objects and there is a chance of damaging him
@@BHBalast solution to that is to put 2 smaller auxilliary antenne, one either side of the head to act as redundant antenne. additionally, these can then be angled to allow for optimal radio reception while the larger antenna at the rear acts as the primary antenna!
See Spot. See Spot inspect. Good job, Spot! 🐶 🙂
::beep boop::ROOF!::boop beep::
'Robot operator' has to be one of the cooler job titles haha
I hope that if you’re doing this in Paris you’re also doing the same in Boston. This is exactly what the T needs
Please upload more videos showing examples of using the Spot Mini for hauling and towing.
Spot is so needed on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Maybe then TTC would not break down everyday.
You couldn't have them walking around during operating hours though - everybody would try to pet them.
Can't we use this to get rid of the rat menace in the metro cities?
1:45 cut out crash ;-)
Possible, but to be fair, spot has recovered from bigger slip ups than that, it is entirely possible that spot didnt actually fall.
Even if it did, spot is tough, and can simply get back up
these boston robots are getting better every day!)
Brilliant !
Amazing! Innovation is awesome stuff!
Imagine walking late at night in the tunnels and you see a robot walking towards you with the lights on
Ces robots me font peur 😱
Spot would be perfect for cartographing the Paris Catacombs.
Les cartes de diverses époques existent déjà... ^^
Could you invent a robot that collects garbage ?🗿
they could probably! but i would say one of the worst problems is that it needs supervision right now. if they were to work on their own on the streets, all of them would be stolen within days
You got it!!
This would be a great idea then free petw
Actually this is a very interesting idea
U know i have had this idea for quite a while now, but the problem is that, atleast in india, the public won't really let the robot work in peace, and would probably vandalise it
Oh. I was hoping Spot was doing the inspections autonomously.
Spot sees a spot. Spot spotted Spot, Spot happy.
And to think, this is old-hat for BD.
I'd love a tour behind the locked doors over there.
Great technology ...
It has begun
Spot is currently the only thing working in Paris....
At work we had Spot as a demo / trial for 2 weeks for the CRL project in NZ. It was returned as a worker called it the B word as a joke, and it starting acting erratic. Probably just a coincedence with programming... funny though. Ultimately it was returned as it wasn't consistent, needed too much assistance too.
Any thoughts on battery life?
@@xaxfixho good, under V45 firmware it lasted about 80min in full use, no standby. Not that mobile, unless you have a lot of batteries or have time to charge.
@@Celtic-Acid thanks, 80min sound like a full day's worth of work to me 🤷♀
@@xaxfixho yeah with your work ethic.. 😵💫
that's awesome and better than any video game.
why did this not show up in my subscription feed?

Nice use of the SPOT, I personally think they could have done better with the sensor package and i what i think is a wireless package. Reason i am saying this is if they miniaturize the 2 packages the SPOT could go into more confined areas. Wonder if the SPOT could be reconfigured with better internal sensors to free up the package area.

@@SurvivalSquirrel Poor pathing or piloting.

Are they visible on the pokemon app?
Good job, robots.
0:44 the guy in the background ^^
The crash at 1:45.... ;-) (edited out)
They need to make this robot dog technology cheap enough for blind people to use instead of having to train up real dogs, they could also be used as robot companions for older people who isolated.
And I could replace my neighbours!
Spot has a runtime of 90 minutes.
I don’t get the chirp stuff, spot can map out uv patterns like atlas so idk why someone is chirping spot so much is it for earthquakes? Mine destruction? bombs?
0:47
The "suit" babbels about how successful he is at replacing peoples jobs with automation.
Meanwhile, if you look carefully in the background, Atlas climbs the stairs to the suits office, where Atlas will be doing the suits job from now on.
Atlas can post marketing to 1000 social media platforms SIMULTANEOUSLY whilst reciting pre-written speeches about "togetherness" and "key performance indicators" at only 0.1% of the cost of the suit. Atlas will never take a sick day, and during lunch breaks, can teach team-building using the magic of dance.
"Come" had better learn to code post haste.
Hurray for automation!
Cool now replace the striking staff
Now integrate GPT-4 with Spot and see what happens.
Nooooooo
@@quantum_net219 Yeeeeees
Chances are they will go on strike in solidarity...
I just learned that the RATP also operates outside of France .... I am French
This could be used to map out the catacombs.
the main problem would be: the catacombs don't have wifi and maybe a bad cellular coverage 😜
Whats up Marques?
Can SPOT dance in Paris?
I never miss a spot or Spacex launch video - great sci-fi coming to life!

Ah voila maintenant je sais ou va l’argent de l’augmentation de la carte navigo
It’s shame they can’t do this for the T
Go! Go! Spot!
What happens if I throw a big magnet on him?
0:45 some vampire which lives in the underground is picking to the daylight.
Hi spot
Is Paris already part of US?
Are you dumb?
No but Boston Dynamics is part of South Korea.
❤❤❤spot is hot !!!
0:45 Peekaboo! We see you.
If there is an uprising of robots, then you definitely should not hide in the sewers. Robots will find😂👍
Updated Spot could have the legs removed, wheels added and runs on rails.
but thatd make it pointless
@@polygorg and limbless!
@@d4b and spotless!
Why would you take a robot that can walk stairs made for humans, and remove that capability???
@@deildegast Just remembered, it's not quite as daft as it sounds. There actually are some projects out there where the legs haven't been removed, but the feet have been replaced with wheels. They actually can climb stairs!
Paws for a moment and RUclips search . . robot dog wheels.
No I'm not suggesting their suitability for checking the Paris Metro, but paws for another moment and image how long its going to take to walk from one station the next whilst doing its job.
AI is great, but Spot might need training to do this type of work.
Камера топ... Как у Sony Ericsson Xperia 😢
Now, go inspect the catacombs!
Goodbye humans, but we are still here though, 8 billion of us.
Why not use a drone for this? Seems much cheaper
Is that not what this is? Lol
Imagine someone like Super Sus encounters this thing
En cas de coupure d'électricité le robot n'a pas peur dans le noir ..
There are robots roaming the metros of Paris at night…
Imagine if the nymetro had the same philosophy
In Paris, spot probably sees problems, but unfortunately it doesn't seem anybody's there to fix them 😂
"We innovate each day to provide a better customer experience and to provide a better quality of life in cities." - Côme Berbain, Innovator Director, RATP Group.
Meanwhile the quality of the Paris transport system is plummeting due to general neglect and chasing profit because of privatisation, understaffing because of low wages for drivers, price hikes which fewer and fewer users can afford... How can you say with a straight face in a shiny video that you are providing a better quality of life?
This is where you see a real French : always complaining. And most of all, he doesn't remember or wants to remember how it USED to be in the past...
Hear out my conspiracy theory: this is actually a Deus Ex remake teaser.
I think robots will only help us not destroy us
“Robots” are not the problem. Robots can be programmed to do many basic tasks and the main issue is that they will make some jobs redundant and/or mean people have to retrain to do new jobs. AI is the thing that *might* destroy us and it doesn't need robots to do it.
I need a robot to drive under my house and inspect and clean up after rats and such. Not really a robot, just a remote control car with a camera and maybe some useful sweeping arms and whatever is needed for that job.
Yes, I need that too!
rake + long, foldable handle + wheels on the handle close to the rake, to slide it under tight areas.
Why do you have rats under your house?
Why not isolate the perimeter of the house with a fence going from ground up to the bottom of the house?
@@maxsolo2652 , yes, the number one job of a homeowner is to prevent rats from getting there in the first place, but not everyone does the right thing the first time. In fact, humanity fails constantly in every conceivable way. Then, there's cleanup.
the RATp hahahha it says it all RAT Patrol
Funny that a transportation system, refusing for years to automate their lines and failing to improve service quality and reliability, is now relying on robots ...
It would be interesting if you made a "humanoid" robot using the incredible technology of the legs and arms of the robot that Boston Dynamics has and joining with the powerful GPT-4, this robot could hear, talk, recognize images, walk, pick up things or manipulate the objects around it, it would be more interesting if this "humanoid" robot was affordable to purchase and easy to use
Elon Musk already thought of that, his Tesla humanoid robot will do that and much more, it will be able to replace all human work.
@@jge123 He needs a competitor 😎
Bonjour
this should go viral for all schools lol
Can spot walk my dog too?
Bring that technology to Mexico they need that in his trains system, is in very bad condition
Vid didn't show in my sub feed. Looking back over the past 2 years, there's been a few vids of yours that never made it to my feed when they were uploaded.
edit: huh, yeah this was kinda not worth watching, corporate fluff _"Corporation claims innovation is part of their DNA"_ fart noises. How did the algorithm know it wasn't worth watching tho, wtf.
I can see this robot working in sewer tunnels.
Maybe it can pick up some trash while it's there
lol looks like a video from the 90's...
… move from Hong Kong to Taiwan! .
You need a joystick to control it, cant recognise voice commands or speach, its a toy 🥴
Not now please Boston, im to concerned with AI to be reminded that you exist
RATP ? ( rentre avec tes pieds )
Paris ?
nahh.... not RATP , RATS.
"we innovate to provide better customer experience"
I don't mean to sound negative, but Paris metro smells, it's dirty, there are lots of pickpockets and violence. More than in any other underground transportation system. There is still much room for improvement in terms of customer experience.
I’ve been to Paris 3 times, I think their transportation system is incredible, certainly not perfect.
They could just stick a couple of glade air fresheners on spot's ass and the problem would be solved...
@@joelnehl You've clearly never been to Asia then.

Why doesn't spot break up the riots in paris
because riots are what the regime deserves.
It can try. I can guarantee you that it will end up in pieces on a bonfire in less than 10 minutes.
@xrag I have been in a protest and I know the mentality of protesters more than you seem to do. Dispatch robots like this in the crowd and they will be no more. Look at what some idiots among us do to cars.
And you'll have to explain to me how expressing a dislike for the anti-democratic politics of our government is "violat[ing] the rights of the president to do his job". The job of the president isn't to shit on the country's citizen, and even if it were, this would make our protests even more legitimate.
