Where did you buy this
@@Lukas-me9 Walmart
@@AdrenalineIsLife Thanks man
I really think this bike will be awesome for riding pump tracks but it's definitely going to need some upgrades if you actually plan on jumping it
I was doing bunny hops in my driveway yesterday and it can barely handle that. Lol
It was surprisingly fast on the pump track.
ItS nOt ChEaP eNoUgH!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehe. awesome vid man. Just gets to a point where everything just isn't built safe enough. that fork is terrifying
-Brandon
😄 Hard to argue with that! If you want piece of mind, a bike that's been built enthusiasts and tested by the pros is always a good idea.
Quite the collection of bikes, jealous of even the chai ones. Raffle off this and the polygon, love them both.
Some of these bike definitely have to go. I have some plans. 😉
I just hit up Marsh Park yesterday for the first time! Such an awesome place and i can’t wait for them to continue to grow and develop it! As a bigger guy I would be interested to see what upgrading that bike could do to it. Sounds like a fun experiment to me!
Thanks for your suggestion. The frame is steel and does feel a little bigger so it might have potential for a bigger rider.
Big Marsh is such a fun spot!
Keep the bike and put a cheep rockshox fork on like the xc 30. It’s a budget fork designed from the pike chassis. It costs around $150 which puts the total build sub 400 which is really good. Then you should probably get a real bar and stem on it.
Thanks! I'm going to look into this.
You're thinking of the RS 35 series. Pikes are 35mm
Congrats on 2k subscribers!!!! Keep up the great content!!!
Thank you! 😁
Everyone is showing off this bike right now and my wallet is crying hahaha, as far as the fork goes I think it would've been better if they went with a rigid fork like the old 682 and the haro steel reserve 1:1
But if I ever get one first upgrade is definitely fork and stem!
Agreed. A rigid would fork would've been way better and would've lowered the cost. Fork and stem are definitely must do upgrades.
@@AdrenalineIsLife if you do need up upgrading this bike a truvativ hussefelt stem would probably be a problem good option I think they're around 30$
@@purplegarage05 Thanks for the suggestion. I definitely want to keep the cost as low as possible. Now if only I could find a cheap 40mm rise handlebar.
@@AdrenalineIsLife I'll keep my eyes out, a zoom hydraulic brake would probably be pretty good too.
@@purplegarage05 thanks
This seems like a really good bike to buy for those that don't want to ride bikes.
It's pretty crappy out of the box. I made some upgrades to it that made it better.. There are a couple more videos in the series

@@AdrenalineIsLife you should send it to sam.pilgrim and let him send it and see what it does. He loves torturing bikes like this.
Lol. That would be awesome. Too bad shipping cost is so high.
Definitely upgrade it - it's an awesome frame even it's is "Fapered" (I agree--- why??). ! I'm planning to pick one up for local dirt trails. I'd replace the headsets, stem, and front fork - Bucklos makes a DJ fork w/ lockouts for around $100 on Amazon. And better pedals and grips. I'd leave the stock seat, seat stem, handlebars, wheels, tires, drivetrain & brakes until they wear out unless an issue arises.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm thinking something similar.
Lol the frame is by far the worst part of this abomination. The rear tire should be nearly rubbing the seat tube
@@justinbogart278 not necessarily I’ve got an octane one and I don’t slam my wheels makes the bike easier to jump 🤷♂️
@@ruaraidh1257 sure an extra .5-.8 inch of clearance can be nice but this piece of crap looks like a 90s XC frame. i ride an NS zircus, same frame i think
@@justinbogart278 I moved my wheel in as far as can go now it’s almost touching the seat tube bike feels 10x better
26er straight forks can be found for good value on classifieds, could totally see this being a fun platform for a younger person to build on. You could buy a rigid fork for dirt cheap and then when you come across a nice Rockshox / Fox air fork for a 26er make the change. Though I see name brand dirt jumpers (kinda trashed a bit) go used for about 350-400 and that's where you'll probably be at once you pick up a decent rockshox/fox used.
Definitely. I did a follow-up vid and we installed a rigid. Used deals can be found on straight steer air forks since more DJs are going tapered. I did some more to the bike. There's another follow-up vid coming out next week.
@@AdrenalineIsLife I took a look at that video, 34lbs for this thing on a rigid fork, damn! thats a lot
It's a heafty bike
I have a Dj682 I’m glad it came with a rigid fork. Keeps the weight down and is much stronger than that suspension fork. I put a new bb, cranks, sprocket, bars, stem, and wheels. It’s much better. I’d slap a new rigid bmx 26” fork on it
We actually did several upgrades in a later video. The bike is much better.
ruclips.net/video/AeiBxtY65qw/видео.html
Nice, I also have a heavily modified 682. Really fun, the only thing original is the frame.
Keep it and upgrade components, definitely new fork, I bought this bike to upgrade. I think with some minor upgrades this will be a good daily rider. Mine only had minor scratches on the cheap fork.
Thanks for the suggestion. Mine had scratches on the fork as well.
Nice video! I think an inexpensive fork upgrade, with contact point upgrades and you've got a decent bike. I look at this bike as a great starting point for someone that can't fork out a lotta dough (sorry dad joke). This bike will bring someone hours of fun on the low low! Keep it and see what it becomes. I've got some inexpensive Walmart bikes that I love riding! My Mongoose Blackcomb is my current favorite
Thank you! There is definitely a market for the bike. The fork was definitely a must. I don't feel good about the cranks either. But for light use this bike will be good for someone on a budget. I have an old Mongoose Spear that is about 15 years old and it's still going strong. It has a surprisingly good spec.
Fireball. Been riding one for years
Great video man!!!! I really need to visit that pump track!
Thanks! It's a pretty sweet pump track.
Straight steer tube would look SO much better, at least 1 1/8 makes it easier to fit a rigid fork.
I agree. For people on a low budget, it's a better option. Otherwise its minimum $300 for a decent DJ suspension fork.
Awesome video dude very informative and entertaining thank you from me and my Channel ❤️🏴❤️ wish you all the best of luck
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 😁
So what should I do with this bike? Do I upgrade it? Is it putting good money after bad? Do I get rid of it? What do you think?
Put a solid fork on front so it’s stable and take it for a ride to get your own opinion and do some wheelies if can and if you don’t like it sell it and put it the money on another project but I would make a video and maybe get the viewers opinion. Cause maybe they might want to see the transformation.
@@phillipwilliams8805 Thanks. That's a good point!
It would be cool if you upgraded most of the parts on the bike and put the frame through lots of stress to see if it can handle it.
@@cavanparsons4593 That's an interesting idea. My bones and joints might hate me afterwards 😄
Upgrade the fork and see how long the rest of it lasts!
This bike just brings shame to the Mongoose Fireball... I don't know why mongoose did this when they had allready made decent dirt jump bikes in the past.
They could have made it so much better.
What to do with it? Upgrade and see how much it can improve and compare it to a bike that comes well-specced?
Thanks!
Big Marsh!
Awesome place!
i ordered 3 of these and all came damaged but after further inspection i knew it was garbage get your dollar$ back custom build will be cheaper and longer lasting because you will know what you have invested
Very valid point!
Well for 200 is very awesome bike... A cheap dj jump fork is 400 and a good one 800...so ... It's awesome... I don't get it the tapered non-tapered head tube..
It provides someone with a limited budget an option. It's better to be on any bike than no bike at all. 🙂
Proper bmx crank decent fork and decent wheels wouldnt be a bad bike
I agree!
JUST SUBSCRIBED!!!👍🔥👍
Thank you and welcome!! 🙂
Build I'd put Manitou new stem and bars
Oh man. A Manitou fork will add some cost to this bike. But I do have one laying around. Might be worth trying.
Put a solid fork on it and make it a wheelie bike.
so thus bike is $200 and other bikes you have recommended are $1000+ are there any in between? I don’t want to spend $1000+ just to enter into a sport but i don’t want to make a purchase i’ll regret later
$1000 is a sweet spot that will generally will get you a highly capable dirt jumper that you can do a lot of advanced riding. If you are just starting out you can certainly go cheaper. You can find some bargains on the used market. In the last Dirt Jumper buyers guide, I had some bikes under $1000. The Verde Radix and GT Labomba Rigid are very good. Also consider the Haro Steel Reserve 1.1 if you can find one. The Airborne Cro Hawk is just coming back in stock at retailers and is a very good DJ for about $750 and it has a suspension fork.
bit.ly/30SUWXJ
Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything in the $500 range short of just going with a BMX bike.
My eyes are always on the lookout.
I bought one and am trying to find forks for it it has the same problem
Lot's of choices out there. It improves the bike a lot.
Kinda bummed that I can't get it in the UK. Looks like it would be a fun project.
It will be an interesting project for sure.
I might move there just to guarantee that I never have to see this abomination in person lol be happy you can't waste money on this
I’ve ridden a mongoose dirt jumper before, had a better fork than this one, kinda why I’m looking into getting a dirt jumper lol, I’ll keep this one in mind and I will also look at forks lol, got any suggestions for specific fork upgrades?
I installed a rigid fork which made it better fot low cost. If you prefer a suspension fork, the Manitou Circus is a good inexpensive option.
ruclips.net/video/4W_QDZnqd-I/видео.html
Also are all the decals stickers or can they all be removed??
What size stem would I need if I swap out the fork with the ztz in your other video and what kind of brake Lever is on the bike I bought mines the other day I still haven’t got it yet imma buy all new parts for it and have my local bike shop change everything for me thanks in advance
The stock stem is 35mm and it feels pretty good. I didn't install a ZtZ though. I Installed a rigid. You might be thinking Evans MTB Saga. I think he Installed one of those forks. Enjoy the new bike!
Put a rigid fork on and make an update video!
Leaning heavily to that option.
is it good for skatepark and wheelies?
I think you can set it up as a wheelie bike with the right gearing. I don't think it's the best choice for skateparks. It feels a bit long.
i think the best idea is ridgid fork also.. Its just never gonna be worth it to build up this bike though. It may have been...if not for that head tube. If it was a straight tube, cool but I think its hard to get a pass on this. The blame shouldn't be on the kid who rides it, but it will be. Mongoose F'ed this up. Dj r pricey, some kids parents are gonna buy this who may not have the bucks for even a mid-level bike, maybe the verde theory. Other kids can be ruthless when it comes to a poser bike and sometimes bike self consciousness can hurt. Mongoose is doing team building, and they have a nicer bmx line, but how can this bike get respect with that design flaw? I prefer the huffy that chicken sendies built to this. SMH mongoose
Sadly they botched this bike. They could've built a great starter bike. Like you said, not everyone can afford to drop more than $200 on a bike. Plus you'll need to have mechanic skills and extra $$'s to swap the fork and cranks. At this price point it's better to just get a BMX bike of find a used DJ.
hey i just bought a mongoose pt26 downhill bike ,what size rigid fork should i get would the fork have to be a mongoose fork or that dont matter ????
You need a 26in rigid fork with a straight steerer. Axle to crown of about 420mm. There is no such thing as a mongoose fork.
What is the suspension travel limit is it is 100mm
It's 50mm
@@AdrenalineIsLife ok thanks for the info bro
You probably need a thicker springs in your forks.
Lol they don't make different springs for Walmart forks
how do you get it in the UK
I honestly don't know. They are sold at Walmart here in the US.
Lol where’d you find it for $200 at!?
Walmart
What’s the teeth on the front and the rear
36/16
Thanks I was thinking of buying this but it’s $350 on eBay and it’s another $12 cause of tax😔😔
@@Le_Papa That is way too expensive for this bike. Walmart will probably restock it soon.
@@AdrenalineIsLife what do you think🤔🤔🤔
Where did you buy this?
Remember when Moongoose was good?
I do! I used to have Mongoose mag wheels on my bike when I was a kid.
Tienen bicicletas usadas?
Is it still out in 2022 I'm trying to find my son one
It's still available at Walmart last I checked but the price went up.
are the wheels doublewall?
They look like it but haven't taken the tires off yet to confirm it.
@@AdrenalineIsLife i ordered one thinking of putting some maxxis holy rollers on it
The geo is attrocious.
How much does it weight?
ruclips.net/user/shorts3bzIDxCQaFg?feature=share
This seems like a great way to hate jumping and never try it again :p
😄
up grade the shit out of it and give it away to someone you find at a pump track who needs a bike
I like that idea!
dang that fork is all kinds of sketch!
It's so bad!
