Thank you you are the best I am a beginner I am completing my first pair of shorts using a pattern simplicity 1165 the shirts will now be a pair of pajamas I made a lot of mistakes however I learned from them thank you for doing the casing those were directions in the pattern but I cannot visualize it or understand it lol. I am teaching myself by watching RUclips videos and craftsy. I even bought a serger, last month I didn’t even know what a serger was I think I’m doing very well 😊🤩 I will be following. I Lost a lot of weight YAY I am also teaching myself how to alter or tailor my own clothes instead of buying new clothes I bought new machines.
The circuence of the stitched waistband should be equal to the circuence of the pant. You will not make gatherings along the waistband when sewing them to the pants waist. In any case, the trouser waistband should run freely along the hips when dressing. Focus on this.
I have had 1/2 of my colon removed n now have an ostomy bag right at my waist. I have to alter all my pants to go below that bag in front but have regular waist in back. I’m going to cut down front fabric n see how this works. Peggy Sue watching from Maine USA
Like I see sewed folded edges one second being sewn on the the top of the pants then all of a sudden she starts sewing again at the top but it’s folded ): I’m so confused
@@sewway OMG...I just checked out your site and I must say it's phenomenal!!! I am curious about two things in this video. What seam allowance did you use when you sew the elastic to the waistband. It looks like it's perhaps 1/4". And then, what seam allowance did you use when you sewed the waistband to the garment? I'm just trying to confirm that when you sewed everything together that you only sewed together the seam allowances, but you didn't sew directly thru the elastic (except when you did the vertical stitch on both sides to keep the elastic from rolling).
Place the elastic around your child's waist and stretch a little. Make a mark and cut it, taking into account seam allowances to connect the ends of the elastic.

Wow...learning to alter your own clothes instead of buying new ones. You sound awesome!! The environment loves you!!!!
Absolutely the best of the best❣️ Thank you❣️❣️
Thank you
Thank you for this!! I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to add a waistband without compromising the integer of the elastic❤️
Thank you
Thank you Super so much, I will subscribe to your channel. Now I can continue my sewing and finish my pants. Super easy now.
Thank you
Thank you so much. This just made it so easy!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have been sewing for years, but had never learned this great method.
Thank you
thank you so much for this! I bought a vintage skirt and it was too small for me, so making a new waistband for it :)
Great video. I'll definitely be making use of the info.
Thank you
Hi. It’s a perfect method. I like it. But what will be the fabric measurements if it’s a woven fabric ?? Thanks

@@sewway oh thank you for clarifying this. Thanks again

Thank you x

I’m confused about how to get the band sewn on to my skirt like is the skirt facing wrong side out? Is the waist band upside down?

Check out the same tutorial on my site, it's clearer there: sewway.com/how-to-sew-kids-pants-tutorial.html

😁
Nope. Can't start sewing the elastic on if I don't know how much elastic to cut.

This is too fast for me
Let's make a separate slow-motion channel for you. I was joking, I hope you are not offended
@@sewway 😂not at all
@@alexandratonico3662 you can set the video speed to slow motion or faster in the settings at the bottom right of youtube videos :)
