ABOUT UPROXX INDIE MIXTAPE:
Indie Mixtape is the go-to for all things indie music. We serve as a funnel to make sure that only the best music -- new and old -- is delivered directly to the people who care the most.
Indie is more than a music genre. It's a sensibility. The indie fan may be overlooked in our current cultural climate, but they're alive and well -- going to see live music, visiting art galleries, and prioritizing substance over facade. This is for you.

Yes I have, University of Alabama campus Foster Auditorium, January 1991. Westerberg said he was mega hungover but they put on a good show. The night before they played Tipitinas in New Orleans.
Yes I did back in the day. They were great.
first ave : PTMM tour, sold out home crowd (2 shows: AA/21+

I'm driving home one night @10:30 and this song comes on@ I'm saying to myself, Who the hell are these guys! Then I find out I missed them by 35 years!
Oh my god I've been looking for this forever I'll never forget my dad singing this growing up
that makes me feel old
You’re dad is cool.
Almost 40 years but still such a good band! Young bands come and go but the REPLACEMENTS keep rockin'!
It’s one of the best videos in our history because of the waiting with bated breath of what’s happening next factor! Then the kicking of the Stereo happens and then the brain 🧠 tries to process it! Great Video 👍!
Such an absolutely cathartic anthem with some top-shelf Westerberg lyrics
you mean westerburg as in heathers?
The best American rock band of the 1980s. I saw 'em in Champaign, Illinois in '85 on the "Let It Be" tour. Bobby wore a dress. Great show.
venue?
@@iggypopisgod9 Trito's Uptown. It was above the White Hen Pantry on Green Street. An Asian fellow peeled off a series of dollars bills onto the band. I asked Paul for a light after the show. I believe they played a pre-release version "Can't Hardly Wait" 'cause the riff got stuck in my head.
The Mats are like an universe when you get to know them, they have so many great songs, great albums. But for me this song is always their best song. Long Live Mats, Bastards of Young.
I like this version more than the other one, Paul’s voice is more clear and also stronger in this version.
Just discovered this today! 2020, and it's served HOT. Thank you KUTX. Super bloody tune man.
Best video ever made
I never really listened to the replacements. I like this band 🎶🎶🎶🎶
This is my favorite music video
Keeping my vinyl in egg cartons in 2020. Spinning my Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me album by The cure on my Pioneer turntable from 1983 as well.
great dbl
lp
Brilliant video, and not being sarcastic
Scott Hart It has to be one of the greatest music videos ever made.
I saw early Replacements before they fired Bob Stinson for drinking TOO much, if you can believe that. He played the encore in a big diaper...also this video is what I would do when I got back from the record store...put the album on the plate then sit back & face the speakers, listen while reading the album jacket in it's entirety
Nice background info 👌
this soothes me
When I’m in a nursing home this is what I’ll be listening to.
MAKE AMERICA THE 80'S AGAIN
nice!

My fucking favorite band...ever!
The biggest middle finger to music videos.
The audiophile flunkys are gonna have a cow if they ever see how that record player is set on those crates!
Best video ever. Fucking great!

Those of us to young to be boomers, too old to be millenials. Graduated high school when Jimmy Carter or Reagan was president.
X heads
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but The Replacements were Boomers.
@@UsernameInvalidTHIS you're right but their core audience and the people they relate to are the Xers.

There is some charm to it being sped up in the original video. Since they didn't want to shoot a video, and shot this instead, it being a little sped is like an extra "take that" to their label.
Here I sit, surrounded by vintage stereo equipment, listening to the The 'Mats.
I became a sellout decades ago, wanting more security over my life in exchange for my freedom.
An everyday job, in an everyday town. Same boring friends, same boring conversations. Stuck in a rut.
Here I sit and wonder where it all went fucking wrong.
ADVENTURELAND!!
YEAHHHHH
A classic
The pitch isn't sped up on this version. Was that intentional or not?
Why do I hear Kurt’s voice and “delivery”? 🤷♀️
kurt would have loved to write a tune this good
because his 18-yr self most definitely heard it?
A few years before Nirvana..
Betcha Kurt listened to them.
They were big stars in our circle.
Listen to
Kiss me on the Bus
You'll luvit
First! And it's not sped up!
Sounds like nirvana
