  • My planted tank was doing great, but I hadn’t paid it much attention and never expected my plecos to start breeding. The plants grew like crazy, and finally demanded some trimming. That’s when I found juvenile plecos living in the aquarium! In this video we take a look at the new babies and wonder if maybe a wild, planted tank might not be best!
One of my earlier videos on this species with great video of super fish!

I 'm in the same position right now. The Ancistrus are very dedicated parents, but they release the fry from the nest location once the egg yolk is absorbed and they are free swimming. The biofilm on wood is a main food in the beginning, but adding fresh greens like peas, cucumber and spinach is greatly enjoyed. Oatmeal flakes is another food they enjoy along with algae wafer pellets. Larger fish are a danger until they grow a little bigger, so pleco tunnels and caves are worth having.

Thanks. I was hoping this batch would make it through, using all the natural protection in the tank. Fingers crossed!

Your albino is the male and the commons are your females

Only the males have bristles which your albino definitely is... I let my fry growout for a good few months even longer but when the population starts to get crazy I'll pull as many as I can catch!! Hey buddy hope all is well with you, looking forward to more videos!!!!!✌️☮️🐟🌱

My tanks are OVERRUN with them. Brisselnose Placos. It drives me nuts. I would love to keep them but I can't stop the breeding. I want to buy a fish that will eat the babies what do you suggest?

Thanks for the video, John! I recently found about eight baby hillstream loaches in my aquarium, which was a big surprise.
