IfYou'reABird I'mABird The Outback has always been a term for the more remote areas of Australia. On the commercials they have a guy with an Australian accent. Plus their logo is supposed to be the Outback of Australia. Also you can check their Wikipedia page. It blatantly states it's an Australian themed restaurant. I'm American and don't really care about how real their food is. As the Aussie said, they do it to American cuisine too. However Outback is definitely trying represent Australian food.
What, they should lie and say they enjoy something they don't? This is meant to be a form of entertainment not a political statement. If you can't handle people giving their honest opinions about certain foods and chains existing in America, while also trying to deliver it in an interesting and humorous manner, why watch?
some four and twenty meat pies with tomato sauce and a Bunnings sausage sizzle sausage in bread for dinner with fairy bread for desert. Exquisite Australian dining.
I swear Americans are looking back at this comment like 'what is Bunnings and wtf is fairy bread' too save americans from there misery, Bunnings sausages slay.
Why don't they have Americans try "American" restaurants in Australia or other countries? It would be the same way with the Americans being like "oh this is just [insert country here's] terrible take on American food."
Southern food is the best food in America, and it's the real american cuisine, fried okra, chicken and dumplings, collard greens, peas made in a crock pot overnight, fall off the bone ribs smoked for hours, in America there's more than just burgers!
matthew cochran Yeah, we have "American" restaurants in Australia, and every other country. McDonalds, KFC, Subway, and it's all the same as in America.
What exactly is authentic Australian cuisine? I've never seen an Australian restaurant in my life. In all seriousness, what does a typical meal consist of for you guys.
Bruh, go to every buzz-feed video about "Americans try _______" and people from that country will get all prissy because "We Americans are ignorant little terms who don't have taste" oh and we are all fat. Are some Americans over board? Of course but that's doesn't mean that people testing the food need to be disrespectful. It goes both ways man, and I don't care if they don't like the food it's their opinion, but jut be courteous of someone else's food/culture. (Ik it was "Aussie" food, but you don't have to be rude with how u critically respond. Try new things, it's good for you.
Lol you did the exact same thing. You saying how Americans aren't happy with the insults but here you are being unhappy about it. Only reason Americans would be unhappy is because everyone video about this kinda stuff is where America gets a whole lot of shit.
LichKingBob oh my god but I'm not mad, i literally don't care. I'm just stating what's going on in the comments lmao, I find fights in comment sections hilariously entertaining. Get over it and go rub one out, You've got too much built up tension bye.
This comment section is just a big game of 'Spot the unaustralians'. Anyone who's calling them rude and it getting all butthurt is definitely not Australian. Newsflash, they're just joking around, Australians are all about taking the piss out of everything, so calm down :)
:3 yea i like aussies i feel the same way its how they are just like chinese they are blunt and loud and people asume that they all are angry and rude when they were joking around well thats one part of china
Us Australians enjoy mucking around... A little... Maybe all the time... Anyway, hearing those comments from a supposedly "Australian" style restaurant is appalling. A dry steak is not good. Barbecue sauce doesn't mean it's cooked on a barbecue. Come over here on a plane (not a boat), taste our culture and take it back
We sound rude no matter what we do (maybe it's the accent, maybe it's because we're more thick skinned). I love it though- can't imagine living in a country we're your offended by everything everyone says.
Wait do people actually think Outback Steakhouse is Australian food?? The only thing Australian about it is it's name "Outback" and that's it. I thought everyone knew that it isn't actually Aussie...
And how they try to use "Australian slang" in the menu. I never thought about it but really I never assumed anything was authentic Australian prepared, it's just a themed steakhouse.
I always thought it was just Texan food, until I started seeing the commercials with the Australian accent. It is basically the same menu as Texas Road House. But still I don't consider it to be Australian.
GenjiSleepsowo I didn't expect it's owners/founders to not have visited Australia I mean..that's just crazy...how can you open an "Australian" restaurant without even visiting the country!
I'm not Australian and I don't understand Australian sarcastic humor. To me, they're all jerks, especially the one throwing cutlery everywhere and stabbing the steak like a dumb ass!
Alvaro Favela I see your point but at the same time this is a BuzzFeed video not an actual restaurant. I can assure you we don't behave like animals in real life. And yeah the Aussie humour is pretty mellow and sarcastic, so I can see why people can misunderstand us :) But at the same time it's meant to be a funny video...
While I don't disagree that food from other countries made in America won't compare to the actual authentic food, a problem with all these videos is this thing called "confirmation bias." If someone believes/assumes something is going to be a certain way, that's what their minds and taste buds will concentrate on. That being said, I don't particularly enjoy Outback Steakhouse, but I don't hate it either. No one I know considers it at all Australian
The trouble with america stuff however is that it is often extra sweet, which is probably its downside... Its often not able when something gets brought out by an American company, the sugar is increased...
***** Foreigners are defined as people not born within the country. Australia has a relatively recent white population migration too, if I'm not mistaken. Actually, more recent than America's.
@as007 yeah there might be some really dumb Americans bashing this video but on every other buzzfeed video, there are so many people insulting us like crazy lol I just don't think people should take stuff like this so serious you know?
I'm Canadian and we Canadians don't think we are better than Americans. Actually we talk very nicely of you since you're all over our media and stuff. But then again Canadians are nice about every country. Canadians are awesome! Lol.
All these Americans in the comments saying how rude Australians are. We don't mean to be, it's how we're brought up. This isn't seen as rude at all in Aus, it's just banter mate
Raptor What is American cuisine?…I think their cuisine grew like from what American cuisine did..a lot of similarities, both countries settled and formerly run by the Brits, overtook the native populations and a mesh of what the immigrants from around the world that settled afterwards
Brett Clarke well yours must not be too special o.o we at least know foreign cuisine because we have alot of foreign resteraunts (plus we obviously love to eat...outback sucks though, that's like saying panda express is authentic chinese food)
Alot of people think we Australians rude, arrogant etc. But really it's just our humour, we take things light heartedly. We insult people, but in a friendly way, it's hard to explain but we dont mean the seemingly rude things we say... but I DO apologise for the guy in the white tee, he was a bit over the top.
MeticulousMayhem lol they think we are rude or arrogant because they don't understand our jovial ribbing of each other. America takes everything so personal.
MeticulousMayhem American here. I personally like Australian humor, and my Australian friends. I see one here in the comments saying Englishmen are the same way, I get along with them great as well. I'm not going to go "Oh not all Americans are the same" but I'm one of those that loves English and Australian humor :D
Blind and unbiased taste tests Buzzfeed! If you tell them specific details about the food, they will have preconceived notions and their judgement is already passed even before they see the food.
I totally agree with you, but the things they were serving werent even things people usually eat in Australia, however, i HATE how they think everything is disgusting. like come on. its food. stop being so judgmental.
Long Nguyen exactly. if you give a french person wine to taste, and tell them it's american, they're going to hate it even though we actually make better wine them.
Long Nguyen You are so right. And Buzzfeed did prop them up to hating it. You can see that everyone was in the "yuck" stage before it even began. And knowing it came from the studio. You just know that the food isn't fresh.
You're only Australian when youve tried honey ants and witchetty grubs off the ground with the locals. btw this is coming from someone whos lived in sydney all his life
It's how you eat the Vegemite it has to be per portion you don't take spoonfuls of Vegemite like Nutella all you people who eat it like Nutella are fucked in the brain you put it on toast with butter/Magrerine
Its so weird hearing Australian voices on this channel. When its played on a channel that has nearly all american voices, its easy to hear the accent. Its so weird hearing the accent, because i am so used to it.
Everyone shits on America's interpretation of foreign country's foods, but let's see other countries try and recreate our food. Not once have I seen a video that judged other country's abilities to make our food.
JesusUnoWTF It's called mcdonalds, and it exists in every country on earth. Probably the moon too. And in my incredibly biased opinion, it tastes better than it does in the states. Please don;t kill me.
mafiacat88 I feel as though that's a bit inappropriate. I don't know anybody who would consider McDonald's "American" food (even though it's the country of origin). There are various forms of food from the United States that have their own unique flavor and culture to it, though it's not always "high brow". I do not say this to be jaded or passive aggressive. I've just observed that there is a stigma on Americans that we jump at the chance to fight, back everything up with contradictions, and settle for cheap and easy. That's our leaders, not the majority of the citizens. These assumptions seemed to also shape foreigner's views of American culture. If you are not foreign and what you said was a joke...then I feel stupid.
JesusUnoWTF I'm Canadian. So technically speaking, I AM foreign. That said, I have plenty of friends in the states (in seattle and new orleans) so I think I at least know a bit about your country, and I have many relatives in Scotland and Ireland, so I've spent years there and I think I can give an at least somewhat accurate view from that side of things as well. Also sorry for the comment, it was in jest. I have sarcasm in place of blood. Mcdonalds is just the only example of widespread american style food, at least found outside of america. I mean, you guys are kind of like Canada, we don't really HAVE a food. It's all just things brought over from other countries.
mafiacat88 That is true, we did not have a specific food, though we have put very unique spins on food (as I'm sure Canada has as well) which could make them our own. Such instances include various forms of barbeque in the South (I can think of 3 different kinds already) as well as our seafood on the East Coast (and crayfish in the South). But you are right in saying that we never distinctly created a form of food, at least that I can think off. Some of the best food I've ever had has been over seas, except for a few choice meals I have had here in the U.S.
I bet there is only like two restaurants in Australia that are based off a American foods and if there are I hope that it would be someone that has an Australian heritage 🙏
Why are some Americans getting so insulted? I didn't think they were rude at all? Haha my goodness so sensitive. We just keep things truthful and raw lmao
+comitfam why? doesn't it just say 'seth sentry run'? which is just a guy's song name? i don't get why its funny at all (speaking from an australian who really likes seth sentry)
I love how no one in this comment section seems to be able to take a bit of Australian banter. It's actually how most Aussies would react to the piles of wretched vomit that they serve at Outback Steakhouse. That is not to say I haven't had proper representation of modern Australian cooking in the US but it'd be pretty common to find a proper representation of other cuisines say in Sydney whereas I can't say the same for most cities in the US. Face it, when the US is such a global player, most countries bend to you, not you to them. But I have the feeling all that is gonna change very soon.
Not angry actually, you're missing the point. More like a reasonable presumption about how our fellow countrymen would act about some generic faux Australian cuisine.
Lireoec That I agree with, but in trying to defend Aussie cuisine/and their disgust at that fake crap at Outback, a lot of them only seem to be able to reply with the 'America has no cuisine or culture' road…hardly original, and a bit silly as the two countries have a bit in common in terms of being former colonies/a fusion of what the immigrants brought over with them etc
jacey ctc I was just about to profess my love for Southern hospitality (especially the crawfish and the gumbo at NOLA) and Tex Mex. Wonderful food and full of heritage and stories about bringing together different influences. Aussies tend to be a little ignorant on the intricacies of restaurant styles and types of the US, this here is a good example of a bad adaptation, one I am sure you'll find in Australia as well (we also butcher other people's original cuisines, you can find some pretty atrocious Chinese food here). Thanks for your input.
Lireoec I've had atrocious chinese food here in Australia, one that's about a 5min walk from my house... Ironically, they are run by a chinese family, and the dish I had was one of the more westernized dishes. Honey Chicken, holy crap it was terrible.
I’m in Georgia and I would totally agree with this statement. As a matter of fact, if you polled Americans on Australian food your primary two comments would be Vegamite and Shrimp in the Barbie (not that we have any idea how that would be prepared).
I hate when foreign people try our food and barely even try the damn food! Like damn stop putting it in your mouth and taking it right out. Actually try the damn thing
Things might also be different if they ate the food at the actual restaurant and not later, giving the food time to completly dryout and get cold. No wonder it would taste off!
blazonXdragon96 They "hate" it because typical buzzfeed told them everything close the brainwashing them into it being fake. Its like the backwards, dont think about it test. Where you blindfold a volunteer and have them try "weird" foods and they like it...but if you dont blindfold it they instantly say its disgusting. Its just pushing them to be bias.
+Michelle Miller No you didn't understand his comment. The outback is the term the Aussies use for their mid-lands. Mainly because you can get farms that stretch across thousands of miles and you can go for miles without passing another car or building.
Get another group of Australian folks. Get the same food from Outback. Coat EVERY SINGLE DISH with Vegemite. I want to see their reaction to that. Seriously, I want to see the look on their face when they start to think Americans believe every single Australian dish is covered in a coating of Vegemite. It would be hilarious. Oh, and of course serve everything with one of those tall cans of Fosters.
But as a fellow Aussie, I know what would happen. Each person would get the middle finger out and say "You racists cunts" But it's our way of speaking, you Americans/Brittish shouldn't take it to heart.
australian prawns don't deserve to go out of this world, deep fried in grease. just throw them, fresh, on the barbie, few minutes on each side, bit of salt, butter and lime. you are done and can actually taste the freshness of the seafood. nothing better.
You must mix with some very strange Aussies if that's all they eat. I enjoy a meat pie at the footy (with a cold beer) & have a barbie about once a week in summer, & we sure cook a lot more than steak. Are you staying with a "bogan" family? lol :- D
It appears that Aussies are the only ones who are relaxed because they were all joking and putting on a light hearted offended act while all the Americans in the comments act like every criticism is a stab at the heart of the USA
Yeah we're pretty laid back people us Australians. But in all honesty, I believe that if your theme for a restaurant is Australian, then you should be serving authentic Australian food. Just like any other cuisine. :)
***** Well... the voicemail at the end was an Australian voice and the first line of the Outback Steakhouse 'About Us' site is:Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. So... you'd expect it to be somewhat Australian themed :P
People find us Aussies rude because we just live our lives just not getting offended easily and we kinda expect others to be the same and forget that everyone is different😊
Sharday C Roots of austraila go further than Aborigonal. There was once a race before that on the super continent. However they went to war with the aborigonal and the aborigonal won. Their culture is now eraesed from time and will never be heard of ever again. I feel that your culture is...lacking in the food department. No offense is meant with this, only facts.
Sharday C I was thinking the same thing, I thought maybe they would've had at least one Aboriginal person. Also all those people commenting above about recreating "American" food never think of any of the Native cultures' food.
It's not really a fair comparison, better to pit against shake shack or five guys. People on the east coast don't actually eat at White Castle unless drunk or high
Carolyn Burt I had In N Out for the first time a few weeks ago. I liked the burger, but didn't like the fries. The dipping sauce I didn't like either. The fries were tasteless and either oversalted or undersalted. The burger was good, but the cheese wasn't. It definitely could have used some better cheese (and I'm from Wisconsin, so I know my cheese). With all the buzz, I was disappointed.
Sir laughs, you're right the fries are shit unless you just dunk them in ketchup. I wouldn't know anything about the cheese things cuz I'm a Californian but I love their burgers and I enjoy the secret sauce as well
+Black Diamond I'm thinking just the decor and ads. The same way Texas Roadhouse has nothing to do with Texas. All of these mediocre steakhouses are pretty much the same and have the same menu. If I ate at Texas Roadhouse I don't think I would be getting authentic Texan food. It's a bit offensive to think that people really think that we are that gullible.
+Ryan Wolf Idk if you're just saying that to rhyme but It's not meant to be taken personally.... it's Australian humour. XD Plus the fact none of these dishes were remotely Australian
Textbookantics I'm not American, so it doesn't make a difference to me. But the food looked all pretty delicious to me, it might not quite be Australian but still looks good. But I find a lot of Aussies to be rude actually. It might be the humour, but try it with a big burly bloke from England or from South Africa and they can find themselves getting punched in the face.
Ryan Wolf I'm not saying the food didn't look delicious, just that it's not Australian. I'm sorry that you find my country rude and I apologise even though what you are saying is sightly hypocritical but anyway :) My parents are English and I actually find the humour between the countries very similar. Don't worry I won't be speaking to any big burly blokes from England or from South Africa any time soon so I should be right XD
Ryan Wolf *it's not its It's the principle of it if you're so desperate to know, claiming something is Australian and it's not is almost misleading advertising. Anyway I'm bored of this conversation, it's like talking to a brick wall... have a nice day :)
Ryan Wolf It's the Internet omg I didn't realise !!!!! Thanks for reminding me :) Go do your other things then instead of replying to me. Oh No you found me out, I am the grammar police you better watch out :)
Please try to refrain to grouping everyone as one. lol I'm american and even I think most of the americans here (Most) are over reacting.. god I wish I wasn't american...
Ulaine Sultana Very few people on the internet can take a joke. It isn't just Americans. Hell, I got into an argument with a butthurt person from Finland because he couldn't take a joke in whatever stupid gaming video we were watching. I see it all the time from people from all manner of countries.
MalteseSparrow I never really went to Outback thinking I was going to taste food that tasted like Australian food. It's a theme and the type of food that would be from Australia not actual Australian food. It's just like going to a Mexican restaurant where all the food is what would be considered Mexican but doesn't mean it's going to taste the same way it would from Mexico or like Olive Garden is Italian but it's not going to taste like it does in Italy.
I have a friend who is a Australian and i think everyone is going overboard. The australians have very blunt way of putting things which i think is great about them and other people tend to take them too seriously. Also no need to generalize everything, everyone has well mannered and rude people in their countries. Also I really love the Australian accents and laid back attitudes. Would love to visit Perth one day!
+Jentany I would rather have someone tell me their opinion out loud then not say anything at all lol. :) It took me a bit of time to get used to it but overall, him and i get along pretty well. very funny and good looking guy haha.
In Australia we really don't take things like that very seriously, although I do agree the white shirt guy was a bit over the top, you can't base all Aussies on just a few.
spent the last few minutes reading these comments... smh the internet shows us that the majority of ppl are ignorant and intolerant of anything that is unfamiliar and that all it takes to set it off is a honest opinion. I laughed at the video as I think it was meant to be taken. America doent have a lot of original culture true but that is due to our age and are diverse melting pot its more like a country made up of tons of cultures. anyways to other americans i would say dont bother arguing these things with ppl not from america most of the world has a opinion of what americans are like and its not flattering the only way to ever break that stereotype is to take the high road sometimes and just let ppl think what they want. the more we feed into it the more it will be used against us
As someone from outside America. You are VERY misrepresented in other countries. The only thing we ever hear about is gun violence, obesity, and how little you guys hear about other countries (not saying it's true). But that's because it's pretty much just the bad stuff that spreads
All the Americans complaining that Australians are so dramatic about it. You don't realise we don't take things as seriously and they are all just joking around...
Do I eat Whataburger daily no just like 2 times ever 3 weeks. I just had Whataburger for dinner today, I do enjoy sea food, Chinese, and BBQ. Everyone has there own opinion on food. Ive meet and Australian couple before at Whataburger and they seemed to enjoy the burger. I pointed out a few good restaurant that you'll enjoy while you're here on vacation.
But yes Texan do love Whataburger even after those Friday night football games. I'm sure you can ask someone whats you're favorite fast food restaurant more or likely say Whataburger. McDonalds I don't eat, I personally enjoy crackle barrel.
Tina2tu We don't have much. We have sausage sizzle's, where you fry a sausage, put it in a piece of bread and put some tomato sauce and fried onion on it. Also fairy bread. And a type of cake called Pavlova, but Pavlova was proven to be invented in New Zealand anyway. I don't eat any of that shit anyway.
Don't dare put an assumption to any race. They weren't rude, they just have a slight different culture than you. Hakuna your tatas they were hilarious :)
Ferocious Gherkin Literally every country--let alone continent-- has their own cultural differences. Even if they adopt it from elsewhere, there are going to be modifications, etc.
I doubt that ALL Australians look like them. I'm sure these are just a few good looking Australians trying to be models or actors but they don't represent the entire Australian population. Have you seen Steve Irwin (may he rest in peace)? He wasn't precisely good looking, just an average Joe.
***** Over here dentists aren't cheap, and for surgery you could be paying thousands. Even a single tooth replacement costs hundreds of pounds! I think quite a few can't afford it, so don't bother.
They are acting so pretentious about it! Honestly, I have never once thought Outback was meant to be Australian food. I thought, correctly, it was simply a themed restaurant.
Hhahah hey you guys, remember when Buzzfeed made a video of Americans trying Australian food, and one chick spat it out and called it dog food? Why don't you bring your angriness somewhere fucking else. God, all so oversensitive.
Who is the over sensitive one? With the need to comment and use foul language? Not liking the taste of something is different than acting like we are idiots because we have an Australian themed restaurant that doesn't *actually* serve your gross food. #getoveryourself
Bella Zheng Totally agree! When your chicken tastes like a cookie it's hard to eat it! I found bread pretty unpalatable when I first went to the US for the same reason.
I love Outback Steakhouse but never once in my life have I ever believed it was Australian. It's very hard to find authentic cuisine from around the world in America.
+YuXuan Xu yes we can cause it's all very sweet sometimes even a little bit too sweet you guys probably don't notice it in America cause you're used to it but us Aussies are used to more savoury foods.
Wow the amount of people here who don't get the aussie style of humour and think that they were being serious is astounding. We don't take everything serious like everyone else just relax guys we're allowed to say it's shit if it is and have a laugh about it.
Were people really offended by this...? Sorry for joking around for your entertainment, I can't think of a single Australian person who would find this rude or offensive.
I feel so bad, because as an Australian myself, these accents annoy me so much!! I can't stand what we sound like on video. Compared to everyone else we sound tacky and downright bogan. However I find it hard for someone to make an Australian restaurant as we don't really have anything that is considered "Australian cuisine". We have Vegemite, meat pie and lamingtons basically. We're a mixed culture and that's what our food represents. However I also don't know what a classic American dish would consist of either.
The only thing I would call authentic American food is Hot Dish. It's basically a bunch of food put together. For example tater tot hot dish; hamburger, cream of mushroom and different vegetables with tater tops on top. There's a lot of different variations of hot dishes, and it's mostly eaten in the Midwest! :)
That Guy I'm sure you guys don't but I mean the stereotype of the mid-west is like cacti, desert, cowboys and such so that's what I thought they were going for.
Zantona Dye Says someone in the country that imports in meat from Australia cos its better and charges more because of its popularity lol sad naive and ill-informed
To all Americans dissing Australians it's our sense of humour. I you don't like it then why take time out of your day to write a mean comment. Just get over it. They were just being honest and are probably upset that this is not a good representation of Australian food.
Prawns and shrimp are actually two DIFFERENT creatures- last Aussie I spoke to did NOT get this either. Yeah, prawns are native to Australia, and also huge swaths of East Asia. BUT they are NOT the creatures farmed or fished in Tampa, Florida, nor the Gulf of Mexico at large. They are SHRIMP. To be calling what is shrimp from Florida "prawns" would be very inaccurate. Look it up.
I honestly as an american came to this vid because I wasnt aware aussies had theyre own food lol I wasnt aware it was a thing outside of maori cultural food of course or what ever your native people are called lol
We called them shrimp for a TV advertisement because you dont have prawns .... it was a tourist campaign ... How is this not figured out now over there for crying out loud
The terms "prawn" and "shrimp" are 'common names' in English that refer to the same category of animal, they're not scientific names. It's up to preference as to which one you use (or who gave it its common name). There are hundreds of different species of animals that we call prawn/shrimp, so of course the prawns/shrimps that are native to the Americas are highly unlikely to be the same as those found in Australia or Asia or Europe. Just look at other languages, more often than not there's only one term for both prawns and shrimps.
Till now, i never even considered that outback steak house was trying to represent aussie cuisine. No one has ever mentioned it before...
I just thought it was a place that served steak
IfYou'reABird I'mABird They USED to advertise those commercials with an Australian accent and be like "Put teh shrimp on teh barrbee!"
ew... just... no
IfYou'reABird I'mABird OUTBACK (it's a damn nickname for AUSTRALIA) they use an AUSTRALIAN voice
No one thinks outback is Australian food... it's just the theme of the restaurant. I think we all know it's just an American steakhouse.
Mel Music Having a full on theme but dropping the buck with the food seems a bit lazy though lol
jacey ctc well, this is America
Mel Music yes, thank you
The fact that at the end of the video the guy said "g'day mate" tells a whole different story
Mel Music well if its basically just an American Steakhouse and the food is nothing like Aussie food then don't use our countries name!!
Is it trendy for people In buzzfeed videos to hate every representation of their country? Just shut up and enjoy the food.
It's only because they pick the most pretentious of douches
Only if its us making it
I know it's like they feel an obligation to stand for there country and say that the food sucks
Enjoy the food? That's disgusting
Exquisite Australian dining.
this is accurate
I swear Americans are looking back at this comment like 'what is Bunnings and wtf is fairy bread' too save americans from there misery, Bunnings sausages slay.
Amber Rose sausage sizzles are a vital part of aussie culture
Aisling A I just noticed your profile picture
_yes_
Ɣσυȵǥ Ɓℓσσđ thank you :)
yours is bloody fantastic as well
Why don't they have Americans try "American" restaurants in Australia or other countries? It would be the same way with the Americans being like "oh this is just [insert country here's] terrible take on American food."
A terrible take on a burger?
***** soul food i guess
matthew cochran Nah... Wouldn't want to offend anyone other than Americans.
I'm wondering the same thing. I bet "Authentic" Australian food is stuff that no one would want to eat anyway.
brandon switzer vegemite.
meatpie and lamingtons tbh pretty tragic
yankeegrey2810 tbh australian food could be really interesting its not like you've ever tried it anyway
brandon switzer lots and lots of kangaroo.
The Americans aren't happy that 10 Australians didn't like their food so now they're insulting Australia anyway they can.
This is one of my favourite comments
Lol you did the exact same thing. You saying how Americans aren't happy with the insults but here you are being unhappy about it. Only reason Americans would be unhappy is because everyone video about this kinda stuff is where America gets a whole lot of shit.
LichKingBob oh my god but I'm not mad, i literally don't care. I'm just stating what's going on in the comments lmao, I find fights in comment sections hilariously entertaining. Get over it and go rub one out, You've got too much built up tension bye.
That's the thing though it's not our food, the food that they did actually like was the BBQ Pork Ribs, which is part of our (Southern) cuisine.
the 2 blokes are a perfect representation of us to be honest
Yeah mate
A Holy Potato i live in sydney.
+A Holy Potato and you're a tater
Alison Smith Not necessarily, I don't say mate at all "mate".
+TheFluffyDiablo Spot on.
As a brit I can understand Aussie banter, it's a lot like British humour- unafraid to be smart and insulting. I love this video
This comment deserves a Nobel Prize.. I 100% agree
+mlg spoderman never before has truer words been spoken
+SeriouslyNotNormal Whats your opinion on American banter?
+Unreeld What's American banter like?
+OysterHunter weak
This comment section is just a big game of 'Spot the unaustralians'. Anyone who's calling them rude and it getting all butthurt is definitely not Australian. Newsflash, they're just joking around, Australians are all about taking the piss out of everything, so calm down :)
:3 yea i like aussies i feel the same way its how they are just like chinese they are blunt and loud and people asume that they all are angry and rude when they were joking around well thats one part of china
Exactly. They were 100% not being rude, and they are right...
Us Australians enjoy mucking around... A little... Maybe all the time...
Anyway, hearing those comments from a supposedly "Australian" style restaurant is appalling. A dry steak is not good. Barbecue sauce doesn't mean it's cooked on a barbecue. Come over here on a plane (not a boat), taste our culture and take it back
onelove Thankyou, I am Australian and that's just how our humour works.
Silver M. I didn't even see anything australian in outback steakhouse before this video. I thought it was some american steak restaurant.
GenjiSleepsowo I didn't expect it's owners/founders to not have visited Australia I mean..that's just crazy...how can you open an "Australian" restaurant without even visiting the country!
Its cause the commercial has an Australian guy
True Australian food is that mud cake from woolies and a bunnings sausage sizzle! Get it right, America!
Omg yes my childhood in a nutshell
And fairy bread
Luma and a *good* barbecue
+Pooja Kudva +K, you;'re both totally right!
Luma HELL YEA
People are so sensitive, no one was being rude, it was just funny
Hayley Thomas God! Ikr! Everyone is getting so butthurt...
I know, so annoying!
I think people take names too seriously, I don't go to Outback Steakhouse to eat Australian food lol it's literally just a name for a restaurant.
mikchivious right! I just think it's a theme
mikchivious so racial profiling is ok? gotcha.
Australians aren't a race...
Jamie Nelson exactly that darren guy has no idea wtf hes talking about cx
Didnt know until now it was meant to be Australian food...
But the thing is that they're perpetuating that it is authentic aussie food, which it isn't
Completely agree with you! Couldn't have said it any better :)
Yeah Australia doesn't even come to mind when I think of Outback
The trouble with america stuff however is that it is often extra sweet, which is probably its downside... Its often not able when something gets brought out by an American company, the sugar is increased...
My thoughts were like the Texan Deserts or something along those lines. Perhaps even a "Wild West" feel, but never Australian
I'm Australian, but I can't honestly say if we have any national dishes here, we're kind of a mix of cultures so we have a bit of everything.
+LordDangerify Beef pie tho. Beef pie.
+GG WP British
+LordDangerify I think it's the same with the U.S. too.
+GG WP No one calls it a beef pie, its a meat pie
+GG WP mmmmm ms macks droooolll
Everyone saying oh Australians are so rude for dissing outback but you Americans diss other country's all the time so grow up lol
***** basically, you see what you allow yourself to see because you are biased
***** you are being biased
***** Foreigners are defined as people not born within the country. Australia has a relatively recent white population migration too, if I'm not mistaken. Actually, more recent than America's.
@as007 yeah there might be some really dumb Americans bashing this video but on every other buzzfeed video, there are so many people insulting us like crazy lol I just don't think people should take stuff like this so serious you know?
So true -_- aussies are not as offended as other countries are like america
I'm tired of these foreigners looking down on Americans and thinking their country is the best. If your country the best why do ya come to America.
I'm Canadian and we Canadians don't think we are better than Americans. Actually we talk very nicely of you since you're all over our media and stuff. But then again Canadians are nice about every country. Canadians are awesome! Lol.
They're eating and comparing to their country.
They're not doing anything to your country.
Lanii Mars but they moved to our country....that was the main point of what he said
Everyone is proud of their own country. I am sure you love America, just like I love Australia and just like a Spanish would love Spain.
You are allowed to live in other countries
I don't even think Americans like outback steakhouse lol
ihategoogle Second that. Not my thing at all.
ihategoogle I'm just in it for the bread appetizer. Man, I could eat 5 loaves of that stuff.
ihategoogle Bloomin onions used to be super good but now they're just soggy messes :
Zephyrbell True. They're just really slimy and soggy. It's probably even worse because the people in the video ate takeout and didn't get it fresh.
ihategoogle They like LONGHORN (:
All these Americans in the comments saying how rude Australians are. We don't mean to be, it's how we're brought up. This isn't seen as rude at all in Aus, it's just banter mate
+YnkSyrup x Yet when we Americans speak our minds we are labeled as assholes and that we are rude when we are in Oz, go figure.
+karldammann i think if you're labelled as rude, it's because you were rude, not bc you're American
+YnkSyrup x I have never seen someone so right before
Don’t see any comments like that
Honestly didn't know Australia had a cuisine
Raptor What is American cuisine?…I think their cuisine grew like from what American cuisine did..a lot of similarities, both countries settled and formerly run by the Brits, overtook the native populations and a mesh of what the immigrants from around the world that settled afterwards
Only thing I know about is vegemite lol
Brett Clarke wait don't the real Australians hunt down kangaroos, have sex with it and then eat it later?? I saw it on Nat Geo
Brett Clarke well yours must not be too special o.o we at least know foreign cuisine because we have alot of foreign resteraunts (plus we obviously love to eat...outback sucks though, that's like saying panda express is authentic chinese food)
ThePC3D you know the secret tenderising method
Alot of people think we Australians rude, arrogant etc. But really it's just our humour, we take things light heartedly. We insult people, but in a friendly way, it's hard to explain but we dont mean the seemingly rude things we say... but I DO apologise for the guy in the white tee, he was a bit over the top.
*^are
MeticulousMayhem Hmmm... Maybe I'm Australian and I don't know it.
Us in the UK are the same, that's why English and Australians get on so way in person compared to the Americans, because they don't get our humour
0:45 OK dude we fricken get it! No need to break your plate and ruin your day over it.

BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLES!
YASSSSSSSS
DEMOCRACY SAUSAGES!
Nothing beats Bunnings sausage sizzle
WOOOOO YUMMMMMMM BEST THING EVER
YES. BUNNINGS. SAUSAGE. NOTHING WILL GO BETTER TOGETHER.
Blind and unbiased taste tests Buzzfeed! If you tell them specific details about the food, they will have preconceived notions and their judgement is already passed even before they see the food.
Long Nguyen Exactly
I totally agree with you, but the things they were serving werent even things people usually eat in Australia, however, i HATE how they think everything is disgusting. like come on. its food. stop being so judgmental.
Long Nguyen exactly. if you give a french person wine to taste, and tell them it's american, they're going to hate it even though we actually make better wine them.
Agreed!! The way they are acting is ridiculous!!
Long Nguyen You are so right. And Buzzfeed did prop them up to hating it. You can see that everyone was in the "yuck" stage before it even began. And knowing it came from the studio. You just know that the food isn't fresh.
Italians try Olive Garden for the first time
Yes!!!!
My family is Italian, and we love it
BEST IDEA EVER
I eat from the kids meals
its good, but sure as hell not Italian.
I love the two bogans
TheHoboRepublic what bogans? i think you've been watching too much ABC
Shut up you can't call people bogen's no one in Australia even calls someone by "bogen"and BTW I from Australia
There aren't any bogans in this video. I don't know where in Australia you live and what rich neighbourhood you live in to even call them bogans
Littlemixloves you're trolling
if you want to see bogans just go to western Sydney (no offence meant, i'm just generalising) or watch some housos
I don't think anyone goes to outback to see what Australian food tastes like
Tastes like sausages and potatoes.
Samaire Green it's my least favorite restaurant here.
You don't go to outback steakhouse. You end up at outback steakhouse. It's like Denny's. Except the food is inedible.
You're only Australian when youve tried honey ants and witchetty grubs off the ground with the locals. btw this is coming from someone whos lived in sydney all his life
Benji Barlow Oh yeah, That's what makes you an Aussie. Moron,
Australians only "authentic" meal is vegemite. Sorry Aussies, the rest of the world doesn't like vegemite.
not all Aussies love to eat vegemite.... but you are right it sucks lol
Umpa Lumpa Ain't even mad.
Marmites better!!! New Zealand!!!
true outback should offer vegemite on toast and beer.. not fucking fosters though what even is that..
It's how you eat the Vegemite it has to be per portion you don't take spoonfuls of Vegemite like Nutella all you people who eat it like Nutella are fucked in the brain you put it on toast with butter/Magrerine
I love their accents so much

Lexi Ober It's so irritable for me. Gahhh! lol
oh ok
Its so weird hearing Australian voices on this channel. When its played on a channel that has nearly all american voices, its easy to hear the accent. Its so weird hearing the accent, because i am so used to it.
Everyone shits on America's interpretation of foreign country's foods, but let's see other countries try and recreate our food. Not once have I seen a video that judged other country's abilities to make our food.
JesusUnoWTF That would be interesting actually
I'm just sitting in Australia just shaking your head in disappointment at how we are represented..
You are represented by hot chicks!
same
ikr!
I am sorry we have represented Austria wrong (I live in american)
*clears throat* AustrIA! REALLY MATE. you surely are representing australia wrong if you are calling it austria
LETS HAVE AMERICANS TRYING FOOD FROM AUSTRALIAN RESTAURANTS THAT CLAIMS TO HAVE AMERICAN FOOD!
I bet there is only like two restaurants in Australia that are based off a American foods and if there are I hope that it would be someone that has an Australian heritage 🙏
Is there such a thing?
Mc Donalds?
McDonalds
I was going to say the same thing.
For the record, no american actually thinks that outback is actually Australian food.
The only food that is correlated with Australia in my mind is Vegemite... but then again I'm American. Murica
My dads Australian and he actually hate vegemite lol
Right?!!!
I didn't even know Outback Steakhouse was suppose to represent Australian food...
SAME!!
The Outback is the nickname for Australia lmao
Jai Thomas ya?,how does that represent the food?
new york is known as the big apple and i am pretty sure its not known for apples
Alxmir23 lmao
Same! XD
Why are some Americans getting so insulted? I didn't think they were rude at all? Haha my goodness so sensitive. We just keep things truthful and raw lmao
Americans try American food depicted in other countries (American restaurants in Europe for example)
Yes
DizzyGEICO i want to see that.
***** not all american food is deep fried. you're not seriously that stupid are you?
***** as a chef its not easy to correctly fry food and if you "chuck" anything in hot oil it will kick your ass, trust me!
McDonalds is the same everywhere though (mostly kinda)
The white t shirt is fucking funny as hell
Finally. Someone who actually gets Australian humor.
+Jessica Bethany What is so funny about a t-shirt?
Bobandy here we go again :3
I prefer Kiwi humor, like Flight of the Conchords, Jim Jefferies is funny though.
Lireoec I thought there would just be butt hurt Americans, but there seems to be a lot of defensive and angry Aussie's too, funny
No one it America actually considers outback Australian
Ashley Lindo thank goodness Ashley - I knew you guys would be onto it
People just go there for cheap steak
That is until you visit the Midwest. Lol
@Ulysses432 Congratulations are in order
I’m in Georgia and I would totally agree with this statement. As a matter of fact, if you polled Americans on Australian food your primary two comments would be Vegamite and Shrimp in the Barbie (not that we have any idea how that would be prepared).
Brutter.
i heard batta
they don't pronounce r's they say Cah and not Car
Vivian Santiago Depends where you are from, I pronounce it "car", but those with a thicker accent say 'cah'
We're not from London Delta you flog
***** You're right, ey. :P
i feel bad that the people thought it would be even similar to australian food.
Well, of course they would... It's a theme....
I wpuldnt open a restraint and call it 'mama mias pizzeria' and then sell American food?
Fitzymagic Why not? Is pizza not allowed to be in the name of a restaurant?
Thebiggestcheese Oh my god.
XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD
I would love to be working under Buzzfeed. Food everyday!😍

Crawf Skux But it's FREE!!!
klsau if he is from africa, why is he asian? ... think about it
i have never in my life found a 'bloomin onion' here in australia
Tony Romas has them. Only place I've ever seen them... pretty sure Tony Romas isn't Australian.
If you tried American food from china I bet you'd have the same reaction
blazonXdragon96 They "hate" it because typical buzzfeed told them everything close the brainwashing them into it being fake. Its like the backwards, dont think about it test. Where you blindfold a volunteer and have them try "weird" foods and they like it...but if you dont blindfold it they instantly say its disgusting. Its just pushing them to be bias.
blazonXdragon96 quiet america
You're a fucking idiot.
I didn't even know outback was supposed to be Australian
huh??? you've never heard of the outback???
+GamerDares wins did you not read the comment..
+Maliya Ojo 'OUTBACK'!!!! it's REALLY obvious! I am English so I have never heard of these restaurants but it isn't a brain teaser. It's in the name.
+Michelle Miller No you didn't understand his comment. The outback is the term the Aussies use for their mid-lands. Mainly because you can get farms that stretch across thousands of miles and you can go for miles without passing another car or building.
***** But even when you say 'let's go have an outback' even that sounds obvious.
they should just have some meat pies and fairy bread and lamingtons with coffee and tim tams on the menu, oh and some sausage sizzles from bunnings
It's scary how accurate that is😂
miningdumbledore well born and raised true blue aussie here haha
Described my heaven.
Corry Draws Stuff X3 same same
+maddy innes omg that's so accurate! hahah
Oh god I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not xD
But as a fellow Aussie, I know what would happen.
Each person would get the middle finger out and say "You racists cunts"
But it's our way of speaking, you Americans/Brittish shouldn't take it to heart.
Not everyone in Australia like Vegemite...
+caph var Yeah but most people born and raised in country Australia do. It's not really a city thing IMO.
But I'll eat that stuff with a spoon.
***** i'm not gonna lie i love vegemite, i feel it in my soul.
I'm American and I hate outback steakhouse
***** Im a Cheese and i love Burritos
I am now a crazy who like to sniff cats butts while exploring Jupiter
You're Outback Steakhouse and I hate American
I am a jet fuel and I can't melt steel beams.

Italians try Olive Garden please. You have to.
Im going to all of garden now, bye
Yaaaas
More like Italians try Caraba's
Loolll i ordered it yesterday for the first time and i live in kuwait! opinion: it was tooo fatty and very thick and creamy
They shouldn't tell them it's Outback so they won't have completely biased reactions to them
The guy in the white shirt has bad table manners throwing his utensils and stabbing his plate
australian prawns don't deserve to go out of this world, deep fried in grease. just throw them, fresh, on the barbie, few minutes on each side, bit of salt, butter and lime. you are done and can actually taste the freshness of the seafood. nothing better.
barbie?
+Jonathan Aaron It's the Australian abbreviation for saying barbecue, kinda like how Americans say BBQ as the equivalent.
GwenhwyfarArt didnt know that, thanks for clarifying
+sam smith had the family over few years back got maybe 200+ prawns or so we just cut a oil drum in half and just boiled em in the half drums
Cracked Coffee how big are prawns compared to shrimp?
What i've learned from living in Australia for five months is that they only eat white bread, sausage rolls, meat pies, steak and barbeque souse.
sauce*
You didn't learn much then.
you messed up mate
No wtf
You must mix with some very strange Aussies if that's all they eat. I enjoy a meat pie at the footy (with a cold beer) & have a barbie about once a week in summer, & we sure cook a lot more than steak. Are you staying with a "bogan" family? lol :- D
I don't think anyone that has actually gone to an Outback Steakhouse has ever thought they were actually having Australian food. Relax you, Aussies!
It appears that Aussies are the only ones who are relaxed because they were all joking and putting on a light hearted offended act while all the Americans in the comments act like every criticism is a stab at the heart of the USA
Mason Jones not all.
It's a set up by Buzzfeed….videos like this attract a lot of comments because Americans get upset/offended
So... you'd expect it to be somewhat Australian themed :P
to the question "why is everyone in your country so sweet???".... corn... we can grow more than we know what to do with it...
People find us Aussies rude because we just live our lives just not getting offended easily and we kinda expect others to be the same and forget that everyone is different😊
I mean to be fair they seemed pretty offended in that video that Australian food is being misrepresented.
they did seem offended with the "bird" and the silverware throwing and what not
+OldScratchJohnson Our harsh sense of humour. If you offend an Australian, you'll know about it.
A-fuckin'-men to that mate
tiffany chow but when we insult you guys than thats when you start crying.
What about Aborigines? I would like to hear their opinion on the food too.
Sharday C True..but to be fair, when people think of 'American food', sadly, they don't often think of the native Americans
True. Isnt there something wrong with that though?
Sharday C Sure of course..but thats sadly what tend to happens when the indigenous people become the minority. A shame
You guys should have Californians try White Castle for the First time and have East Coasters try In N Out.
I Sir Laughsalot I seriously agree. In N Out has left me underwhelmed. And I'm from Wisco as well - so I know good beef and cheese.
Sir laughs, you're right the fries are shit unless you just dunk them in ketchup. I wouldn't know anything about the cheese things cuz I'm a Californian but I love their burgers and I enjoy the secret sauce as well
Five guys instead of in n out and Krystal's instead of White Castle..
Everyone I know doesn't associate outback with Australia. We know it as American food that has an Australian "theme" maybe if that's the right word.
It has absolutely nothing that is related to Australia food how is it themed?
okie
+Black Diamond I'm thinking just the decor and ads. The same way Texas Roadhouse has nothing to do with Texas. All of these mediocre steakhouses are pretty much the same and have the same menu. If I ate at Texas Roadhouse I don't think I would be getting authentic Texan food. It's a bit offensive to think that people really think that we are that gullible.
I found them to be rude about the food
Ryan Wolf *it's not its
It's the principle of it if you're so desperate to know, claiming something is Australian and it's not is almost misleading advertising.
Americans can't take a joke. Everything is taken so seriously. Seriously grow a pair.
As an Aussie, I am annoyed at Outback Steakhouse but happy that fellow Aussies are honest about it :)
Ew.
MalteseSparrow Not a single person from the USA has EVER thought of Outback as an Australian food restaurant except the people at BuzzFeed.
Good :) That makes me happy
Stephanie Hancock here in aussie it's good or shit XD
I know not all parts of it are great lol, but i still wouldn't mind visiting a friend over there.
Stephanie Hancock ayye, PERTH! and yes were charming
the guy at the end with the "all due respect" killed me omfg lol
The dude next to him is hot and reminds me of Thor
Jordan Carbaugh omg yes
bring back the indians!!!!!
Omg some people are seriously over reacting XD australians take the piss out of everything so just calm down... its our culture!
But the dude in the white is hella rude. I mean, he straight up spit out that piece of meat with a pissy face. That's just too much in my opinion.
In Australia we really don't take things like that very seriously, although I do agree the white shirt guy was a bit over the top, you can't base all Aussies on just a few.
What exactly is Outback Steakhouse? A restaurant in America based on Australia??
-A,x
Yea sort of.
Cat Love hi
Mandeville Sisters a steakhouse with an outback theme
larsattack hi!
Theo Clark Hi.
spent the last few minutes reading these comments... smh the internet shows us that the majority of ppl are ignorant and intolerant of anything that is unfamiliar and that all it takes to set it off is a honest opinion. I laughed at the video as I think it was meant to be taken. America doent have a lot of original culture true but that is due to our age and are diverse melting pot its more like a country made up of tons of cultures. anyways to other americans i would say dont bother arguing these things with ppl not from america most of the world has a opinion of what americans are like and its not flattering the only way to ever break that stereotype is to take the high road sometimes and just let ppl think what they want. the more we feed into it the more it will be used against us
Gigabite0218 Totally agree…..and the winner of all this is Buzzfeed because there are so many comments because people got so defensive
As someone from outside America. You are VERY misrepresented in other countries. The only thing we ever hear about is gun violence, obesity, and how little you guys hear about other countries (not saying it's true). But that's because it's pretty much just the bad stuff that spreads
Chintendo XD Stereotypes always seem to spread fastest. That's unfortunate.
Australians are so pretty. All of them.
Thanks :)
THANKYOU. Thankyou.
Thanks =)
Thanks :)
Thanks! :D
All the Americans complaining that Australians are so dramatic about it. You don't realise we don't take things as seriously and they are all just joking around...
Nope. Not "all the Americans". please. no.
such gold. We Aussies have a dry sense of humor making fun of things is what we do we aren't rude. PRAWNS NOT SHRIMP.
I agree hahahahaha
I've never eaten there under the impression the food was Australian lol. It's just a damn good steakhouse.
I as an Texan don't approve Outback Steakhouse. I'd pick Burger King over this even though I don't like Burger King.
Do you like Whataburger instead? Apparently that's the thing in Texas (and I'm not asking this to be a stereotypical jerk, I'm just curious)
I fucking love Whataburger after a Friday football game!!!! It's a good way to finish off the day.
Mr.Nibbles you lost me at crackle barrel :/
Not to be ignorant, but what are some traditional Australian meals/ foods?
Well, there's always Vegemite.
Fairy bread is authentic aussie cosine
hmm ok thank you !!
Sausage sizzles. Easy.
Don't dare put an assumption to any race. They weren't rude, they just have a slight different culture than you. Hakuna your tatas they were hilarious :)
With all due respect.... flips them off. :D
What is Australian cuisine though? I'm not trying to be a bitch, I've just never heard of any food specifically Australian...
Just like there's no American cuisine, there is no Australian cuisines, only Australian foods and food products.
What is American cuisine though? I'm not trying to be a bitch, I've just never heard of any food specifically American...
FIFA Predicts Psssst edit your last word to 'American'
Bumble Bees You da real mvp
Vegemite.
You're welcome.
Only America can ruin prawns.
just gonna go hide in my bunker now...
Aeryn Murray at least there are crumpets in the bunker...
Not true We ruin almost everything!
yess sooo true.
Specifically, corporate America ruins almost everything.
I didn't know australian food was a thing...
+Logan Magin ?? it's its own continent, where else would they get their food..
Ferocious Gherkin Literally every country--let alone continent-- has their own cultural differences. Even if they adopt it from elsewhere, there are going to be modifications, etc.
+Michelle Miller except Australia. We don't really have our own cuisine.
Trung Dinh looks like you do according to this video.
+Michelle Miller The video is incorrect then. I have been all around Australia and I can tell you, that is just meat with a fake Australian label.
How come the ancestors of convicts turned out to be so beautiful? Crime pays folks.
Brian Buckley Its because the men raped all the pretty girls.
I doubt that ALL Australians look like them. I'm sure these are just a few good looking Australians trying to be models or actors but they don't represent the entire Australian population. Have you seen Steve Irwin (may he rest in peace)? He wasn't precisely good looking, just an average Joe.
How about British try brushing teeth for the first time
Haha lol
Lol. I'm from Britain, and I have to agree, loads of British people have awful teeth! Not me though.
OK guilty here lol...// except with me it was more with my Pepsi consumption...that fucker destroyed my teeth...!!
***** Over here dentists aren't cheap, and for surgery you could be paying thousands. Even a single tooth replacement costs hundreds of pounds! I think quite a few can't afford it, so don't bother.
***** The reason you have universal dental care is because everyone has health care. It isn't like that in alot of other places.
They are acting so pretentious about it! Honestly, I have never once thought Outback was meant to be Australian food. I thought, correctly, it was simply a themed restaurant.
Xandy Jay exactly. But let them have their proud moment of thinking that it was for them.
Haha mynameistye1. They were similar when they tried American sweets...but they all liked Butterfingers, so that made up for it.
I am just being contrary, Bumble Bees! I don't know why your food tastes like. I just know you have scary spiders and that makes me sad in the heart.
"With all due respect..." **flips bird**
I can understand that the food may not be authentic, but it is far from being repugnant.
Well they did grow up with different taste buds then americans most of americas food is so sweet i hate it too( am Chinese )
Completely agree. There was no need to spit it out in the fashion they did.
When you get take out from Outback (like they did) it's pretty disgusting
Bella Zheng Totally agree! When your chicken tastes like a cookie it's hard to eat it! I found bread pretty unpalatable when I first went to the US for the same reason.
IF you are expecting authentic australian food, and you are australian and you taste something that is average, you would be very dissapointed.
I love Outback Steakhouse but never once in my life have I ever believed it was Australian. It's very hard to find authentic cuisine from around the world in America.
In Australia, in my suburb there's more indian, thai, italian, and chinese food places than there are KFCs or Mcdonalds.
+YuXuan Xu yes we can cause it's all very sweet sometimes even a little bit too sweet you guys probably don't notice it in America cause you're used to it but us Aussies are used to more savoury foods.
I wanna see americans try "american" food from different countries
as an australian I have zero idea what we eat...like...soup?
+max huntsman Vegemite is like the only thing that only we eat. (besides native animals like Kangaroos)
Yeah I'm Australian too and yeah same
Fairly bread sausage rolls for and twenty pies Bunnings sausage sizzle
We eat sausages from bunnings and a whole load of fairybread.
Only knowledge I have of Aussie food is sausage sizzles and fairy bread. Not really sure what else we're known for.
Wow the amount of people here who don't get the aussie style of humour and think that they were being serious is astounding. We don't take everything serious like everyone else just relax guys we're allowed to say it's shit if it is and have a laugh about it.
Max Carter It's the same with the British, a lot of people take themselves way too seriously.
" *You're* gonna be *Australian* now , restaurant."
Were people really offended by this...? Sorry for joking around for your entertainment, I can't think of a single Australian person who would find this rude or offensive.
Ikr how tf was this offensive?
this is offensive to Americans who can't handle jokes.
Nick and the blonde man next to him are just gorgeous beings, ugh
If Australians want to know why Americans are always shouting, "Shrimp on the Barbie" to them; its because of Outback Steakhouse commercials.
I always thought that outback was supposed to represent mid-western food. like cowboy culture or something.
I can assure you we're not associated with Cowboys. We do not carry a whip or ride horses.
That Guy I'm sure you guys don't but I mean the stereotype of the mid-west is like cacti, desert, cowboys and such so that's what I thought they were going for.
+Minori that's the west ..... there is no cacti or desert or cowboys in the midwest ....lol
+Minori I thought they were going for western too and "outback" also means "backyard" so
+Minori ...are you joking?
Did they really say stick to what Americans are good at when talking about steak?
Yeah i have to say that was not an Australian Steak ...
What are Americans good at exactly? That's what I would like to know.
+Tommy Darko guns and patriotism
Zantona Dye
Says someone in the country that imports in meat from Australia cos its better and charges more because of its popularity lol sad naive and ill-informed
What is an Australian steak?
I'm American, and never have I thought that it was authentic Australian food. It's just good food lol.
To all Americans dissing Australians it's our sense of humour. I you don't like it then why take time out of your day to write a mean comment. Just get over it. They were just being honest and are probably upset that this is not a good representation of Australian food.
Italian people try Olive Garden!!!
What i said. They just dont get it.
DUHHH if you were old enough you would know its because of that damned ad years ago that paul hogan did.
I lost it when she said "That's like me opening a Turkish restaurant."
