    The bin is definitely NOT larger than average. In order for the cyclonic filtration to work properly, you must empty it as soon as it reaches the MAX level, which as you can see is pretty low. If you don't empty it when it reaches MAX, the amazing air filtration Dyson is known for is reduced and the filter begins having to filter significantly more dirt and debris, which can clog the filters quickly.

      It does have cyclonic filtration and does not rely on only a filter unlike every other bagless robot. It also cleans the bin lint filter every time you empty. And of course it has a motor that competitors can't even compete with Dyson with power efficiency on cordless stick vacuums. I did mention power efficiency, but Dyson is overpowering their machine even on low power so it does have terrible battery life.

    Insane price for performance. I was really hoping Dyson could make an automated carpet deep cleaning machine this time around. Unfortunately they spend so much on R&D for the cyclone system (thus extra suction) that every other feature suffers (navigation/mop) making for a meh product.

  • @KrisOsterhout
    @KrisOsterhout 5 месяцев назад +3

    You should NOT give Dyson any benefit of any doubt. For that price, it:
    1) Doesn’t map properly
    2) Has awful battery life
    3) Has no mopping function
    4) Doesn’t have an auto-emptying dock
    5) Uses VSLAM (no LIDAR)
    6) Doesn’t always vacuum all areas
    7) Has an outdated app
    But hey, at least it has an incredibly overpowered motor that doesn’t even outperform on carpet.
    I like Dyson. I’ve bought quite a few of their vacuums. But this is a terrible product that should not be bought.

    After spending millions of dollars and years in R&D Dyson fails AGAIN at what the Chinese are able to do in a few months for much less.
    I don’t doubt it uses high quality motors but at this point they are so far behind that the english should just go hire the Chinese to design and develop them a proper Version 3 VacRobot with an affordable sales price (and current feature tech).

  • @kylek29
    @kylek29 5 месяцев назад +10

    Love the bin-setup, the on-board cyclone should help solve the issue that robot vacuums have with their small filters getting clogged rather quickly reducing performance. It'd be interesting to see a "after 7 days of use" measured, to compare the degradation in suction/pick-up over time. You'd probably have to do this synthetically with a predefined amount of powder (to simulate debris) being loaded into the vacuum. It's one of those "unknown" values that no one measures right now because the assumption is that the auto-empty will work just fine, but that rarely clears a filter compacted with fine dust.
    I hate the color choice, the fact it has no auto-empty, and the choice to put the camera on top so it struggles to see objects in front (even iRobot figured out that they should move it to the front at an angle to handle both the ceiling feature for location markers and the object detection at ground level) ... and the drunken sailor navigation algorithm.

    There are directional LiDAR systems now that operate out of a directional cowl and don't scan the 70% of the rotation in the cowl; so don't know why some companies are so put off by it. VSLAM is very hard to get right from a software standpoint; took Tesla years..... and even then it's never ever going to be as reliable as LiDAR. Companies like Dyson need to just contract or develop their own smaller directional LiDAR systems which stand mid on the front of the vacuum and also which are vastly easier to hide than the spinning disk on top.

      I have been happy with my 360 S10 but I don't think I know another vacuum that uses a recessed LiDAR sensor. It has some interesting navigation quirks, like spinning around to actually map a room and locate itself and the sensor can act as a obstacle detector as it is lower than the dome, but they definitely haven't taken off as I expected they would to make lower profile robovacs.

Dyson could make so much more with this robot. Just put in a larger battery, put a LIDAR scanner on top, and make a bin-emptying station. They could even tether it with some cordless vacuum, or put a cyclone unit there. I hope they'll sort it out with the next model, with all the great engineers they have, I'm sure they can pull it off.

    If it ain't fitting under my couch, it ain't fitting in to my budget. A robot vacuum MUST be able to go under furniture. Or it's obsolete before it even hits the market

      Dyson says the 360 Vis Nav is 3.5 inches tall, but that is misleading because that measurement does not include the height of the wheels. The actual height is 5 inches. It will not get under most furniture.

    I’ve kinda been waiting for this. Dyson makes terrible products, from vacuums to fans… their only outstanding product has been their hairstylist line. Even Sanyo makes a better hand dryer than Dyson!! Each Dyson robovac has carried on their legacy as an attempt into the world of robotic vacuums… but failed miserably nonetheless.

    Why no filtration tests for robot vacuums?

    • @TheCarterWayneRedington
      @TheCarterWayneRedington 5 месяцев назад

      On robot vacuums this may be a little difficult, since there is no intake to get to unless you tip the robot upside down. Causing it to shut off until flipping it back over.

    Hi! I backed a project on kickstarter and now I'm waiting for arrival of UBPet V10 - basically looks like a Dyson, but has lidar - and through kickstarter it was 4 times cheeper than dyson. Are you going to test it? On the ad it looked very promising, and had no hair tangle features.

    I had the original Dyson 360 Eye when it released. That was one of the best robot vacuums I have used. Dyson dropped support, and bought it back under warranty.

    Mlre excited about a review of the Migo Ascender that you have mentioned before. They seem to be interested in sending you one, though only after the Kickstarter ends. That's slightly suspicious. I'm a backer for now, but I might drop out before the end of the Kickstarter campaign as it seems a bit risky.
    I would love to have a stair climbing vacuum robot though.

      Exactly my thoughts, I would really like to see a review of that thing. IF, it holds up to claims, it will be a game changer, but I have a lot of doubts Best of luck on your support though, I hope it works out.

    Great review thanks. Red flags that put me off instantly:
    No LiDAR (it wanders around randomly)
    No Auto-empty Station (at this price point!!!)
    £1200 (UK) for very basic functionality is daylight robbery.
    All the above equates to No thank you Dyson.

    saw another video that said firmware update significantly improved this with regards to object avoidance, mapping, etc etc. Can you revisit? I feel like a real vacuum that can clean deeply is a very valid product segment regardless of not having a mop. No bags too, which is great.

    The price is really laughable especially since for the same price I can get the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot AI which is top of the line robot vacuum. Dyson needs a lot of catching up to do in this category.

    Great review. Dyson is charging around $1200 for this, not worth it. As you said, no mop, no self empty bin, the navigation system is behind the times, Lidar is definitely better than vslam, Lidar maps much faster and works when it's dark. If you run it on max power, apparently the battery only lasts around 20 minutes. This is a total rip off in my opinion. One robot I would definitely suggest you review is the new Narwal Freo X Ultra. It's unique because rather than using a self empty station, the dust bag goes in to the robot itself and the mopping performance is excellent.

  • @Sabundy

    It's just lacking way too much for that price. For 1200 bucks you should at least be getting all the features of the competition. But then I guess you are buying this for the Dyson name, build quality, and design. Basically paying the Dyson tax.

    heyo love the video. i want exactly this.. no mob cause i really think they just spread the dirt. no auto empty station cause i think they just make u buy their dustbags and are more of a hassle than they are helping. but with top navigation (LIDAR) and obstacle avoidance since i have a only 60 m² Appartement and its kinda crammed with furniture and i need the robot to do its best to find a way in all the areas ? any suggestions im kinda getting lost in this topic for days

    Man... I can't find a single reason to justify it's price
    There are products from dreame/roborock around the $500 that beat that thing on nearly every front and come with more features
    Also who in the hell was in charge of product design? That thing looks like a weird cheap toy from Aliexpress
