  • @HCG
    @HCG 7 месяцев назад +24

    The bin is definitely NOT larger than average. In order for the cyclonic filtration to work properly, you must empty it as soon as it reaches the MAX level, which as you can see is pretty low. If you don't empty it when it reaches MAX, the amazing air filtration Dyson is known for is reduced and the filter begins having to filter significantly more dirt and debris, which can clog the filters quickly.

    • @i679n5
      @i679n5 4 месяца назад

      Wasnt this James Dyson reason for doing a cyclone instead of bags. Because the bags would clog the flow after a few uses 😂

    Love the bin-setup, the on-board cyclone should help solve the issue that robot vacuums have with their small filters getting clogged rather quickly reducing performance. It'd be interesting to see a "after 7 days of use" measured, to compare the degradation in suction/pick-up over time. You'd probably have to do this synthetically with a predefined amount of powder (to simulate debris) being loaded into the vacuum. It's one of those "unknown" values that no one measures right now because the assumption is that the auto-empty will work just fine, but that rarely clears a filter compacted with fine dust.
    I hate the color choice, the fact it has no auto-empty, and the choice to put the camera on top so it struggles to see objects in front (even iRobot figured out that they should move it to the front at an angle to handle both the ceiling feature for location markers and the object detection at ground level) ... and the drunken sailor navigation algorithm.

  • @ZadesLegacy
    @ZadesLegacy 7 месяцев назад +4

    I have noticed that VSLAM vacuums are usually worse at navigation then LiDAR. And basically always worse then Camera + LiDAR combo systems, which is what you find in the $1200 price range. It hurts to see Dyson insist on keeping VSLAM only on this despite them having other impressive capabilities.
    Great review!! Looking foward to see your upcoming review of the Ascender vacuum bot.

    The value proposition is simple for me, the only vacuum you recommended for hair when I took your recommendation on my last pass through really was pretty horrible at exactly that... The vacuum I bought before that without doing user reviews or checking online was better purely by chance (Avoid Shark products as far as I'm concerned regardless of reccomndations from consumer product reviewers, some weird bias towards meaningless features when the products primary function is weak it seems to me). This just actually did the job better than any others, my carpets are actually clean, which is kind of the point, a low review when it does the primary function better than anything else on the market seems off to me. The idea that I can add an amazing feature package to a product that's designed to vacuum when it sucks at vacuuming and it somehow gets a better recommendations is weird to me.

    I rent, and I don’t know how old is the carpet.
    Before I bought it, I used a v10 with carpet head, and patiently move 1 cm per second through the room - and havest fine dust that maybe could fit a 200ml can from 35 sqm carpet. And if I have the time to do it again, the volume of dust wasn’t significant lower.
    considering recharging time, it took days to finish one room.
    So I bought it - the most promising one by looking the structure.
    I think it could match 20 % of result compare to me manually deep clean. I think it’s amazing because that deep clean takes an hour to finish 2 sqm.
    I scheduled it 3 times a day.
    The first week, every day, it sucks out some tiny things that I’m sure belong to previous tenants that even my manual deep clean couldn’t fully clean out - it was actually enjoyable to clean the bin as I see my place getting cleaner every day.
    Now after 2 month, we have so much more confidence on the carpet than before.
    Well worth the money as its strength happens to be what I need most.

      It does have cyclonic filtration and does not rely on only a filter unlike every other bagless robot. It also cleans the bin lint filter every time you empty. Dyson could make so much more with this robot. Just put in a larger battery, put a LIDAR scanner on top, and make a bin-emptying station. They could even tether it with some cordless vacuum, or put a cyclone unit there. As you said, no mop, no self empty bin, the navigation system is behind the times, Lidar is definitely better than vslam, Lidar maps much faster and works when it's dark. If you run it on max power, apparently the battery only lasts around 20 minutes. This is a total rip off in my opinion. One robot I would definitely suggest you review is the new Narwal Freo X Ultra. It's unique because rather than using a self empty station, the dust bag goes in to the robot itself and the mopping performance is excellent.

      On robot vacuums this may be a little difficult, since there is no intake to get to unless you tip the robot upside down. Causing it to shut off until flipping it back over.

    You should NOT give Dyson any benefit of any doubt. For that price, it:
    1) Doesn’t map properly
    2) Has awful battery life
    3) Has no mopping function
    4) Doesn’t have an auto-emptying dock
    5) Uses VSLAM (no LIDAR)
    6) Doesn’t always vacuum all areas
    7) Has an outdated app
    But hey, at least it has an incredibly overpowered motor that doesn’t even outperform on carpet.
    I like Dyson. I’ve bought quite a few of their vacuums. But this is a terrible product that should not be bought.

    You missed an important detail that especially flawed your carpet vacuuming testing results : while using auto mode and detecting dirt the robots also slows down while boosting. This improves deep cleaning performance a lot even compared to manual set boost mode because of the slowdown. According to my carpet testing using certified testdust the robot is a top 2 performer and i am testing several types of carpets. Also want to know which firmware version the robot runs while testing the navigation?

    the new one is way too wide as almost all other robots on the market. the advantage of the 360 eye and 360 heurist was that it cleaned even tight spaces where no other robot was able to. this was unique to dysons robots.

    Its goof to see Dyson went with the front brush, as center brush bots are horrible. They always just end up having stuff lodged between the bot & the floor and scraping floors.

      @@Morberis Its way better, having the brush under the bot simply makes no sense. As the bot has to first run over everything it vacuums. I'm betting that Dyson thinks it doesn't need to have an auto-emptying dock because it incorporates their dust bin tech into the robot.
    Personally I don't like dust bags due to fees, so I was kind of hoping they would do something like Eureka or Shark, if they want to use dust bins...

    I think Dyson's triple roller is causing too much friction on the rugs. Making it a waste of battery.
    And they sacrificed a ton of space with their turbine or whatever is called system.. Yes, it has suction power and we do appreciate the HEPA..😊, but I don't think Dysons signature system should be jammed in a tiny vacuum... But even with that said. I refuse to buy a vacuum with a camera connected to the internet.

    There are directional LiDAR systems now that operate out of a directional cowl and don't scan the 70% of the rotation in the cowl; so don't know why some companies are so put off by it. VSLAM is very hard to get right from a software standpoint; took Tesla years..... and even then it's never ever going to be as reliable as LiDAR. Companies like Dyson need to just contract or develop their own smaller directional LiDAR systems which stand mid on the front of the vacuum and also which are vastly easier to hide than the spinning disk on top.

    • @overkill1340
      @overkill1340 7 месяцев назад

      I have been happy with my 360 S10 but I don't think I know another vacuum that uses a recessed LiDAR sensor. It has some interesting navigation quirks, like spinning around to actually map a room and locate itself and the sensor can act as a obstacle detector as it is lower than the dome, but they definitely haven't taken off as I expected they would to make lower profile robovacs.
