If you’re unfamiliar, Penny blood is an upcoming JRPG that was successfully funded via Kickstarter, back in 2022. It is spiritual successor to Shadow Hearts, which is one of my favorite JRPG series of all time.
Pennyblood is currently being developed by many of the core Shadow Hearts staff. We haven't received much info yet, but the trailer does look absolutely badass, and has some serious Shadow Hearts vibes.

I miss the old shadow hearts / shadow hearts covenant. Such an amazing duology (I try not to remember "a New World"). Here's hoping this game lives up to the expectations
I like what I see and am optimistic. I don’t care for the wild arms spiritual successor the one I care for and went all in is Penny blood.
The art style looks really nice. Combat kind of reminds of Oninaki. Nice preview!

I love Shadow Hearts, it was my fav RPG on the PS2. I hope Penny Blood gets a publisher soon since I read they couldn't so far.
Yeah that's right. Apparently the success of Hellbound will help convince Publishers. Fingers crossed they find one soon.
So excited for the two rpgs in production. The characters looks amazing and their brief bio introduction makes me think they're going to be complex villains. I hope this turns out to be really good. Thank you so much for covering this!
There's some really good dialogue between some of the characters that goes into a bit of their back stories. They seem like a very interesting cast so far.
This with Eiyuden are my most hype fingers crossed for classic RPGs from my childhood to come back along with the wild arms one to bring those peak games without shit companies sitting on the IP’s doing nothing with them.
Makes me so happy. Eiyuden looks amazing. Can't wait to see more Armed Fantasia and Pennyblood.
I'm surprised how serviceable those "spin-off" games from NatsumeAtari are...
I suppose they develop a frame first and attach an ip to the games later?
I'll buy Pennyblood and Armed Fantasia for sure when they come out if they turn out good but...
I'm a bit tired of kickstarter projects. It might be that the big companies (Sony, MS, Square, etc) are so hard to work with that these veteran devs prefer just going through all the kickstarter fluff.

You hit the nail on the head. It's so hard. In fact, Pennyblood is actually having a very hard time finding a publisher right now (and its success absolutely depends on how Hellbound goes, as it's been stated in their updates). But NatsumiAtari did well with Rising, and Hellbound has the potential to be AMAZING!
Pretty much. In fact, a Shadow Hearts sequel was put into development and then canceled...on three different occasions. Thats what started the whole Pennyblood thing in the first place.
So these are the antagonists in the main game? That's exciting!

I Loved Shadow Hearts series, but idk about this spin-off game... I don't like the art design, and Chibi Characters...
Honestly, I would be much happier if Shadow Hearts just got Remastered... Still, I may keep on an eye on this...
I want turn-base combat, tho, (not what I am seeing here....)
I recently beat the beta and to put it simply, it's rough around the edges, but still plenty fun. It's like a bloodier less horny version of Hades. As a Shadow Hearts fan who supported and is excited for Penny Blood, this game will definitely keep my occupied till the big release.
Glad you liked it! I was sad to see it end. I could have kept playing to get all the upgrades, but I wanted to keep it as fresh as possible when the Early access is released. No idea if progress will carry over (I doubt it).
Really love the art and it’s a shame the game isn’t using it more closely in gameplay
I hate the chibi style of the models. Why couldnt design them like the actual artwork ): Also roguelite a kinda meh
Probably because it takes more time in animating something like that. Just a guess at that so it's a clever way to reduce workload.
Its a low budget title just skip it if you dont like it
