- I love casino diners, especially ones of the 24 hour variety! In this video, I'm going to the Lucky Penny Cafe at the premier Station Casino in Henderson, the Green Valley Ranch Casino and Resort. I'm going to try a large array of dishes and together we'll see what this restaurant is all about!

I love coming here everytime we go to Green Valley Ranch. I love getting their Lucky Penny Breakfast Burrito, Steak and Eggs, Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs and the Vegas Cheesesteak.

I'm a regular at that place. I was getting the Reuben for awhile. It was very good but sometimes would have some hard to chew pieces. I have since switched to the French Dip with grilled Onions and the horse radish dip (I think you may need to ask for that if the waiter/waitress doesn't suggest it. I think it's a couple dollars extra). It is one of my favorite sandwiches anywhere. The Quesadillas that my wife always gets are very good as well. Price is reasonable too. Oh and you're right, the too thick batter on the Fish and Chips made me not order it a second time. Gordon Ramsay's Pub and Grill has the best Fish and Chips I've had.. so far.

Great video and commentary on the Lucky Penny. Everything is at a premium inside the hotels. Make sure to feature some of the restaurants in that area outside of the casinos!
Funny you should mention, I'm doing the research to see what it will take to do two videos a week starting in 2024: my Saturday videos focused on tourist locations and the big resort restaurants, and another video mid week that will start to explore more local restaurants. Fun fact about the Green Valley Ranch is they had their own Discovery TV show back in the day if I remember correctly. I want to say around 2007 time frame. As for the pricing that I always love commenting on. Very reasonable and the food looked good and yes some of it might have been ok like the fish but overall with pricing it worth a visit. Remember on the strip those prices you saw would never exist at that price level.

I love taquitos , they are my favorite. So those taquitos looked so good to me as well as the calamari. I would have loved to see what the Cobb salad looked like but I know your not into salads. The burger looked so good too.

Good looking buffet you've got going there! I think it's the 1st time in my life that I've seen calamari not in a circle lol. 1 slice of tomato would have been fine on the burger, looks like they were going for height. I don't think I could take leftover breakfast home, especially what you ordered aside from the hash, the rest would be a soggy mess with the hour. This one made me HANGRY! Fish and chips plus a hamburger and fries. May I suggest in the future if trying dishes with redundant sides you ask the server if there are any same price substitutions for one of the sides. For example many places will allow instead of fries: coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, soup, etc... Some places may charge a nominal fee depending on the side substituted. If they had allowed it I would like to have heard your opinion on their coleslaw. Coleslaw is my default substitution for fries where allowed. Aside from avoiding extra carbs from the fries, the added plant fiber from the cabbage helps things come out right in the end. :)

Great suggestion! I do try and do so when the options are on the menu but I don't typically ask when I don't see variable options offered on the menu. I'll keep that in mind to just ask for future videos. Good idea as I do like to provide the largest breadth of options so most watching can see something they might have tried and get an early picture for it before going themselves. Thanks for watching!

Ate at the Lucky Penny out at Red Rock and got 6-7 huge chicken tenders in my order.
You should try Big Dog Brewery, out by Sante Fe Station, for breakfast. They have an amazing chorizo breakfast burrito and loco moco w/ house made mushroom gravy.
Oh, now that is interesting to know that the Red Rock one serves more chicken strips. I wonder why that's the case. I'll keep Big Dog Brewery in mind! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for trying so many dishes. The fish looked good to me. The prices seemed high for a station casino. Usually, they are a bargain. The quality was good though. I'd probably skip it.
I don't have a good comparison to the rest of the Station locations. I play at Red Rock from time to time but I rarely eat at the restaurants and have always gotten Wing Stop at the food court when I play there. But if I was playing at GVR, I wouldn't be mad eating here. Thanks for watching!

My go to for brekkie’s either the Chicken Fried Steak or the Lucky Three Way if I’m not feeling ambitious, and for lunch, it’s usually the Turkey Club. HOWEVER: Prime Rib Dip hits differently at 0300 in the morning sometimes..

I never saw calamari in the shape of fries but that would be a favorite of mine. The corned beef looked fresh and not of of a can. I liked the vibe of the restaurant too as it appeared warm and inviting. Great video! Thank you! How do you manage to carry all the take out food when you leave?
Yes! I'm okay with corn beef from a can because I grew up with it, but I LOVE that real corned beef like they served here. I liked it here and I'm told all the Station casinos have a Lucky Penny so I'll have to try them all eventually. Most videos I end up with about 5-6 carryout boxes and they provide bags so it's not too difficult carrying it out. It's just like picking up a big Door Dash order or something. Thanks for watching!

Hey, I was wondering what the heck calamari fries are when I was reading the menu. They came out like I expected, but those are really cooked. I think that because the breading is pretty brown. More than most calamari appetizers you see which tend to be just a smidge over tempura brown. Anyway, I submit that someone is grinding calamari in a grinder or robot coupe and making french fries using MEAT GLUE before breading and battering the fries which are shipped frozen. It's a totally wholesome product and there is probably no reason to hate this, but you're not eating strips of calamari.
Breading is brown more from the seasoning in the batter I believe than the cook time. There was no burnt taste at all. I did not think about that but yes, the calamari may be ground up into a meat paste before breading. I do know they hand bread the calamari though (at least that's what the waiter told me). That's an insane price for three little chicken strips and that's too bad re the chicken parm! What mic are you using? It picked up the sounds of the crunchy fries and the fish batter being munched on John. That's incredible!!
This is the first video I'm trying out a new shotgun mic system in the Shure MV88+. It was good for the facing forward shots but when I was looking down talking for things like dipping sauces the sound was a little more muted. I have to remember to speak towards the mic when I use this setup since it's not omni-directional. Thanks GL!

Does not the Fish ‘ n’ chip look too dark, batter nearly burnt?
It had some darker spots but it did not have any kind of burnt flavor. Maybe they have to fry it longer because of how thick that batter is, which is probably another reason why they could go a little easier on it. Thanks for watching!

Most of the food looked good and what not, that chicken parm looked way off and those fish did have way to much batter on them, all the rest of the food I would go for except for the calamari I'm not a fan of eating Squid, octopus, and any other invertebrates. It's cool that you get to pack up all that food you can eat it all over a few days. So you used to gamble a lot I love to gamble to but I wouldn't if I lived in Vegas I would go to California to do that no one should gamble in Vegas if they live there.
Yeah, I was a heavy gambler but fortunately, I'm far passed that era of my life. Nowadays, I'll play once or twice a month if I have the free time but it doesn't have the appeal it used to for me which is fantastic. Thanks for watching and for joining the channel as a member! $12.99 and up for those orders are ridiculous. Way over priced 😂👎 $17.00 Burger plus $2.00 extra for a $.10 slice of Cheese is A complete Rip Off
For a premier Vegas resort, these prices were pretty reasonable. It's at least a solid 35% cheaper than eating on the strip. But if you're looking at it from a standpoint of your local mom and pop burger shop, then yes, agreed it's over priced. Thanks for watching!
