It really does feel genuinely different in play. Designers have a 3rd power stat they can mess with to balance cards now. If they print a card with 20 attack power it doesn't necessarily break anything because they can choose exactly how much damage the card does to an opponent's life total completely independently from how much damage it does to other characters. I think it's really smart and legitimately feels unique when you're actually playing and changes card evaluation by a lot.

I'm fully talking out of my ass here, but I think they won't shut it down until the supply issues with cards gets sorted out a bit more. A lot of people LITERALLY cannot play the physical game because the cards are so hard to come by, and shutting this thing down would be a really bad PR move in the short term. "Yeah we can't sell you any cards, but you're not allowed to play unless you buy the thing we can't sell you" would just make the supply issues / scalping problem even more of a problem. Shutting it down before cards are more readily available is also a bad move in the long term, since many competitive players can't do any deck brewing or testing with physical cards very easily right now either - stifling competitive deckbuilding will damage the game's potential long-term playerbase. Will they shut it down eventually? Probably, yeah. But I think there are legitimate reasons to look the other way and pretend it doesn't exist for at least a little while.
If they learned from Konami, they might allow it as it can drive sales with the anticipation of new cards. Dueling Book (previously Duel Network) was something like this for Yugioh although Duel Network had to rebrand since they got shut down for reasons I can't remember.

so in short, Lorcana is like playing Magic or Runeterra but the Wincon is not to reduce hitpoints but gain them. that's a nice twist actually for most TCGs. i mean Magic and Hearthstone do have alternative wincons (Poison Counters, Mechathun, Mill, etc) but the basic loop of any match goes about bitchslapping each other until someone looses all its hitpoints. it seems however was in charge of this at Disney really saw a window to add a different way to play it without making it feel like a blatant copy of the other card games in the market just with movie characters slapped in the art.
This looks surprisingly fun! Just by having no face / HP really changes the card game dynamic a lot. Hopefully you enjoy playing this more (and disney dont shut the app down lol)
You do have HP, 20 in fact like a certain other game. Its just made family friendly. So if a card would say "gain 2 life" in lorcana its "opponent loses 2 lore".

It's always more fun if the objective is more than just dealing damage. The best TGC I played is Faeria, just because it involves moving cards around like board pieces and laying down tiles.

I believe they already have official rules for drafts in place and some stores actually do run draft events. Unfortunately card availability is way too low for it to be feasible for most stores, so I'm also waiting to be able to draft. Draft is easily my favorite MTG format
Now you have to try the One Piece card game, it's pretty much Hearthstone but with physical cards so I'm sure you're gonna like it. (Same as lorcana it has a third party simulator you can play on)
I personally think how you win and score points is the biggest flaw of the game. Simply put, there's very little interaction when it comes to stopping your opponent from scoring. Unless you kill the character the turn it comes down, they will score. When I played it felt like there was just two different solitaire decks trying to race each other for 20 lore, or one list just tried to clear everything off the board each turn.
I did play the launch event that was back in the middle of august in London. I will gladly answer any questions. I don't remember the exact pricings but it was honestly really fun. It's so weird to see aggro not going face, instead just ramping as fast as possible.
I know that right now it's paper only, but I'd love to see you try out the Digimon TCG. It's a little combination of Pokémon and the good parts of Yu-Gi-Oh.
I love the Digimon TCG, but would not compare it to Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh at all. The resource system and digivolution system are so unique to that game that it's hard to compare to any of the other big popular games.
Just got into this game in physical with my fiancé as my first in person TCG since high school. As Disney people we absolutely love it. Working on an Amber/Amethyst deck with my pretty boy blonde Hades.
Seeing the Lorcana boxes has made me curious, have you tired Digimon yet? Being a Digimon player I'm biased but it's kept my attention far more than most TCGs have lately
I was looking for more Digimon comments. Easily my favorite game with such a unique resource system. Lorcana just doesn't hold my interest, the gameplay is too derivative and the themes fall apart for me.
@@travisbuschette8609 I will give Lorcana credit, though, I’ve been trying it out via Pixelborn and I definitely enjoy it for what it is. I also appreciate the sort of classic Disney art style the cards have. But I don’t think it’s quite enough to pull me away from Digimon.
In 8:30 you could had shift Aladdin first then Tap to quest. Shift cards when played as shift retain all the conditions of the base card. In this case the base card was ready to quest so you could had quest for 2 lore instead of 1
If Lorcana was intended and mainly sold as a digital card game, I'd probably give it a shot. Considering it's mainly physical and is vicioulsy targeted by scalpers, I don't know if ill end up caring.
I am really sorry, but for how much those boosters cost, if you're not a disney fan (I am not) and how similiar the mechanics are to a mix of mtg/hearthstone, I can't see how this can be that good? It's just, more of the same and we already have lots of the it. Also, isn't showing off... essentially an illegal client using stolen copyrighted property made by disney on your channel kinda risky? You're gonna get the guy sued by Disney...
Completely insane to me that disney didn't think to release this with a digital client, it's not like they are a small indie company and can't afford it and hasbro has proven that card games are profitable.

Would watch more lorcana content, this game is sick
Lorcana was made for actual children, so it makes sense that it would be easy for Rarran to catch up.
Daaaaaaaamn
Wait ... this wasn't sponsored, he just likes the game
The fact that this shit is fanmade blows my mind. if you added a little flare to it this would be an actual god damn good looking game
When the cardgame is better than most of modern Disney movies LUL
Glad you enjoyed the game! It's quickly becoming our favorite game as well!
7:40 That was pretty neat ‘Life-steal’
You played marvel snap finally? Can't wait to watch!
Can someone do this for Duel Masters ?!?!
Y'all got to try Netrunner.
Uh oh Rarran you naughty boy, if you put attention to this and make the client popular, Disney could strike a DMCA
I did play the launch event that was back in the middle of august in London. I will gladly answer any questions. I don't remember the exact pricings but it was honestly really fun. It's so weird to see aggro not going face, instead just ramping as fast as possible.
Its def weird to wrap your head around aggro in Lorcana being ramp and control looking more like aggro
Honestly the game seems interesting and definitely interested to see what Disney does with it
Sorry man but the Disney not making this card game.
I curious on any catchup mechanics and would like to see u try Digimon TCG. Not sure how current meta for english and japanese is though
great video, for pixelborn how do you get the images?
i would love to play other card games im all here for hearth stone BUT if you tried a game or 2 of chaotic i would be very much down for it
Ranch Man check out the Digimon TCG as well
Great video, love Lorcana. Not into hearthstone anymore. Are you going to be making Lorcana content occasionally? Or is this a 1 and done?
I don't really care about Lorcana, but I'm here for any content for basically any card game!
Rarran with no headphones scares me
LOVE Lorcana....More please!
THIS PERSON JUST MADE THIS? HOLY SHIT. Now imma try it out. :3
Yes! i'm currently playing a villain deck with emerald/amethyst
Your takes on card games frustrate me but that's why I watch so thank you
The idea of collecting Lore and go questing it's the same win mechanic from Keyforge, a TCG game that was released in 2018...
Nice video! Does the relaxing music come from the game or did you include it on the edit?
Edit. It had some mario galaxy, some zelda and some snes music I think
Did you play this on stream? If so, is there a VOD somewhere?
Completely insane to me that disney didn't think to release this with a digital client, it's not like they are a small indie company and can't afford it and hasbro has proven that card games are profitable.
i honestly would love to play lorcana, but no distributed to NZ or AUS :( but! the online client will be so fun to play! and looking forward to playing thanks for sharing :D
Look at that, a card game that has a lot of rules and interactions that oviously requires understanding of what you are doing and not only click the YES button and you are enjoying it!
The other game (that shall not be named) wasn't impossibly difficult. It just wasn't appealing to you and wasn't doing the "click" in your brain. I'm sounding sarcastic but I'm happy :)
Fun fact, I tried creating a card game, the rules are set, the cards are cut out, i just haven't made it yet.
Huh, that is a neat game. I saw the physical release in Gen Con, but the lines were so abysmal that I never even attempted to get any cards, let alone play it.
Im surprised you were able to understand this game rarran , given past experiences lol.
definitely gonna peep this since it's free. actually seems really fun & ez to pick up
Oh my god We got Rarran to Succumb to the paper cardboard
