I loved his long hair! I have a long chaired Chi and would never shave his hair off but was really interesting to see how its done! Would love to see how you groom a long-hair chi without shaving the body x

My chihuahua would freeze if I shaved her!! She sun bathes all summer long.
@@janicedafoe6793 I have to keep my long haired Chihuahua groomed now due to her age and she can no longer clean herself so her poo gets tangled in and pee seemed to soak all the way up to her neck 🙄 it's easier for me to keep her clean with the shorter hair

Why would you try to turn him into a short haired! There was no need to shave him that short! He wasn’t matted, summer cuts don’t need to be shaved to a 7! I trim my long haired down to minimum half inch with scissors, even then I feel bad for taking their gorgeous coats.

I have a little papillon/long hair chihuahua mix and I would never ever have her shaved her fur is beautiful and she has a little skirt.
My groomer said the long hair chihuahua needs to keep their hair on the back for protection from the sun.
I wouldn’t cut my long hair chihuahua like that.

I had a .brown & white Chihuahuas, she passed last September, That poor baby boy was scared to death. I never had My Coco cut that short & always kept the hair on the pads of her feet because hot sidewalks burn their little feet. He is a very sweet boy just like my Coco was except her legs were half as long😘😷

Why do you shave a long haired dog???.
I don't understand this at all from a professional groom? Dogs need their coat to keep cool so why are you shaving it off in summer? He will overheat! You shouldn't shave a coat unless it's for medical purposes.
And you're exposing light skin so now susceptible to sun burn.
But with all that fur in 100degrese

This is so helpful! We just moved from Wyoming to NM. Short & long hair Chihuahua & Yorkie grew their tongues longer panting at 80 degrees & summer has t hit yet. I had to puppy cut & baby swimming pool.

Kayla Hall its a long hair chihuahua. The hair on the ears of a papillon is longer. The muzzle on the papillon is also longer and pointier. The reason the ears are sometimes floppy it’s because they never tape his ears as a puppy to be fully erected.

Seriously that's the worst grooming I've ever seen.She so busy mounthing off .I wouldn't use this groomer she completely ignored the dog,she didn't speak to the dog once.That women doesn't care for dogs,she I wouldn't let her near my beloved dog., She's acting cruel.

O-M-G!! Bandit is way cute! My baby Peaches who is a pug mix is also a puppy mill puppy. I adopted her at 1 years old and she was bred and had puppies at 8 months old. But now.. She is an inside baby that sleeps on our bed and is loved so much. Thank you pet mom of Bandit for rescuing your baby and sharing your story with us. You are fabulous! Nooooo.. You dont make a long haired chi a short haired chi :( They call them long-coat for a reason. Use them scissors to trim the coat and thats all they need.
I agree. The appeal of the breed is their large chest puff and the fluffy tail. My Paco had his first haircut recently and it was just that... a haircut. I even made sure they kept some of the long white streaks of ear hair long because that's what they're supposed to look like. My boy likes to be outside a lot, so he needs his protective fur. He's very sweet and playful. Everyone has a different idea of what they like and that's okay. Shaving is just not for me.
I was thinking the same thing! I do a summer cut on mine but that’s wayyy too short, trying to make him short haired!

Great job! My mom has a long haired chihuahua that was adopted. His initial name was Bandit too and we renamed him Oreo. He's very quiet and doesn't bark either and weighs 10lbs. We're in the DFW area and I loved when he had his first shave, he looked so handsome. His hair was so long, especially the skirt area and ears. I love their fluffy tails. This little man is so cute too and well behaved.

The chihuahua was so cute after you shaved him! He was so well behaved! The story about his eye watering every time he smells food made me laugh 😁 his owner clearly cares for him to pay for an operation that cost so much and extra teeth cleaning on top to prevent eye issues! Not a lot of people would do that for their dogs, which is a shame. I would do anything for m furbabies!

Dede, while training as a Vet Tech, I learned that a dog's coat helps regulate their body temp. When shaved they can become overheated and even get a sun burn. Have you heard this? Do you warn clients about sunburn?
Not judging, just curious.
I doubt she warns clients about sunburn, as it’s probably common sense that exposed skin can be sunburned on a dog just like it is for us! I’d assume most of her clients are indoor dogs as well, and probably not in the sun for hours on end after a shave down.
I just talked to a husky owner and we laughed about all the things people say, he said, I couldn't put him on video because he was wearing a company shirt. But, he was like, all the way shave the dog, he said the dog loves it, no shedding, and the dog is COOLER, and I said, tell me how you know that, because people are not going to agree, he said, you live with the dog, you shave the dog, its hot, you see him pant less and he is just more happy without all that hair. In my opinion, some things, just go out the door if you know on your own.
In my opinion, get a husky, and have a long haired hot summer with that pet, then one year, summer, shave down, see what you think. Can't afford a husky, foster a husky for one year. Shave all the way! Never heard or seen a pet uncomfortable due to a shave down. A new appearance, yes, cats do that, one dog out of 5 k will do it, a shave down inside ear, where now it tickles, yes, some dogs do that, and shake their head the whole time, so we don't shave inside the ear. Sooooo, my opinion, do what is best for the dog and the owner and if what the owner requests is not unreasonable, and you can accomplish it, do it.
My Favorite Groomer Ty for ur opinion. I trust u know bc of experience. That's why I asked. It's something we learned in school and wondered if it was true. I know pigs can get sunburn so i was curious.
The husky owner may be surprised to know that small dogs do not have undercoats like a husky does.

What a great job! Beautiful baby and the groomer is phenomenal! I've watched a groomer on RUclips that had a big following and she was a hot mess (everyone thought she was great 🙄). Had loud must going on, talking drama, and hair flying everywhere, not engaged with the pet. Oh this was just such a pleasure to watch. Thank you! ❤ Love chi's btw.

In my opinion, you did nothing tight. From tying that noose around his neck, to yanking the hair on his chest, to shaving near his penis, to shaving him at all. It is not recommended to shave a dog, the fur helps regulate body temp., in cold, and warm weather. Did you praise him, he was shaking like a leaf. To squeezing his two front legs together.it was very difficult to watch how you handled this animal. He looked sacred to death. This must have been traumatic for him.

DEE DEE! You've gotta try the millers forge nail clippers. The red-handled ones! They are a nicer shaped blade for cutting and so smooth and quiet. Could help some of your trickier clients.

Gosh you are so right on deedee I love watching you channel my son just this last couple of days brought me a new baby girl as mags is not doing her best with age 17 years old the heats not her friend she so needs to have a summer cut as well I was not able to get her out for that this year I can’t drive any more however I was able with clippers at least get most of her back thinned well all but her legs that’s even hard for most groomers to do her legs and paws , any way I’m glad to hear about the vet agogo person I’ll be calling them soon as my new baby was born July 3 some how breeders said they missed her puppy shots and such my son is a good kid knows these people very well and was givin this baby for me to bring home blessed their hearts it was such a blessing by the way she’s a smooth hair chiahua I can give her baths and bushing mags is my curly haired girl any way after our first night together I had not a brush to use on her so found a older toothbrush still in good shape but not too soft I begun her first brush down this morning she so loved it I also begun her training for nail cutting those little cactus things had to go by me watching you videos I’ve learned a lot thank you so much with love in my heart please know your blessed
