The source image should be 512 x 512 pixels. Just right-click on res > Image Asset. Select the image in foreground layer and color in background layer. In "Confirm Icon Path" screen, select main for Res Directory. Thank you.
That was so advanced for someone old like me but I'm sure it's easy for you. If I liked the app icon from another email app for example, could I copy that and put it onto the 3rd party email app I use? (Spark)
Only the debug version got the icon I wanted. The release version still kept the android logo. Why? I think you did not cover that. It is a bad idea just to replace the image using the same name ic_launcher. Not good tutorial at all.
Just got a few things going on in my life. But I do have an Android video in the works. I've only made one Swift UI tutorial and it wasn't super popular. It is the future though and I should spend more time with it.
how can i deactivate that the icon will used as a splash screen (on launch). I have a splash screen and dont want that logo launch screen if i run the app, can anyone help ?
@@CodeWithCal I always prefer webp, they are lighter with no practical quality loss. I'd only avoid webp files if planning to support Android level < 14
I so absolutely loathe this pos called Android, the nonsense #10000000000 was that at 1:05 there was preset debug so onr elease the default icon was used instead of the one I defined. Why the hell would someone set different icons for release and debug.

solved it, you need to go to the left tab "Build Variants" and select "Release". Then you can change the icon.
