I am pretty sure the 360 fps would make your game better and who knows, you could win the next FNCS if you try. Edit: I would want you to win an FNCS because I really think you could win one in OCE. Why is no one doing an ACTUAL benchmark of this? At least you could have, Aussie. There are programs that can tell you your average fps within a set period. You should have done that.
As a software engineer i can confirm. This will help with your machines FPS, not by 200 frames, but maybe 20 to 40. What he said about making the server run more efficiently is not true, the packets sent to the server do not contain any resource files only code, if you disassemble the games chunk files all skins/cosmetis have IDs, they are the same lenth in characters, so in other words your relying on other players to wear solid color skins so your GPU performs better to render them and their movement faster.
i get what you’re saying but i think he’s just pointing out that if everyone used minimalistic loadouts then everyone’s pc has to render less which is helpful to everyone in the end. I don’t think he meant the server as code but as the collection of people in the server.
I would love to see someone make a custom full of people wearing the craziest, less optimal outfits possible and then another custom with everyone wearing the most optimal. Test different scenarios, and see the results! If you end up doing what you said in the video to check the input delay, could you please please add this into the video? That would be insane!
Aussie is one of the best creators out there, he consistently uploads and always has a high energy and his content is amazing. He also streams daily, and works extremely hard. We love u aussie, keep up the hard work
DX11 actually has a setting through which you can test input delay, it would be something called latency flash or something, after turning that on you need to go to the section with your net debug stats/hud menu and right above your net debug stats should be your latency debug stats. Just switch that on and it actually show the amount of input delay
Use simple, non reactive, non animated skins and wraps, with no particle effects. (Skins like Aura, Mogul Masters aren’t *bad* , OG skins that are basically recolours or defaults like recon expert etc. I don’t know about solid superheroes because it’s customizable and the game needs to load in ) (Wraps like Bogeyman from wick’s bounty and black steel which comes out when the wrap skins drop) Pickaxes should stay simple. (Stuff like Harley hitter, the [crow/bold/gold] bars, the driver or dauntless driver, default, etc. Two handed pickaxes with the regular animations are the best) Use the default umbrella or one of the most simple umbrellas (c2s2, the chapter 1 season 1 umbrella, the gold umbrella, wicks bounty umbrella, c1s7, c1s2, 3,4,5,6, all those. They work wonderfully and allow you to dodge getting beamed midair) Or if you’re really committed, default everything no wrap no back bling and the default win umbrella
I think these tests need to be done and a breakdown needs to be shown. If this was the super smashbros community. Mew 2 king would already have all this figured out. We need someone like that in tge community. Nothing but love Aussie keep it up
As a person who likes to play and grind competitive,but is using a bad laptop to play I see a decent improvement in my fps and input delay. So it does work
Basically all the skins that don’t animate, move or react, also on performance mode I think more skins work because Epic has already deactivated some physics, for example I would feel the Crystal skin on Performance mode is also a low input delay skin but isn’t one if you use Dx11 or 12
I have had bad FPS problems this entire season, and changing my skin & pickaxe to one of these has helped so much. Appreciate what you do for the community. Keep it up dude ✅

If you think about it this is actually a really good idea for epic games to fix their competitive servers. They don’t have to just ban these skins form comp, they can make these skins for free and tell everyone to use it so the servers aren’t that laggy.
I don’t think this has much effect on next-gen consoles. Frame rate on the next gen consoles seems to be capped at far below the actual fps capabilities, thereby leaving a lot of room for graphical strain. I tested an optimized vs unoptimized loadout (motorcycle skin with driver pickaxe and stealth black, and max stage Drift with a pickaxe with an electricity animation and the raver animated wrap). Both of these combos in creative saw framerate drops to 115 equally.
5:50 its actually better to cap ur fps at 1 above ur monitor unless its 240 or 360 bc lets say i have a 60 fps cap, any fps drops will to about 50 or 40, if i cap it at 120 they will go to about 80 to 100 based on ur specs
I play console(oldgen). I noticed this recently as well. I’ve noticed for a couple weeks before I even knew this was an actual thing now. I noticed my delay was higher or lower with certain skins. I was kinda annoyed bc if I got really cracked with a skin with low input delay and I wanted to change it. I would have to get used to that delay. It’s really annoying tbh. I want low delay on everything. I thought it was just me but now I realize that this is a legitimate thing. I wish they would come out with a console performance mode.
You could do a very controlled test of a 100 people lobby in which you tell everyone to not kill anyone and just have like 90 people box up in first zone. Do something like this with a lobby with efficient skins and heavy effect skins. It could be a really good test
I tried it on console Aussie and I can’t say it changes anything, hard to see an improvement in FPS when we only have 60 I will test it out in scrims and see if it is more stable in a stacked endgame

about the cap thing: the nvidia reflex setting in fortnite is made to take care of this. you can run unlimited fps and turning the nvidia reflex setting to on+boost it gets rid of old frames and puts out the newest frames as soon as tge monitor is ready for the next frame

Smoothness and input delay basically depend on 0.1% and 1% lows. You can't measure latency only with average and 95% frames. Not saying that the skin method to increase fps doesn't work, but this video lowkey lacks proper testing with CapFrameX.
alot of people think that the catwoman pickaxe is actually a example of the placebo effect(thinking it has an effect so you believe in yourself and you play better when really it is no different from other pickaxes)

Everytime I’m fighting this season im switching to guns I ran through off auto pick up and switching to them automatically and then when I’m going into fights I have some random weapon instead of my shotgun idk who epic is helping with that but it ain’t me. Pub player mad sry I do play competitive too and I’d be more than pissed if that happened in a tourney *** talk about this****
The server has nothing to do in performance with people wearing one skin or another, i mean the server just syncs player positions/actions while the client places the player model in the place the server said.

As a ps4 player I've always noticed a huge difference when I'm just playing casual and wearing an animated pickaxe. The game just feel so chunky

Performance mode isnt possible for console fortnite but changing graphics is possible
