Ultimaker, PLEASE make this improvement. When trying to diagnose a filament JAM, it would really help to use CLEAR plastic when manufacturing the following parts; In the Material Station the Merger's should be clear plastic, not black. BTW, the merger should be called a manifold. On the back both Decouplers should be clear as well the cover for the #1 and 2 stepper feed units also clear. We should be able to view the filament throughout it's path without having to disassemble anything. This is a simple request the injection molds don't care if you use White or clear, for your next production run just use clear.
Not currently, no. The basic printing capabilities of the Ultimaker S5 are not changed by the Material Station. You're still limited to printing two materials/colors at a time. So you could install two of the AA print cores and do a print that includes two different colors oof PLA (by using two separate models and assigning one color to each model in the Cura slicer), but you would not be able to do more than 2 colors in one print.
I am new to 3D printing but have a relatively simple design that requires 2 different materials but would like to also include water soluble structural support for each. If I were to load material 1, material 2, and 2 spools of dissolvable filament each running to different extruders could I make that work? Basically when Material 1/Extruder 1 is used it would access Dissolvable Material from Extruder 2. Then when it used Material 2 from Extruder 2 it would access the other spool of Dissolvable filament feeding through Extruder 1.
No, that is not supported. You can only print with two materials per print - one for extruder 1 and another for extruder 2. So you could do either a single color print with PVA supports or a two-color print without PVA supports.
hello i have ultimaker 2 i can't reset the factory parameters on the 3 page gives the error Er05 swift Z i was measuring with a multimeter and it's ok how can i do it now i already connected usb cable and the computer does not detect the printer thanks for a help thanks.
Each spool of Ultimaker brand filament has an NFC chip that the Material Station reads to identify the type and color. If you use 3rd party filament, you need to select the material type manually using the touch panel on the printer.
No, printing with more than two materials in a single print is not supported. The Material Station is designed to automate the process of loading and unloading different materials, but you can still only select one material for each of the two extruders for any given print job.

Hepa is for chemicals :D Nothing to do with 3d printing. The only particles when the extruder shred the filament. But then in the front can go out without filter.
Yes, its 3k for the spool holder that does not dry the material or really appear to do a great deal other than feed the material into the extruder? The issue I have with even a 10k machine is even with all the fancy additions...its still very slow. Maybe not slow for where we are for 3D printing at this stage...but ultra slow in regards to anything related to actual production or what they call "industrial." I own 3D printers and they are all very enjoyable to use for prototyping which doesn't really require a great deal of speed but beyond that...your almost alway better off getting multi-machines that can do the specific requirements that you are looking for. Even a double extruder is almost always shown printing two objects out side by side. If that is what you want to use a double extruder for than you are 100% better off simply buying a second machine...your paying a hefty price for a second extruder. Just my thoughts.
A HEPA filter eh ?, A single, double or if your rich, Triple toilet paper will filter down to 1mn. Kitchen roll will do the same job. JOB. Kerching me bud.
Yeah bro, toilet paper will do what engineered filters can and more. Just add more toilet paper layers right? They should just use toilet paper on the space station, after all it's so great.
Great overview. Now I know I need to add this to my S5.
That was outstanding!!!

That’s a really good suggestion! I shared your comment directly with my contacts at Ultimaker, so I hope they’ll consider doing this.
@@3duniverseOrgWelcomesYou thank you,
we can lead a company to water...
If you have 5 PLA colors loaded, can you swap them (during the print) by specifying that somewhere in the .gcode?

can it use materials other than ultimaker brand? aka cheaper alternatives?

@@3duniverseOrgWelcomesYou I was afraid that was the case. Thank you for speedy confirmation.
How would this printer compare the Stratasys F170 other than cost?
That’s too bad. It would be cool to do five color prints some day! Thanks for the info 👍

How do these accessories work if you do not want to use Cura and prefer to use S3D?
wish I could even afford the s5 :(
How much is it?

Could this print a leg?
How is recognise the type of filament and its colour?

Is it posble to with more that 2 materials at the same time?. For example TPU+PLA in nozzle 1 and PVA as support in nozzle 2?

Dont just talk and not action show the actual printing to proven the product is wokring well and printing quality are good.
It is beuatiful...Too bad the price is so disgusting. First thing to buy if i do win the lottery.
