Juicy, tender chicken covered by seasoned breading with soft, fluffy waffles. What they have here seems legit.
im from the south, the waffle is supposed to be the sweet part to balance out the juicy salty tender pieces of chicken
Mild sweet waffle, savory chicken. Preferably the waffle is a cornmeal waffle 😛
Im from the south and the most common thing is soft waffles with chicken that has crunchy seasoned skin and syrup (or spicy syrup IYKYK) so kind of like a sweet savory moment, but it definitely can vary because of peoples taste but thats what I know
When I was a kid, my dad convinced me that chicken and waffles was ONLY for people that forgot to eat breakfast and had to "catch up" on their meals by having both breakfast and lunch together. Didn't know any different until I went to the south and proclaimed "wow, so many people forgot to eat breakfast today" in a restaurant. I was in my early 20s. Good one dad, good one 😐

That looks pretty good, but most of the chicken and waffles I've had has been a piece of chicken fried chicken on a waffle, so you can eat it together. It's one of my favorite breakfast foods when I go out though!

When I make my Chicken in Waffles I make either a Bourbon Maple Butter or Strawberry Butter. Us Southern Girls love our Chicken and Waffles! There is a Resteraunt here in Charlotte NC that makes a Sweet Tea Butter. So yummy! 😋

I’m from the south, I would say it looks a lot like the ones we eat here. Southern fried chicken is most the time a little sweet (with chicken and waffles) and the waffles are decently fluffy. I think they look pretty similar so 9/10. Im so glad that more people are starting to eat southern food!
I like to have some hot sauce (i'd recommend Crystal) on the side with mine. The crispy savory salty chicken with some dabs of vinegary hot sauce plus the contrast of the sweet fluffy syrupy sticky waffles is a huge hit. It's pretty much all flavors on one plate.
For some reason Crystal tastes fishy to me. I have no idea why.
I usually just use red pepper flakes, I’ll try crystal next time 😊

Usually the chicken doesn't have bones in it so that you can cut the chicken and the waffle at the same time, so you get to eat them together. I've some with hot sauce and syrup or honey and syrup so it's whatever you prefer.
Where? I've never seen authentic chicken and waffles with chicken strips on top.
I also prefer the cornmeal waffles for the more savory taste.
@@MissSimone02 Not chicken strips, everytime I've had them they have been a different part of the chicken like the breast or stuff like that. I think it's just how different restaurants prepare it.

All I'm saying is, real southern fried chicken is ALWAYS bone in. Otherwise it's considered a chicken strip.

You can get ice cream on waffles- it’s called waffles a la mode. or sometimes Belgian waffles a la mode!
In my city, all the waffle shops offer waffles and ice cream. It tastes yummy😁 I didn't knew it could be paired with fried chicken 😳

Chicken and waffles is prefect for a brunch. Chicken is salty and the waffles are sweet. And hopefully the syrup didnt soften the chicken skin. Thats the best part

I’m from the South and I personally find Cracker Barrel bland. Maybe it’s just the ones I’ve been to.
@@MooseTactic I think it depends on whoever is in the kitchen that day. At my local Cracker Barrel, it’s usually awesome and flavorful, but occasionally it’ll be bland as heck.

It tastes like heaven. Of course.
I once went to this concept restaurant that no longer exists, and it was the BEST chicken and waffles I’ve ever had in my life. 3 huge pieces of fried chicken on Belgian waffles with warm bourbon maple syrup, bacon and a dusting of powdered sugar. If I was on death row I’d request it as my last meal 🤤

That looks amazing. I’ve had this and it sounds odd but it’s the fatty/crispy chicken with the sweet that is actually really good. But I also just like the chicken on its own drizzled in a sweet and spicy sauce.
There's this tiny place next to my house and I got it and it was like $20 but it came with like a WHOLE CHICKEN worth of chicken and the Belgium waffles & it was the BEST chicken I've ever had..chicken and waffles are one of my my FAV meals!

Interesting fact about ice cream in restaurants. If you ever see a "display case" of the dessert offerings that the restaurant has, the scoops of ice cream are usually either made out of either vegetable shortening or butter. They scoop it out of the tub with an actual ice cream scoop. It looks real but it doesn't melt.

While you are at Kansas you should really try this restaurant Manilla Bay!! It is a hole in the wall Filipino restaurant! I love it! It's sooo good! If you want more mid-west food try Captains corner another family restaurant there is soooo many more places if you would like to know!
You said ice cream & it reminded me of my 64 yr old Dad coming back to our table at a buffet restaurant. He had a bowl with what I assumed was a scoop of French vanilla & chocolate sauce. About the time I remembered they only had soft serve ice cream, my Dad took a big spoonful & promptly left it in his napkin. Yeah, a big scoop of butter from the baked potato bar & chocolate sauce. He left a big tip & made us leave fast😄😄😄
I have had fried chicken and waffles from a small stand during a day of the dead celebration, it was surprisingly good! The person who was running the stand was a black lady with a thick southern accent so my bet is that's the most legit version I can get since I live in California

I'm originally from Columbus, Georgia. My folks originated from SC, mostly the gullah geechee area. Our version of “Southern Food” isn't always deep-fried or heavily slathered with butter. However, this good be a good contender for Chicken and waffles 👍🏾.

I made the same mistake with thinking that the butter was ice cream! Years ago my Dad had took my siblings and I to Cracker Barrel and I ordered the blueberry pancakes, so I put a scoop of butter in my mouth because I thought it was ice cream. 😂

My Granny is as southern fried as it gets. From Virginia/North Carolina. We never had chicken and waffles. She did make some mean fried chicken, killed the chicken herself, homemade buttermilk biscuits/gravy and green beans. 💚

Usually it's a breast or boneless thigh. Sometimes a strip. That way you can get both in one bite. Easily one of my favorites

A couple weeks after my aunt can to the U.S, she went out to eat and thought the butter was a thing of ice cream and but the whole thing in her mouth.
As someone from Texas it's not bad, but the style I usually get has spicy chicken with the waffles. It's a great combo
