You taught me in this video that after correctly spacing and being put into a position to attack, a very good strategy is to ACTUALLY just wait and see if they roll, and then if they do you can get the easy roll catch! Then if they decide to attack you use your barbaric roar R2 to hyperarmor! I know this sounds very obvious but i just started elden ring pvp like 3 days ago and this has improved my fights HUGELY

holy crap, the ripple crescent fight near the end was insane.
this whole video was incredible to watch, as it was a perfect blend of high ceiling PvP skills along with all of the fundamentals. The number of hard swaps you managed with your talismans was crazy, but at the same time, I only really saw you using two variations of the same flail? One with Barbaric Roar and one with Beast Roar, so while you squeezed out that little bit of extra optimisation with the hard swaps, overall every battle relied on a fundamental understanding of the flail itself and how to space. The largest benefit to hard swapping is the variety and mind games it provides by being able to swap to any weapon on you, but with that basically denied to you here it gives a really good show of just how necessary it is to master fundamentals above everything else. Two flails and an off hand highland axe is easily achievable with soft swaps. Its the sort of thing any player can use, though their damage wouldnt necessarily be as obtimized if they needed to invest more in endurance or swap a talisman out for great jar.

For the most part you can in the arena and get by on just punishing whiffs and poor movement/spacing, it’s only when you run into people with meta setups *who also know how to use them really well* that you actually get hard countered. Which isn’t that common honestly. For a lot of people there are probably non-meta weapons that suit their playstyle better and give them much more success than the “meta” setups

Genuine question: I saw the guy at 6:50 trying to parry you a couple of times and thought "Ha, can't parry the flail." but then I remembered you saying parriable AOWs put on nonparriable weapons can still be parried...can barbaric war not be parried on flails? I've gotten pretty good at running up and parrying the 3rd swing of its unique heavy is why I ask. Thanks.
Cant parry the unique r2 with flail, no. I actually didnt know at the time of recording, i looked it up later cuz i was curious

How are you doing those quick reverse jump attacks after a running r1 ? 31:55
I have an older video going over various jump tech, but when you hold block, you can (almost) instantly sprint jump. So i unlock, hold block, take a half step, cue jump, and immediately flick my direction. Cant do it while locked on

As painful as that beast sling guy must’ve been at the moment, it was actually quite something to watch in the end
It wasnt that bad really, i just had to be patient and wait for the mistakes, would have been nice to swap to ts or fan daggers to finish but i sorta respected him because it seemed like he was genuinely trying to play well and not just head-empty spamming rocks and rolling after every sling. If anything it was a nice break between sets of trying to space 250ms halberds

Yea, i tend to play pretty passive. I prefer to win by playing well rather than win because my opponents make the wrong 50/50. But it largely comes down to numbers. Does my opponent have hyperarmor, do they have passive poise to tank my backswing, do i have health advantage, but besides that, flail sucks for aggressing. No range. The likelyhood that ill wiff and get punished is very high, so id rather avoid it.

why do you have an axe in the offhand?
It has a special effect where it buffs the damage of Roar attacks, even if you're 2-handing the other weapon. Rust is using roar AoWs in most of his clips, so it's free damage. (Flails need all the help they can get).

no, packet loss occurs when someone has a very poor internet connection that causes data sent and recieved to be interpretted improperly. So you get instances like this where he suddenly executes 5 different animations at the same time, because the data got clogged, and finally got sent through all at once. It can be manipulated by things like a lag switch. When people lagswitch, it usually looks very intentional. you might see them eat a starlight shard right before hand or start a cast that looks like it gets stuck. At the time, i has suspicion he was lag switching, hence the shitpot. but he honestly probably was just on bad wifi.@@Am_Kosmos
