Kestrel Babies June 2013

A nest of American Kestrel babies were discovered by a crew replacing utility poles for American Transmission. M.J. Electric's crew thought it may be a woodpecker nest so they very carefully cut out the section of utility pole and gently lowered it with their boom truck. It wasn't a nest of woodpeckers, but this nest of American Kestrels!

Whoever is feeding them he only feed some the others are going hungry
Should have more patience with them.Looks like he is in a hurry to get rid of the food ,,,,even when the food drops he doesn't pick it up and they are slipping in the food
Feel skirt for the the one which is being completely left out

Nope. You stuff the big ones first. When they are full, that shuts them down and they go into a "food coma". There is then less bullying for food and you can then feed the smaller ones without having the big ones causing problems. If you watch eagle, falcon and kestrel nest cams online, the adults feed the aggressive, greedy chicks first, then the smaller chicks.

meat feeding chicklets needn't smash because even the hardest bone and hard stuff can be easily digested by the birds of prey and fowls. Only mammal animals including human who have feed milk required soft and tender food. Crocodile and birds have special digestive system.
