Billy Yap , I would settle for dispersed overseas manufacturing across countries that have some stability, and at least basic democratic institutions. If we can’t bring all the manufacturing home, at least transfer it to more open countries.
More middle and high end manufacturing are going to China due to supply chain and vast market in China. The low end manufacturing will go to third world. China make products is cheaper is mainly due to the supply chain factor.

Why do you want manufacturing jobs to comeback to the US? Even if those jobs do comeback they will be replaced by robots.

US and the West can bring back their manufacturing but definitely the cost is way high and non competitive.
