    Given that buying ollas outright is ridiculously expensive, using clay pots with their lids glued on makes a good alternative as well.
    Some use milk jugs, but I've found the clay pots to work better IMO.

    Wonderful ! The Ollas are colaborating with nature and has no plastic, which we have to avoid immediately. Thanks

    If you live in a climate that feezes in the winter, will the Olla's crack? Would you need to dig them out each fall and put them back in sping?

      Yes! Be careful with this system in winter climates. When your plants start to go dormant before the freeze, its best to pull these out of the ground.

    • @TileBitan
      @TileBitan 4 года назад +3

      dont do that, although water is able to go through the low temp fired clay, some chemicals are not. If you put a lot of those in the water, they fill the pores

      @@TileBitan Yeah, I never use chems, but I'm sure even the natural fertilizers that I use, homemade teas, FPJ, lacto, would probably do the same thing anyway.

      @@natureboy6410 exactly, any chemical substance aside from the ones that can pass through the fired clay (i.e. water, alcohol) can obstruct the mechanism, natural or not
