I wouldn't say that other metal bands aren't good live... Metallica? Motörhead? Avenged Sevenfold? Iron Maiden? Anthrax? Black Sabbath? Slayer? If you think the singers of those and many other bands can't sing, I highly recommend you to visit a doctor.
I think when he says random metal bands he means lesser known bands, the ones that fall in the realm of playing one guitar chord, hammering the drums and yelling nonsense, ffdp are much better than those types of bands. At least that's what I read from this comment

garret phillips his screams/growls are starting to lose their edge, but I think that's just age. I'd argue his clean vocals are stronger than ever. His cleans are outstanding at the moment, and his growls are still great, just not what they one were
I hope you realize most of the missing lyrics are from when the crowd finishes the verse for them. They specifically didn't record the crowd, so you can hear the song more clearly. Otherwise, you'd just be hearing screaming
