For the first time no Russian, american or any European players are there but players from two Asian powerhouses are competing for world championship, i.e some former american, Russian and Europeans players cannot digest this fact and are disregarding this world championship. But I guess we have to ignore them and enjoy this world championship clash.....
None of the Singaporean Chinese pronunced Ding Liren as Ding Lizhen. Only the non-Chinese did. And I think Sagar is to blame for it. Even in the interview with Ding Liren, Ding himself never pronunced his name as "Lizhen". It's a different type of 'r', but definitely not 'zh'. Sagar almost forced Ding to nod when he said " It's Lizhen, right? It's Lizhen, right?".
@@mrithunjoyroy4087 Even Tamil L(it's also there in Malayalam btw) is not pronunced as zh. It's a retroflex L, and has nothing to with zh. Tamil people use a lot of unconventional spelling conventions which make no sense. For example they will use Geetha for Geeta thinking that adding an h somehow changes retroflex into non-retroflex. But 'h' has nothing to with retroflex, it is all about aspirated sounds. But Ding Liren is definitely not pronunced as Ding Lizhen. You can clearly hear that none of the Chinese pronunced his name as Lizhen, only the non-Chinese did that mistake.
People will find anything to criticize lol. But anyway I really appreciate all the effort that went into this amazing ceremony! I particularly enjoyed the reveal of the colors. Thank you Chessbase India for posting this, and best of luck to Ding and Gukesh!!
How does this sound ???? Ding vs Gukesh (14 Match WCC): Match1: Ding Wins after Gukesh blunders a drawish position due to WCC pressure and the kind of attention he gets. Score: 1-0 Match 2-5: Dull Draws (Gukesh wants to settle down, so goes bookish, Ding ,fully aware of not being his best, plays it absolute safe) Score: 3-2 Match 6: Gukesh is now fully equipped with the situation and starts playing aggressive chess, but Ding holds him somehow. Score: 3.5-2.5 Match 7: Both play to a draw, midway. Score: 4-3 Match 8: Law of averages catch up with Ding, and he loses with some poor play. Scores level at: 4-4 Match 9-10: Gukesh goes on his absolute best, puts Ding under severe pressure, and manages to outplay him in both. Scores: 4-6. History calling .... Match 11: Ding comes back with a bang, plays an incredible game at 3000 elo level that Gukesh has no answers to: Score: 5-6 Match 12: Both players are now exhausted, and settle for a draw. Score: 5.5-6.5 Match 13: Gukesh prepares to go for a draw even before the 1st move, but Ding doesn't relent, match goes on for 100+ moves, Ding blunders at the fag end after a 7 hr play, and Gukesh wins. Final Score: 5.5-7.5 And, Gukesh becomes the youngest WCC, and is all set to meet either Nordirbek or Arjun for the next WCC in 2026 !!
I hope that it's a decent contest- Ding's form since becoming champion has been well below par. He's barely recognisable and is pretty much the underdog based on recent form. It would be psychologically dreadful if he were to be utterly dominated by Gukesh, so I'm rooting for a contest replete with some sparkling games, one that does a service to both players and to the game itself.
It is not necessary that the number 1 in the ranking has to play in the final, as we often see in games like cricket and football. So, why do people criticize this World Championship for not having Magnus? I am personally very excited about this tournament
What do you think the world champion title is?Its the title the best in the world holds, while ding is a very good player, its true that Magnus is the best.
@lucifertheend so just because he withdrew the whole tournament looses its value? Magnus is arguably isnt even best at classical anymore. In rapid , blitz and bullet you can say he still is the best but not in classical right now.
@@-Bloodthirsty Bro just bcz he doesn't play classical anymore regularly doesn't mean that you guys start calling him not the best anymore in classical , I genuinely believe he can still run through the whole fide cycle and become world champion again if he wants to but it just isn't valuable for him anymore. @-Bloodthirsty just as Garry Kasparov said, the world championship title should be held by the best player in the world, while magnus might not be the best in classical, he's still a better player than both ding and Gukesh, you gotta admit that, even in classical

In the United Nations official regional groups list, Russia is considered as a European region. So officially, Russians see themselves as part of that continent. However, geographically speaking, yes, Russia spans both Europe and Asia. Being from Russia himself, I think the FIDE president took the former official view which is quite common amongst Russians.
it is a bit creepy these two countries facing off. Not much of free speech and equality among people going on there. I know Magnus can´t take that responsability but I sure would like to see a World Chess Champ we can be proud of and not one that is scared of his government
