@U579 it is, but you can still put it on an isochron scepter because the spell is 2 mana cost but the card is 4, or something like that, I'm not a judge.
@IdsFear Thanks for the information. I can't believe that... right after their run at worlds... and the tiebreaker at Paris. Why would he (or anyone for that matter) receive a full spoiler? Did he come by it illegally, or did wizards give it to him?
@cata the deck was solar flare and it used boros angels, not dragons. The dragons from Rav that saw play was hunted dragon in dragon storm and wrap world for the haste. Also that hellbent 4cc dragon that saw play in the red/black discard/madness deck... Shivan should have been on the list as well as Bolas... At least honorable mention. :)
I like how Fire/Ice's Ice ability was the only one that was spoken about and if like to do the top 8 wost creatures someday or top8 pump spells if we are on green next
@Blubitch your agruement made some valid points, but I must say good sir that "waah" in that context would be spelled "Waahhhhhhhhhh". Also, to point out, red is not for the tight assed pro tour scene, so it unfortunetly would recieve a crappy presention from world renouned Louis Scott Varges (I appologize for any last name errors).
@Niksorus I've been playing since ravinica, so I wouldn't know too much about the cards in red. I made comment based on the red cards i know and, personally, love using. I'm not a very serious player either, except when too otherwise great professional make a "mock" video about my favorite color in magic. It's the presentation and overall set up of the episode that bugged me, not the list.
A 1drop 1/1 haster is about half as good as a 1drop 2/2 haster, which is probably why it didn't make the list. Goblin Guide is used in every format he is legal in, now players only resort to Raging Goblin if they're only playing on a budget. Goblin Welder is much more useful, and it doesn't have haste. Plus its flavor text is completely backwards for how it's used.
No Goblin Welder? The card was defining Vintage for a whole period, and still is a high power card. I was expecting it at #1. Bolt is just a fair great card.
@magmarex1 Except, a long time before Red Sun's Zenith was printed there was a combo with Black Lotus, Channel, and Fireball. It was an instant win. This was before there were even restrictions for the amount of any one card in a deck (so they would run 20 of each piece), and the rule for mulligans was you automatically got a free one if there were no lands in your hand, no matter how many mulligans you already had. Fireball is much more important to the history of the game :)
@saintrith Thanks. Finally, someone who doesn't believe in "fascism" (terrible title for control players I know, but I'm pissed). I'm more so a casual shenanigans player, so I can see how a control player would present red in this way. This episode just showed a level of unproffessionalism, not in the list, but how this video was made overall.
@MATTierial Guillaume Matignon got the spoiler cause he writes for a french mtg magazine, he shared it with wafo toppa and 2 otehrs. Matignon was banned for 3 years, the others for 1.5 years.
@Darklordbrink all great cards. Protean Hulk deserves a mention too, and so does Tooth and Nail (the only thing that could stand up to affinity, irrc?) Still, none of these cards hold a candle to the 'goyf ;)
@MATTierial wizards supplies mtg magazine writers with the spoiler book to help with articles, not every writer gets this list, but matignon was one of them. Search matignon leaked the spoiler on google and it leads to an article on the wizards home page.
@brothir obviously tarmogoyf is the best green card ever printed. Titan will get a nod, as will sylvan library, and possibly oath of druids. Other than that. . . xantid swarm?
@rother011 Actually, red has the worst pool of card when you look at it globally. Far from being "the worst color hands down" (no color is), it's not exactly a color of broken cards (unlike black or blue).
at first i was disappointed that they didn't even give Nicol Bolas an honorable mention, then i realised that this video was made some months before that card even existed.
The Creature Nicol Bolas was released in Legends and the planeswalker was released originally in Conflux, both before this video. He didn't get mentioned because he hasn't seen much play.
So Flametongue Kavu made the Top 8 list of best ever creatures and doesn't make the Top 8 list for best red cards? Ahh the subjectivity changes with every day of the week it seems.
It wasn't "creatures ever" that list was top "#1 creatures". Because kavu defined a format for a year+ but was soon replaced. Not currently powerful, but important in its day.
wow awesome editing at the end guys.
1st best red card... the blue side!
Good list. I love the "behind the scenes" parts of these videos for some reason.
I love how #10 is a blue card.
But all of these cards are blue...
I won't say these are the best red cards, but they have a special place in my heart; Skizzik, and Ball Lightning
Looking back your diet/exercise plan was really something. Kudos to u for looking after yourself and representig tha game bro.
@U579 it is, but you can still put it on an isochron scepter because the spell is 2 mana cost but the card is 4, or something like that, I'm not a judge.
Great video, really enjoy the bonus lists.
@IdsFear Thanks for the information. I can't believe that... right after their run at worlds... and the tiebreaker at Paris. Why would he (or anyone for that matter) receive a full spoiler? Did he come by it illegally, or did wizards give it to him?
YES, ANOTHER MAGIC TV!
2:07 I love Jin-Gitasias, Core Augur!
Segway pic was amazing!
Goblin Guide + Black Vise?
@lifeinsepia Are there any best green cards?
do a top 8 - colors. No. 1 = Blue, no. 6 = colorless, and what about multicolored?
I like how Fire/Ice's Ice ability was the only one that was spoken about and if like to do the top 8 wost creatures someday or top8 pump spells if we are on green next
What about imperial recruiter? Such a crazy card did not even get a mention?
@Blubitch your agruement made some valid points, but I must say good sir that "waah" in that context would be spelled "Waahhhhhhhhhh". Ok guys so would you keep a hand of Swamp, Bitterblossom, Faerie Conclave, Remand, 2 of Hearts, Mark Maguire rookie card, and Uno skip card?
All day
so what was the #1 dragon?
What's up with the screen being black for the last 10 seconds or so?
I saw on the prices at the bottom "wyrmcoil engine 4.00$" -_-
@Semnyi it used to be so that if you caused an infinite loop of triggers you loose the game. dunno about now.
Kiki-Jiki, Bloodmoon, Burning wish, Squee, goblin nabob, Anger, Piledriver, Goblin Welder?
When I saw no. 8 I got the sneaking suspicion that they aren't taking red and green *quite* as seriously as the others... ;)
A 1drop 1/1 haster is about half as good as a 1drop 2/2 haster, which is probably why it didn't make the list. No Fork, eh? I had a burn deck that Fork'ed the Fireblast...crazy stuff
Waffo Toppa leaked the spoiler? How'd he'd get ahold of it in the first place?
top 8 multi color creatures. I really like playing red after i started playing it a lot
No Goblin Welder?
The card was defining Vintage for a whole period, and still is a high power card.
I was expecting it at #1. Bolt is just a fair great card.
How the did Nicol Bolas not make the top 8 Dragon list?
@magmarex1 Except, a long time before Red Sun's Zenith was printed there was a combo with Black Lotus, Channel, and Fireball. It was an instant win. This was before there were even restrictions for the amount of any one card in a deck (so they would run 20 of each piece), and the rule for mulligans was you automatically got a free one if there were no lands in your hand, no matter how many mulligans you already had. eerie black silence for like ten seconds before the end there
Bruce Lee? It's kind of hard for him to kick butt from the grave.
Dismember is also one of the best red cards.
Top 8 Green: Mystic Snake, Wall of Blossoms, Carven Caryatid, Greater Good, etc. Yeah, green has some blue cards. :P
indeed but it wasn't out yet :)
no jersey for the playoffS?
I guess: faithless looting, lightning Bolt, eidolon of revells, gamble, through the breach, sneak attack, past in flames, ....
@saintrith Thanks. Finally, someone who doesn't believe in "fascism" (terrible title for control players I know, but I'm pissed). I'm more so a casual shenanigans player, so I can see how a control player would present red in this way. No Eternal Dragon?
no Dromar or Rith in the dragons list? :(
Fireball > Disintegrate because it sounds better after Channel (Channel Fireball > Channel Disintegrate).
Worldgorger Dragooon i love this card!
no sneak attack?
why not a top 8 blue white carts
lsv lost a lot of weight
They should have put Liu Kang on the Dragon List!!!
Isn't fire/ice 4 cmc?
no Welder?
Burning Wish "should" be number 1... I don't really like their explanation of not having it there.
@MATTierial Guillaume Matignon got the spoiler cause he writes for a french mtg magazine, he shared it with wafo toppa and 2 otehrs. Matignon was banned for 3 years, the others for 1.5 years.
.....ah someone forgot to cut the video?
No Grim Lavamancer or Goblin Welder? Not even a mention?
Big miss guys.
@Darklordbrink all great cards. Protean Hulk deserves a mention too, and so does Tooth and Nail (the only thing that could stand up to affinity, irrc?)
Still, none of these cards hold a candle to the 'goyf ;)
these guys win at being awesome
it's here
Top 8 "Planeswalkers" or "Legendary Creatures"
@Jawjaw69 yeah him and mattingon but it was really mattingon cuz he's the one who had the "godbook" in the first place
Yep, Lavamancer is a monster.
@rother011 Actually, red has the worst pool of card when you look at it globally. Far from being "the worst color hands down" (no color is), it's not exactly a color of broken cards (unlike black or blue).
LSV on a Segway priceless!
Goblin Guide should be on here.
best. thing. ever.
Cool!
I agree with the top 1 dragon
lol bruce lee, that was epic.
at first i was disappointed that they didn't even give Nicol Bolas an honorable mention, then i realised that this video was made some months before that card even existed.
the creature or planeswalker? Also this was meant for mono red cards...
Cody Head and yet fire ice made it on....
The Creature Nicol Bolas was released in Legends and the planeswalker was released originally in Conflux, both before this video. He didn't get mentioned because he hasn't seen much play.
Lightning Bolt... surprise surprise.
I think personally that kibler is a better dragon than bruce lee but that's just personal preference.
@hpskaterpa Hopefully NPH makes him less of a problem. Then again, he's Jace and can do anything he wants.
It is.
SEGWAY!!!! And no phone ringing!? come on!
Bring drafts back to youtube please. Put ads on here I don't care.
@Davesghola even cooler is imprinting a Research and casting Development.
Top 8 Top 8s
So Flametongue Kavu made the Top 8 list of best ever creatures and doesn't make the Top 8 list for best red cards? Ahh the subjectivity changes with every day of the week it seems.
It wasn't "creatures ever" that list was top "#1 creatures". Because kavu defined a format for a year+ but was soon replaced. Not currently powerful, but important in its day.
I agree with #1
I would have put the original Nicol Bolas card on this list....
Where is Eternal Dragon on this list? He was easily more played than Keiga and Covetus
WOPA GOT BANNED FOR LEAKING THE SPOILER?
It is...
why do not do top 8 mulitycouler
hm...were would figure of destiny fit in! it still good today...
You take 4 off bob, and it does balance for 2, so its hazy. Technically it is 2.
Kilnmouth dragon is great!
WHAT ABOUT GOBLIN WELDER? THAT WAS YOUR NUMBER 1 BEST 1 DROP ON YOUR LIST AND ITS NOT EVEN IN THE TOP 8?
So...7 of these cards do blue things...
Is Humphrey holding a YU-GI-OH card?!?!
I think sneak attack should be up there...
Tristan wasn't wearing a hockey jersey? WAT
Fire/Ice is #8 on the red card list... keep mentioning the blue (ice) choice. Ah red, how we hate thee.
looks like its Eron
forgot grim lavamancer
Goblin Guide is number 7...
Best Blue Cards...nuff sedd -_-
