If you follow the case the plan was keep it out of the public domain while the election campaign was ongoing paying in instalments and if Trump lost he would stop paying because it wouldn’t matter. There’s no blackmail going on it was to keep the public from not knowing what he was doing during an election campaign and that’s the crime because it’s election interference. If he hadn’t been running for office there would be no crime. Unfortunately for Trump the case has uncovered more crimes of fraud so he’ll have more indictments coming and fraud is easily proven as is mishandling of classified documents unless he’s a bent judge delaying everything deliberately.
