Eh, for 4 mana you're essentially taking the turn off to set up. Meanwhile you could be playing Writhing Chrysalis on the same curve and be ahead on board.
Chrysalis I’d venture to say is the best common we’ve ever seen on arena and that’s even accounting for the high relative power level of this format. Genuinely I think 40% of the games I’ve lost are my opponent having it.
You will never not be my favorite RUclipsr. Literally the only channel that I have notifications on for. I wouldn’t be half of the limited player I am now if not for your videos.
These follow up videos are so helpful! Love how you point out where you are off and why. Been using your grades to help me make close calls in the draft and i'm 15-8 so far with a 3-3, 5-3 and 7-2. Thanks again!!
I almost never subscribe to any channel … but I love how you break things down , your voice is not annoying and you seem very genuine… love your videos bud
Writhing Chrysalis peaked at over 67% somewhere last week. I suppose people adapted to it, which is always insane to say when talking about a limited format
Reef Worm is also crazy with Cthonian Nightmare to create insane Maruader loops or whatever, but that’s really just an extension of your build around C grade because it’s still sacrifice synergy
Chrysalis has single handily brought back RG Stompy and Ponza back into pauper, its an incredibly messed up common. We have not really had green decks perform this well in pauper in a long time besides the occasional walls combo or elf ball randomly getting a top placing.
@@ChromaToneMusicNot to mention in energy decks you can easily steal any creature save for Emrakul. You often have 5 energy in your pool and Stormdrake gives you an extra 4 to play with so all the 7-drops running around are easily stolen
I played it in a draft and in a sealed and wasnt that great for me. It's good on turn two on an empty board, but if your opponent doesn't have good creatures giving then a 3/2 flier is a bad idea, meaning it's literally unplayable on some board. For me it's closer to a C
My friends and I did a paper sealed night and I opened two Chrysalis. Everyone else opened zero or one of it's colours were their weakest. I did not lose a single game. The card is absolutely ridiculous. A few of the common signposts are quite strong for commons, but Chrysalis is in a category all it's own. Just as absolutely batty card all things considered.
Reef Worm sometimes has a home in the UB draw deck if it has a sacrifice subtheme. Sneaky Snacker encourages you to have sacrifice effects, most notably Eviscerator's Insight which triggers your draw 3s and loops the Snackers but also others like Accursed Marauder and Lethal Throwdown. And when you have multiple sacrifice outlets you're encouraged to run more fodder like Reef Worm. The instant-speed ones are also excellent protection against bounce.
I'm surprised you didn't show Path of Annihilation, that card ended up with a 61.2% winrate which surprised me, I didn't realize it gave the mana tapping ability to not just your spawns
Malevolent rumble is like ancient stirrings in tron deck. The set is very permanent heavy so it is often just choose one of four. And it is usually even better than if it cost only G and not produced a token. I think its main downside is 4 deck damage which is quite relevant in eldrazi stalemates.
I always think it would help explain the 17Lands data if you said something like "The win rate for this card is 49.7, that's five percent lower than the 17Lands average," for each card, to remind people that all these stats are coming from higher performing players if they weren't paying attention to the main explanation.
Hunger Tide Rises needed a "give the creature a reach or deathtouch counter" added to it so it's not a 3 mana tutor that takes 4 turns and does nothing else but leave 1/1s around.
i even had chargebugs in my eldrazi sealed decks and they carreid my eldrazi to 7 wins xD giving an huge eldrazi menace often makes it impossibel for them to also dual block the bug so its just awesome
Opheomancer has always been a patron saint of Commander aristocrats builds. the disposable repeated deathtoucher really just distinctiveness players from trying to get in.
Saw Numot's video and saw abstruse appropriation being a little bit bugged. The autotapper doesnt allow you to cast the spell and in some scenarios it doesnt allow you to cast even if you tap the right mana.
I'm not doing amazing at this format on Arena, but I'm happy that most of the cards you over-rated, I didn't think were good. I watch nearly all your videos. Thanks for making them.
I was playing a blue green eldrazi deck recently, and had thought I stabilized against my opponent’s energy deck, since i had two pretty big blockers, but the chargebug gave them just enough evasion to get through for lethal. And yeah, I thought the same about gravedig. The flexibility seemed good, but when it was actually in my hand, I NEVER wanted to use it as just a 2/2, and by the time I had a creature in my graveyard, I’d rather just entwine it since I have the mana anyways
Did the Chrysalis really need reach on top of everything else? I don't think you graded them wrong, but I have been valuing the 3 color evolving wild variants in this format a little more highly than other formats, but only slightly. Being able to tap for colorless helps for the eldrazi spells and the extra landfall triggers they trigger have been useful too especially with Glyph Elementals.
Just realized something watching your video. If Satya (new energy commander) copies reef worm, at the end step reef worm token would be sacrificed (per mtg rules it’ll ‘die’) so it creates a 3/3. Rinse and repeat.
Chrysalis is so bonkers, I won a game where the opponent played it and hit me with it 3 times. I eventually drew the blue energy creature swapper and won with hia own buffed Chrysalis.
Chrysalis is one of those cards that used to cost 5 at uncommon and I'd underrate as 4/5 missing the synergy and ramp utility. I'd still get my ass kicked by people playing it, and that's all fine. I can't believe Wizards thought this was fine.
shit i just drafted my first selesnya deck and took 2 hydra trainers early thinking it would be decent, also I have none of the 4 mana adapters which give trample so it will probably be even worse^^
Writhing Chrysalis being a bomb really wouldn't be all that bad if other commons weren't underpowered by several stats. It's a card that largely showcases what would happen if players were allowed to build real decks with the packs they buy, rather than just combing for the rare and getting 14 coasters in half their packs.
Nah mate, this thing warps every game around it, like a bomb does. It gets so big so quickly, that you usually need a hard removal to get rid of it, but even in that case you still got 2 of those ramp tokens out of it. If you build your deck correctly, you just start spamming big fat eldrazis every turn and you can't stop them. And Chris at 4 is a big reason for that
Something that really hurts Gravedig is that it's a raw value card in a synergy-driven format.
As someone who was excited for gravedig, I see now in retrospect how bad it is compared to the raise dead from OTJ
Eh, for 4 mana you're essentially taking the turn off to set up. Meanwhile you could be playing Writhing Chrysalis on the same curve and be ahead on board.
Also it's only really a decent play in the late game, but you don't out value any other color as Black in the late game.
It served it's purpose for the aristocrat style decks that I was drafting, but it is definitely on the low grade lvl card for limited
Well Gravedigger loops was fun like 10 years ago in a Standard limited format. This is just overcosted Raised Dead.

Thanks so much! Obviously I put a ton of energy into RUclips, so this is always nice to here.
Yeah this channel definitely made me better at analyzing cards, even though he does Limited it helped a lot in my go to format

I love the content. You do a great job explaining yourself.

We love those Mythic Common bombs
I think part of it is that everybody is taking it super highly, so it has become extremely difficult to get it or other cards that go with it.
Reef Worm is also crazy with Cthonian Nightmare to create insane Maruader loops or whatever, but that’s really just an extension of your build around C grade because it’s still sacrifice synergy

even pauper needs rares
I'm surprised you didn't mention Volatile Stormdrake which you gave an F. It has a 58,7% win rate
Lol he Fd it !?! You can run it out on empty board. I had a Deck looping it with the recurring nightmare card
Damn that thing was great for me
@@ChromaToneMusicso what the interaction with the recurring nightmare card?

Pulled both Ophiomancer and Warren Soultrader once. I had so much fun with the both of them out! Make snakes, get treasure, profit!

I need a tiered list video of classes against other classes to how they stack up compared to everyone else
Malevolent Rumble has Kind of single handedly won me 7 Games in my Double victimize Deck
Green white has a ton of like 1 and 2 drops that are worth getting with the hunger tide rises but that's prob it's only home
One good thing about malevolent, it can grab a Chrisalys...

youve heard of the mythic uncommon, MH3 brought us the advent of the mythic common
The porn bots are out here colonizing lol

still dunnno why they gave writhin chrystlis reach for no reason when itw as already so good lmao
Chrysalis is such a nuisance. It has the highest winrate for any common in any limited environment ever, I believe?
In the Arena era, yeah.
I suspect Rolling Thunder and Pestilence were similar back in the day.
@@NizzahonMagicat least you can Dog Umbra the Chrysalis, even if it’s not the best value play. Sprout Swarming, on the other hand…
Save for Chrysalis, this is basically my all time favorite Limited format.
I have also been having a blast with it.
11:06 talk crap bout the reef worm now.....ull be crapping urself when u talking to the kraken later
If you don't know what Ophiomancer does you clearly don't play much commander ;)
Certified cube allstar as well
Woooo
Writhing Chrysalis makes this format not fun
Day 218 of requesting a name change of “Nizza Notes”
tl;dr: Nizzahon can't read good
Reading two cards wrong in a 300+ card set is pretty good!

I still find Chris is a B. It does not win the games on its own. No trample, not a lord. Cool for a common, but not an A.
