The fact that this game was inspired by Bushido Blade is a selling point for me. Considering i played that game and its sequel a lot back in the day gives me a clear understanding that one good hit is all it takes to end a fight. Almost as fatal, as making the wrong move at the wrong time leaving you open for an followup attack by an enemy.
In Japanese swordsmanship, kendo, they have this concept called as direct line alignment, basically means the shortest and fastest to strike is a straight line (direct straight hit). This character truly demonstrates the concept of direct line alignment and distance control, amazing.
Well, rapier styles in general tended to keep the weapon towards the enemy to make full use of its length and control the engagement distance. The particular variety she uses is the Spanish _La Verdadera Destreza,_ "the true skill/art" so named because its creator wanted to draw a distinction to what he called the "common" or "vulgar" styles being taught at the time, which REALLY leaned hard into that aspect. Also had the interesting quirk that its creator drew heavily on Classical geometry and Humanist learning for philosophy and inspiration and tried to apply a fair bit of mathematics to optimise the stances and movements. Which was bluntly put a bit of a pretentious affectation only too typical of the era with its raging hard-in for Antiquity but eh, it worked well enough. 🤷

As much as i love Destreza rapier in real life, i cannot make Marta works for me in game lol. Her thrust attacks compare to Marie is just...lacking alot of weight behind them

I tried Survival Mode with Malta this time and happened to win 38 straight games, but I still felt that Marie was easier to handle and fight the way I intended I will have to try Survival Mode with all the swordsmen, but I think Marie will have the best results!
I suggest a more defense and counter attack oriented mentality when fighting with Marta. Really embody the idea of getting your opponent to walk themselves onto your blade.
You gotta move on diagonals and use sidestep attacks constantly. If they are too focused on defending from your attacks that’s when to use her slow cuts which in my opinion are meant to be cancelled and rolled into more side step attacks and combos. As if when you finally have someone afraid of her long reach diagonals she’s saying, “is the what you expecting? No? Perhaps this? No? Or maybe this?” Move on diagonal Sidestep attack Cancel exaggerated cut attacks Sidestep attack! Use straight attack combos once you have them afraid to push buttons
The rapier (Ropera) is the weapon she is using, not to confuse with the stiletto, the ropera was invented and used in Spain during the golden age of Spanish Empire and duels for honor took place in the streets, all of them, to death.
That's the advantage of the rapier man. Long and built for thrusting so if you can't smack it out the way before you make a move then your screwed. And even then it's built to feel weightless so the weirder can quickly return to guard even after you smack it away.
Very impressive, I remember when I used to play For Honor I was playing brawls with my friend who was a master rank player like me. We went on a 36 game win streak and only stopped cuz my buddy had to get off. I’m still amazed by it. We went 15 games without even losing a round
The combat mechanics in this game are incredible. There's only a couple areas that feel like they need improvement. 1) Some finishes seem insufficient. A single glancing slash to the torso or jab to non-vitals might kill eventually but would be unlikely to immediately end a duel. 2) There don't seem to be bleed-outs or diminished performance on damage. Its hard to swing a weapon quickly with your sword arm shredded.
I did't know this game. As a fan of spanish Destreza, I have to say thar this character Marta, is using it quite accurately. The developers must have been very well advised about it. The finger snap 🤏
I’ve never heard of this game nor expected something like this. But wow!
@secretscarlet8249 Thanks for watching the video♪
Ouch! Her opponents really got the point.
I hope to one day see this on the Xbox. Its realism is so fascinating that I watch this and other videos a few times. Love those snaps as well.
Thanks for watching the video, The Engineer♪
I hope you will be able to play it on Xbox in the future👍
I really want this game in VR. I know there's stuff like Blade and Sorcery, but the AI in those games is pretty terrible. I'd love to see something that uses realistic techniques and presents a real challenge.
As someone who didn't know anything about this game or its existence:
Clicking on the video and the first match being ended within seconds was quite a shock. 🤣
the fingersnap after each kill is very much earned
This fell across my fyp and I was watching it when it plays automatically, and was like oh I gotta see this all the way through 😂
Thanks for watching the video😂
As much as i love Destreza rapier in real life, i cannot make Marta works for me in game lol. Her thrust attacks compare to Marie is just...lacking alot of weight behind them
Jake The Asian Guy Thanks for watching the video😄
I can relate so much!
I tried Survival Mode with Malta this time and happened to win 38 straight games, but I still felt that Marie was easier to handle and fight the way I intended
I will have to try Survival Mode with all the swordsmen, but I think Marie will have the best results!
No? Or maybe this?”
Move on diagonal
Sidestep attack
Cancel exaggerated cut attacks
Sidestep attack!
Use straight attack combos once you have them afraid to push buttons
La verdadera Destreza is just, make the opponent dance with his death, there is no much about trhust in the destreza, just atajos and counter attacks
The rapier (Ropera) is the weapon she is using, not to confuse with the stiletto, the ropera was invented and used in Spain during the golden age of Spanish Empire and duels for honor took place in the streets, all of them, to death.
13:21 was super intense.
Made the AI pic stand still as the safest option love it.
That's the advantage of the rapier man. Long and built for thrusting so if you can't smack it out the way before you make a move then your screwed. And even then it's built to feel weightless so the weirder can quickly return to guard even after you smack it away.
Most realistic fighting game I’ve ever seen
Very impressive, I remember when I used to play For Honor I was playing brawls with my friend who was a master rank player like me. We went on a 36 game win streak and only stopped cuz my buddy had to get off. I’m still amazed by it. We went 15 games without even losing a round
Congratulations, you did really well ! And like other people, I was sat here snapping my fingers each time you killed somebody haha =D
This just goes to show how advantageous reach is.
Bushido Blade was the last time I saw something like this. Cool.
marta always look like she gotta hurry home coz she has some baking to do for her kids.
based
Jolly good show! I never played the game but alas I was ENTERTAINED!!!
@hooray626 Thanks for watching the video♪
ever heard of this game before but these animations are superb
This soundtrack goes hard and the gameplay is mesmerizing
Bushido Blade remembers
The second opponent just walked into it. 😂
Only a true master could lose to themselves ❤
Love the physics on the fabric!
I've never seen this game before! Looks pretty interesting, so thank you poster and RUclips Algorithm lol
Dude imagine an open world medieval fantasy game with this combat.
I did't know this game. As a fan of spanish Destreza, I have to say thar this character Marta, is using it quite accurately. The developers must have been very well advised about it.
Fun fact: Spanish Destreza, or Verdadera Destreza, ruled Europe as sword figthing style by 200 years, from 1500 to 1700 aprox. It used a dagguer as well, called Vizcaina. The sword was called Ropera, knows as Rapier in France and UK
2:58 Damn there’s a vengeance against Feather-Hat. Every kill against them was so stylish 😭😭
Dunno why this was recommended on my algorithm…but I watched the whole video 😅
Rick thanks for watching the video♪
bro when I first played this I thought it was broken cause I went on a streak like this 30+ and then I lost on purpose and could barely get back to 10 lol. One of the best fighting games ever
