I don’t know why people dislike this recording. It’s faster than other famous recordings but venegrov creates so many colors in his sound, it’s really, really good. The sound quality I think perfectly fits the mood of the piece, the crackles and the constant buzz in the background gives it such a sweet, nostalgic feeling. It’s my favorite recording on RUclips
@@musicwizardtom There is a famous interview from Arthur Rubinstein where he says "One must be born with talent, that is the most important thing". The bad recording gives a sense of nostalgia. I like the the distortion, because it the performance feel like a mark in history. Also this is better than Hillary Hahn’s version sorry but it’s the truth.

1. Why do i have the impression that he's smilling during all the piece as if to say "yeah too easy man "?😅 2. Also like some people walk during their sleep, this guy just play violin while sleeping. It's the only explanation i found to explain that he seems to have his eyes close during all the piece.
@Joshua Thompson Yeah, this video was definitely recorded many years ago, but he doesn't look 15. That's besides the point of the comment though, he makes it look easy because of how good his technique is. Age doesn't matter here.
To all the people criticizing him. He is technical as perfect as nobody else. Just watch his Sibelius Vilinconcerto. He plays it without any wrong note(maybe a few that are not 100% in tune) and with so many different colours and emotions, and with perfect technic. After that the ysaye Sonata Nr. 3. again with perfect tune and technic. At the same time so dramatic. In my opinion his Sonata has to played exacly like he does. Back to this piece. He Interpretation is so Gold. I mean compare his ending with Hilary's ending or look at the move he does while playing the left hand Finger pizz.- part...

Harmonicos y pizzicatos a la vez! Oh, DIOS MIO! QUE TERROR! Siempre he considerado que esta pieza es la obra mas difícil de la historia del violín pasando por encima a los caprichos de Paganini, las sonatas y partitas de Dios Bach y las sonatas de Ysaye y Bartok. Tactical_Strike sorry-I know the feeling as a violinist as well. I tried to do the double stopped artifice harmonics - it took about 15 seconds to just sound one of them
Too many people say that the pizzicatos on 6:10 and the later ones are super hard… but the real hard part is the 4:38… it’s the only part when he actually opens his eyes and thinks it through a little to do it correctly, the other ones come on muscle memory but… that thing that is similar to a Bach fugue whit PIZZICATO AND HARMONICS is the real difficulty of this piece…
The recording of this quality kind of ruins the video quite a bit. That's why midoris version is probably the best now if it wasn't for the lack luster recording quality of this track.
All I can say… just don’t play like this… He doesn’t breathe, music need to breathe… it’s like swimming and not breathing, you need to take pauses, otherwise it’s horrible, like most parts on this video, we can’t understand what he’s playing..
