    Excellent video! I bought a house a few years back and the previous owners installed their own flooring. There is a very small gap about 3 inches long at the edge of the wall in one rooms (just like in the video where you said “if there’s a gap you can lay quarter round to cover it). Problem is, where this gap is there is already is quarter round installed :( Does that mean I have to rip up the planks and recut a new, longer length and reinstall the new planks to cover the gap?

    Nice video. I am going to be installing this product on a second floor and it will terminate at the stair nosing which has a groove to receive the tongue. How do I stagger the pieces that will be coming away from the stair nosing? I am thinking of cutting to the length to stagger and then running the away end through a dado blade or multiple passes over a standard table saw blade to create the top cover for the bottom connection of the continuing piece. Yeah that all makes sense......what say you sir?

    Would you comment on installing the last row? In particular how do you get it snapped in place?

    • @HelpingHand1
      @HelpingHand1  5 лет назад

      With the molding removed you should have enough room to snap the last row in place.

    • @califloorwalker

      You may also need to rip the last row of planks lengthwise in order to fit. Remember to include your expansion space in the measurement.

  • @charlessolbrig7107
    @charlessolbrig7107 4 года назад

    I have a question about the gluing? For floating floors Cali shows that the complete tongue and groove should be glued for a floating floor. Did you just decide not to do this, or do yo have a different type of flooring?

    • @charlessolbrig7107
      @charlessolbrig7107 4 года назад

      Oh, I did see an older comment that says "No Glue Required", I guess your flooring is different. I would think however, that the glue would impede the expansion / contraction, so I'm not sure why it should be done.

    • @teetom2740
      @teetom2740 5 лет назад +1

      Furniture is fine. Even heavy pieces can move with the floor. You shouldn't put this flooring under anything that is permanently fastened to the floor like cabinets. Just butt up to them and trim out the edge with base shoe or the like.

    Nice Video, my daughter and I plan on laying bamboo flooring my home. Is there a specific direction that the floor should be laid from the front door ? Meaning horizontal or vertical? And is it necessary to nail the flooring down or does it depend on specific kind of bamboo flooring ?

    • @HelpingHand1

      The instructions recommend laying the floor along the longest wall. If you choose a nail down installation, you typically install perpendicular to floor joists.

    • @HelpingHand1
      @HelpingHand1  6 лет назад

      If you're not careful the ends may slightly pull apart. The glue is essentially an insurance policy to keep everything nicely aligned.

    • @csn6234
      @csn6234 6 лет назад

      JustStuff Why wouldn't you glue the tongues along the sides? Not casting doubt on your approach or your knowledge, but in nearly every other video I have seen where the solid bamboo planks are floated, the installer says to apply glue along the sides and ends.

    • @HelpingHand1
      @HelpingHand1  6 лет назад

      Per instructions, no gluing is required. After this install I continued in to another room and didn't use any glue whatsoever. Just keep an eye on the gap between each boar as you install the boards. The glue helps to ensure there's no movement.
