Ive met my dad 2 times in my life. Now hes gone overseas to fight for a year and im afraid he wont come back. So i listen to this song everynight praying he'll come home in 1 peice and alive.
2 week ago in Afghanistan my dad celebrated 40 years in the US military. He has been a great inspiration for me to serve my country one day. God bless you Master Sergeant Joe Ward. Thank you dad for all your service and sacrifice to this great nation of ours. Love you dad.

My dad has served 3 years over in Iraq. I miss him a lot.. You know they always thank the troops for their service.. But they never thank the families for letting their loved ones go out and protect all of our lifes. I know we don't fight in war, or get killed but we lose family members too. We serve also. I don't know, I guess it would just be nice to hear "Thank you for letting your father do what he does" I mean I am grateful and I respect him for what he does.. But we suffer also.
Your father has a choice to stand up for the rest of us. Thanking him is thanking your family, because he represents every hard working, nose snorting, button-up shirt warying person in this country, and of course you and your family foremost. Thank you, and know that we do all appreciate your sacrifice, even though alot of us don't think of it.
I've served multiple tours as a ranger and let me tell you this is a powerful video. It still brings a tear to my eye knowing I'm now out of the army but my guys are still over there fighting without me. Most people don't realize how stressful deployments are. Not only on the infantry, but all mos's, and the friends and family who don't know what is happening. OPSEC is a word any soon to be first time deployer will here quite a bit. I suggest you follow OPSEC
i honor those who fought and are fighting for our country. my salute and absolute respect goes out to all of those soldiers. it takes a hell of alot of guts to be a soldier. nothing is more tough but yet so loving than the american soldier. god be with all soldiers and their families.

It's funny how we are fighting for freedom overseas, when we are kind of being stripped of our freedom here in the US. Still very thankful to live here though
I used to play miniatures games at a local comic shop and became friends with the only guy there that was as good as I was (every tournament came down to who won when we inevitably played against each other). It wasn't until after about six months and, during our game, his cell phone rang and he answered as "Sergeant Grigsby" that I found out he was in the Army. I'd just figured that the camo fatigue pants he always wore were part of his goth rock look along with the ear and facial piercings (he played bass in a goth garage band) but it turned out he was on active duty, working at the local recruitment office. Single father with a perfectly decent life, and when he found out his old infantry unit was scheduled for deployment to Iraq he requested a transfer back because he didn't want his buddies going into danger without him. This is a wonderful song and every time I hear it I think of Jay.

I'm not in the military and I sure as hell have no clue what it's like in there but I have a pretty damn good idea, just as any person could imagine of how harsh it is. I think that people need to write these kind of songs to help support the troops and give them the courage they need to help their country. You do not support out troop 100% if you believe that these songs should not be written.
funny story about the phrase "your prayers must be working" i was in iraq in 04 and we were sent to from Taqqadum iraq to fallujah iraq in support of the first battle in april and ended up spending the rest of my year at camp fallujah. were were construction engineers with heave equipment so when we werent working in support of the marines we would do project to improve the base. well one day i was at the ammo supply point pushing up berms around it because they kept trying to mortar it and eventually did hit it. but, wew were working there and took a break for lunch. shade is a premium in iraq so we kinda gathered up in the shade of one of our 916 trucks to eat they were sitting even with each other but about twenty feet apart and we in between them in the shade and here comes the mortars the first hit on the outside of one truck and exploded, the second hit on the other side of the other truck and exploded and the third hit right between the trucks but, it didnt detonate! after we stopped shaking the hole where it hit was smoking i went over to it and it peeled the casing back like a banana and it was laying around the out side and picked a piece up and still have it today! but, it was at that point when i realized we must have a million people praying for us! because of all the times i was mortared in iraq and it was a bunch! that was the only one that didnt detonate! so if you were one of those people thank you!
