She wanted to join the Swedish "IDOL " TV competition in 2014.
She wanted to make an impression on the judges on her first audition -
she wanted to surprise them with a song of her own that had a "hit" potential - so she came up with this song all on her own.
Needless to say that she knocked them out completely.
But it was a sort of demo version - just she and her guitar.
So nice to see that she was given the chance to realise her dream of turning
this song into a full fledged pop song - and a desent video as well.
But the winner that year in Sweden was Amanda Fondell.
Check out her slow version of "Hey Ya" - one of the best performances
that year.

One of the first songs I saved to my playlist 10 years ago. I still love it as much as the first day.
Wow - I stumbled across the audition of this on You Tube and was so taken by Moa and the passion, voice dynamics, tune and raw sincerity of this young singer who wrote the song herself, I watched it six times. I loved the judges reaction. Then I saw the text which said it went on to become a hit and I searched for it on You Tube. I knew a later episode of the Talent Show would have a mature and refined version and man, when the chorus came in with the backing and instruments, it gave me goose bumps too. The I searched for the published CD version and it was even greater still, with both studio and video alternates. I am a drummer and appreciate everything about this song including the lyrics - what a very talented 16 (Audition) -17 (recorded CD) year old Moa is. This song will be played often for year to come. All the best to this young lady for future endeavours in music and recording. Robert - Perth - Australia

You may have a point with the drowning out, but I think in this particular case the third chorus isn't powerful enough compared to the second chorus. The choruses from a lyrical standpoint are absolutely fantastic, and note for note one of the best hooks ever made to be honest, but the arrangement of the song is the problem. There's not enough difference between the second and third chorus for the latter to really stand out. Take a listen yourself at 1:33 and compare it to 2:36. For the third chorus, they've basically just added some very subtle and stereo-wide backing vocals and nothing else. That won't translate well. Heck, using half of the portable audio systems on the summer beaches or midnight camp fires (where this is ment to be played) and you won't even hear those backing vocals because they are so out of phase. Left channel will just cancel the right channel out. If anything, they should have added more variation. I'm thinking a string section and some variation in Moas singing so that it is not beat for beat the same chorus. To be honest I just think they copy-pasted her vocals from the second chorus and put it in the third chorus, so you've got the exact same level of sorrow and despair in her vocals and the instruments in both choruses, when they really should have increased it in the third chorus. More glissandi, more wailing, more aaahs and ooohs, hold the notes longer, bring in the harmonica earlier, even a little more active base guitar could add emphasis to the rythm and hook, etc. You want to go from a "man this is really good" in the second chorus, to "holy friggin shieeet this is fantastic" in the third chorus.
Still loving this song, there is substance, shadow, and it's real. Came from one heart and went in to mine. Diamond in the rough.
I just saw her audition on Idol and I remember hearing this video. Unbelievable that it doesn't even have a million views, it's so good.
I didn't just get goosebumps like that dude in "Idol" but I acctually got tears rolling down my cheek hearing this for the first time. Pure Genious. Brilliant !!!
