Thank you Deniss - now here is a more complex question (taking your previous video on frequencies into account). a) Do the different Caps take other Caps frequencies into account (avoid using the same fequencies by different Caps) or is this a manual planning effort? b) If i want to increase/decrease signal strenght - how do you do this properly? For example: i want to reuse 1 frequency but want to lower signal strength from the attic Cap so it does not interfere with the signal strength from the kitchen Cap. Thanks for any advise.
Sorry the newest winbox4 look like ordinar web page, contrast is the worst or shape of fonts makes this effect. How long winbox 3 will be supported? Btw thanks for film 😊
Sadly the caps mode reset button hold never works for me, I have to go in and tell the device to reset its config to CAP. I wish you guys gave us an led notification that it's actually in Cap mode when doing the reset press. I never ever get anything past the blinking after the first 5 sec it goes back to blue. this has been on 15 cap ax devices in a row. but reset config to caps mode works 100% of the time.
Hi, sorry for the question because I dont know much about networking. What is the difference then I make all ssid and passwords the same manually? can it act like the mesh network? transfer the user to the strongest access point by itself without user noticing it? or is it only, putting the same setting to all devices at the same time?
IMHO the problem with the manual option you described is that the transitions between the networks will be less smooth as the client device will try to hold on to the connected AP for longer. With CAPsMAN it switches to the strongest AP sooner (or so I think).
Is there an easy way to send DHCP addresses on my cap Clients from specific pools per CAP? Then it is easy to identify which client is connected where. Or can I route different networks per CAP easily? 10.10.1.0 for CAP 1, 10.10.2.0 for CAP 2 and use separate DHCP servers? For all others, please make a video for AX roaming topic - FT function. Nobody knows and it works great in my opinion.
I have three mikrotiks, specially Mikrotik cAP AX, but i want to connect with a wireless mesh, cause wired in my home is a little difficult. I would like a video with simplest Setup Mesh Network, specialy in wireless mode, not wired.
In the provisioning tab change the "Name Format" field where "%I" can be used to change it based on the Identity (/system/identity) for the CAP. I have set it to "%I-2.4Ghz" (for the 2.4GHz radios) and "%I-5GHz" (for the 5GHz radios) so they show up as "FBIVan-2.4GHz", "FBI-Van2.4Ghz2" (cus we have 2 2.4GHz APs) and "FBIVan-5GHz".
Now it's time for new home AX access point devices instead of old cAPs so that we don't have to use routers as APs (or the only cAP AX which is overkill for house coverage) 😏
@@shaunclarke94 No, this is Winbox 4. They ported it to Linux, MacOS, and together with that they needed to create a UI works all around resulted in a really very bad UI. Especially if we compare to Unify. Pff. I think all of us expected that not only the hardware and software is great, but it will get simpler to configure. No, sorry, you don't get that! :D
Very nice if I don't have capsman with 5 mikrotik hap ac 3 and now they are compatible with hap ac so if I want I need to buy all new network so no thanks
Keep it realistic. RB5009 is not a WiFi device. 2.5G + 2xSFP+, matching one of the switches is more realistic but “Wifi7” + 5G + 100G port and all for free is the kind of thing nobody reasonable would deliver
@@aliancemd But the 2.5G ports would be welcome, at least on some more expensive devices like ccr2004-16g-2s+pc for example, 2x 10G is nice but all the rest is just 1G, sadly.
What is the use of a WLAN-router in the basement? 8x2,5GbE with POE, 3x SFP+ for NAS/Servers/Switches would be a good starting point for SOHO/KMU. And the CRS354-48P-4S+... needs an upgrade to 2,5GBe and dual Power supply.
Yes, I tried everything, and this video is absolutely useless. It is better to explain to me, how to connect Cap Ax Ap to Hap Ax3 router without an ethernet cable. I need to expand my Wifi network in the house without wires, how in this case on Router OS 7.16+ set a wireless connection between the router and all Ap's using Capsman since WDS is no longer available on the latest updates. Share some guides or instructions of how to, cuz now all this capsman functionality looks weird
Please also make a video on CapsMan VLAN with multiple cAP' AC & AX
This is awesome, thanks! Would love more advanced CAPsMAN videos!
Would be great to show a mix example where you have ax, ac, n cAPs together.
This. And, also what to do with RB4011 routers with built-in WiFi.
... and multiple SSIDs in different VLANs, and roaming (802.11 r/k/v) among virtual APs at the same SSID.
And also how to use mesh with capsman since is almost 2025
Excelente explicación mi estimado. Haz más videos de Firewall Avanzado de MikroTik ❤

Yeah, but if i need to connect cap through wi-fi backhaul? How can we manage this ?
You make Wifi Bridge and connect CAP somewhere on the other end. It works.
Hi, please change color schema and maybe font for the new winbox. Is very hard to use it like it is now
Can you allow cap devices connected by mesh Instead of only cable ?
In step4,i don't have the xmb,smb,these two lines,RouterOS v7.16.2

Roaming works if centralized management via capsman is used. Single Access Points can't do that.

That creeped me out too!! I am adding that to number 11 on my list of ten on how to better secure a network.. lol. Love my Mikrotik hardware!

it doesnt' work, what a bunch of crap
I hear you… I’m pretty close to dumping this crap in a dumpster and switching to ubiquity
The wifi said names are a bit unprofessional to use on your channel.
Please show how wpa2 and 3 are used on different ssid
It's completly professional. Anyone can name their WiFi as they like.
