Definitely amazing, so long as you were a straight, white Christian man with money. For gay people, minorities, independent women, atheists and/or the impoverished it was pretty fucking dismal back then.

Took my girlfriend to see this movie in the theatre. Every time I watch it I’m transported back in time, sitting next to her… holding her hand. She was so, so special! Magical time! Thank you, Kathy!
The 80’s were blessed, anointed, ethereal, iconic, dreamy, heartstring-pulling, new, tearjerking, otherworldly, fresh, love-filled, pleasant, beloved and so very, very deeply missed.
If your formative years were spent growing up in the 80's like mine were (I graduated High School in 1984 @ 17 years old) then you lived in the greatest decade ever. There will never be another time like the 80's. I would have hated being born later and missing it. 56 now and all I think about are those days and how positive they were and how Pop Culture was incredible.
I can't believe that movie was 37 years ago.... I swear, it just seemed like a few years ago that VHS tape was played in our living room, on a Saturday night.
When you find a moment in time that is just perfect, never assume it will always be there, enjoy every second. The 80’s were simply awesome and I’m so glad I lived in that time.
I was born in 1981, so for me wonderful memories... of home, family. My mp3 is full of 80's music and I often cry because I've already lost both parents and I live abroad. I send kisses to all lovers of this music because the 80's are beautiful and can bring beautiful people from all over the world together in one moment - we are one big family 😘❤️
There's an age where people just look beautiful, at their peak, and this is about it: That late teens to early twenties. Man, how I wish I could go back to being that age again and with everything I know now.
...annnnd...back to the future mom... Lol! Why did so many 80's actors use 3 names? Made it more to try to remember. 😵💫 Jennifer Jason Leigh was another, Daniel Day Lewis, Anthony Michael Hall...good grief! Back to this gal though, she issss ...Mary Mary Mary Liz Laura Martha...why the hxxx can't I think of her name!? 😂
Lea Thompson! But I cheated. And sad to say I would not have remembered her name otherwise. She was a great actress, too. Funny. But her name just doesn't stick. 🫤
My all time favorite ending.. When the boy picks the girl he's meant to be with and not the girl he "thinks" he's meant to be with!! Also love the fact that "Amanda" isn't afraid to admit it either. Love, love this movie!!

One of my favorite movies growing up. This one seemed more relatable. Less silly. Great soundtrack. John Hughes was great with the teen themes. God bless. Even though I struggled with my teen years in the 80s, I loved the music. I miss being young, and having that excitement with life. Having boyfriends. There's few things more exciting than getting ready for a date when you're young. I guess now in my 50s, I will try to get excited over other things. I'm not dead yet. Lol. However, my teen years are still fresh in my mind. Love you Mom. ❤
Born in the early 70's and raised in the 80's. My parents always said, "this is the best time of your life" and they were right but I feel bad for my kids because I can't tell them that. I'm 50 and I truly believe mine was the last generation where kids could just be kids.
Been thinking I need to tell my kids (in their early 20s) live in the moment, yeah you're young and broke and making your way, but looking forward all the time is a great way to miss your youth and what you ALREADY have ... Before you know it you're 60. "Your Life is Now" . (John Mellencamp)

I´ve been running all my life
From the things that make me feel alive
Running away from all my dreams
Until the day one dream ran away from me
Now, feeling it out there
I gotta take my life and live my youth
I don´t care what they say
Thinking about you
I gotta face the fact I´m not with you
I´ll miss you til the end
I´ve got the tape player on
As I drive right out of town
I know you said we always fight
But just hear me out one more time
Now, feeling it out there (feeling it)
I gotta take my life and live my youth
I don´t care what they say
Thinking about you (thinking)
I gotta face the fact I´m not with you
I´ll miss you til the end
They say I´m out of touch
And this is all way too much
But I can still hear you say
It will be ok
Now, feeling it out there (feeling it)
I gotta take my life and live my youth
I don´t care what they say
(You know I don´t even care)
Thinking about you (thinking)
I gotta face the fact I´m not with you
I´ll miss you til the end
(You know I´ll miss you til the end)

one of THE most underrated movies. Sob.... : )
The song lyrics mean so much. It's important to reflect on what is being said. Sounds like the writer has to leave because his dreams are too big for his girl, and she couldn't or didn't want to come along. As much as I'd love to agree with this sentiment, being someone who has really started to shine in many aspects of my life, from finance, careers and... romance. I would like to emphasize that the most important things in life are the people we live our lives with. And don't take my word for it, because it is the wise words from the dying. Don't let your selfishness overcome what matters most in life, even if it doesn't seem like it now, but some day when it's all over, and you've come back from the adventures of life, who will be there to say, "welcome home?"
