Here is Pop's day at physical therapy video! (LONG VIDEO)
READ CAREFULLY!
Remember we could have lost him in the hospital if things went more south so to have him back being his old self (with a lil bit of inevitable loss at that age that comes along with it)...we as family members couldnt ask for more. After all...we LOVE him and he LOVES us....it just comes with a side of grouchy and stubborness and cantakerousness. So remember...this isnt easy to do for Pop (or us as family)...but he has got to do it and try to get through it the way he wants to and also endure the self humility that he may think he goes through while doing it.
Another day with Pop on this earth is not just another day...its a day that we get to see him and hopefully be able to share him with so many folks whose lives him and Nan have touched in such a short time.
So remember...open your mind...find some levity..even under all the grouchy bravado......this is the MAN WE LOVE!
Pop and this guy have a pretty close bond working with each other so during the video you can see Pop winking at the camera letting me know he is having fun. Plus they play off each other well even if it doesnt seem like it.
It takes a VERY special and important person to be able to do what Physical Therapist Brian is able to accomplish with Pop...now obviously we know Pop isnt the most accomodating and responsive to this kinda thing so we think what Brian is doing is absolutely wonderful. What you dont see off camera is Pop and Brian laughing back and forth with each other.
Like i said...it takes a dedicated and special professional like Brian to be able to accomplish results that we have seen so far.
This is genuine Pop...no special effects, no script, no live audience...just Pop being Pop...88 years old trying to make it another day....and family towing the rope to keep pulling him accross the finish line.
So sit back...enjoy...find humor...find memories. Its all we got!

Love watching Pop. You are doing a great job with your dad. It reminds me of my mother and I together. She reacted the same way with her physical therapist. She would give them heck but when it was time for them to leave she would thank them and tell them to be careful going home to their families. Dementia and COPD finally got her, she went home to be with the Lord February of 2021.

Pop reminds me of the seniors in the rehab hospital I was in when I was 24-25. I had 3 hours of PT a day, and the seniors patients were always griping at the therapists about doing anything. One day I wheelchaired myself down the hall and took the elevator down to the PT room for my last session of the day. They had went to my room to get me and couldn’t find me. They said, “We’re not used to patients coming down here on their own.” I was trying to get the hell out of there, and it wasn’t happening until they said so. 😆
