The Tuning Show is how we from EchoSoundSculpture found to present to you a little bit of our world, friends and everyday life in our workshop. Headphones recommended. 720p HD for High Quality.
Sam Maher is a West Australian instrumentalist and drummer better known for his unique playing style on the handpan. His first 15 months with the instrument was spent traversing from New York down to the Patagonian region of Argentina, surviving mostly on the money he made on the streets. At the end of this trip, a video surfaced of Sam improvising with the unique instrument in the subways of New York City, which went on to reach over 28 million people online. From humble origins busking on the streets to documenting the instruments powerful effect on humans, Sam has now collaborated and performed his boundless music all over the world. PanSiam will be his debut appearance at a handpan/pantam gathering.

Maybe try this exercise: before you perform, sit and quiet your mind; then surround yourself with love, the love you feel when you play the handpan and send out the love to the people you perform for. When you just feel love; don't feel judgement.
Sam, I don't judge; I and we enjoy what you do! We are so happy that you love what you are doing and we get to watch and listen. We honor it as a gift to us. We should not judge a gift that you have given to us.
Awesome interview! No offense intended, but I'm glad Danny didn't show. I knew of him before you of course, but he sounds like everyone else. Your NY track is like EVH's "Eruption" for handpans. It absolutely blew me away when I first heard it years ago. It still has the same effect on me today. If I had been walking through the subway that day you were there, not knowing the sound of handpans, I would have totally thought someone was playing their Electribe or some other beat machine. I can only speak for myself. But for me, you're the most inspirational handpan player out there. That NY track alone is so next level it's going to take people years to catch up. Thank you for the incredible music.
I am astounded how you (and others) flow several pans like they are one. I have a pan and enjoy the sometimes joyful noise i get from it. Great interview!
