No? He was gonna be it for a long time, due to him and Arteta being Spanish, Arteta is just being biased and not realising that Ramsdale is the better goalie
That's because it isn't. The video is a nonsense on this point. In fact it's one of his strengths. There are very few keepers as comfortable on the ball as Raya.
@@Garybaldbeestrength? I saw atleast 5 or 6 mistakes from his short passes that led to goal in this small highlight video. Good knows how many more words he had committed. He would be a massive liability at any big club that tends to play out from the back. If that's his strength, then I don't even wanna see his weaknesses... 😂😂
@@JD-mc3bl Raya is one of the very best keepers around when he is on the ball. Its not for nothing that Jürgen Klopp said he plays almost as if he is a number 10.
One of the difficulties in making a goalkeeper analysis is that the stats which truly reflect the quality of a keeper and expose their weaknesses are few and far on the ground, so what other GK focused stats would you like to see be invented/made public? Ramsdale for example suffered in the stats we had available despite the eye test suggesting he produces some remarkable passages of play & his long balls lead to 2nd balls won within 2-3 seconds, and thus ends up at his team mates' feet albeit it'd be deemed as an unsuccessful long pass.
Ye that's true, Ramsdale also causes throws to be won because the opponent feels the danger of what's close to him so heads it out of play and it'll be deemed an unsuccessful pass -_- Hmm unsure for GKs but for outfield players I'd like to see which player's passes causes the quickest possession loss for team mates time wise, that way we can see who plays hospital balls to team mates 😆
This was a great goalkeeping video in a longtime since you criticized De Gea in the world class video. I think you should build on this video's success and do more. In your opinion do you know any young goalkeeper outside of Ter Stegen that can surpass Manuel Neuer and in the process become the GOAT like yashin, casillas etc?? When it comes to goalkeepers, i think we should give them more benefit of doubt compared to other positions because of their circumstances for example emiliano martinez. Once again well done.
I have a suggestion for you for the next video. In the next transfer window lot of the top clubs will be out for a Striker. Can you make a video focusing on strikers 1. Osimhen 2. Vlahovic 3. Jonathan David 4. Ivan Toney To name some.... Consider other potential options too. Make a video comparing their qualities and potential and which Clubs style of play suits them.
Great vid as always I have some suggestions on the next video 1. Benoit Badiashile: I feel he has a lot of potential 2. Romeo Lavia: I see him as the next big thing in midfield even higher than Pedri if he joins the right set up 3. Victor osimhen: I think he’ll definitely join a top level club this summer and I want to have a glimpse on how he adapt Wonderful work in your videos by the way
i'd love to see an analysis on the importance of players who can go through multiple lines in the center of the pitch forward wise or back. Like the one you did about De Jong. These movements are so important. Especially today that everybody want to play from the back in teams with players who only go vertical or forward. It is not a request for a specific player video and his attributes but the functionality in a team's movement, even if it's based on a specific player/team. Thanks for the great videos, i hope you become n1 footballing reference in youtube. You deserve it.
Yeah you got this one wrong mate. Arguably the best ball playing league in the premier League. Rest of the analysis very good. He was tailor made for an elite club like arsenal after the initial rough start.
Interesting analysis, especially regarding Raya's often-touted passing game. I was surprised when I saw all the Opta stats at the beginning instead of Wyscout like usual. Do they not have some GK stats that you're looking for? As an aside, regarding GKs, Chelsea are probably one of the few top teams where the #1 spot is uncertain in the long term. Many speculations have been swirling around about the club going for a new GK in the summer. However, with how well Kepa has performed this season, do you think he has shown enough to be trusted as the main man for a possession-oriented elite team in the CL? Or have his nightmares from 2 years ago permanently put doubts over his abilities? Speaking of Brentford, you once did an analysis of another one of their players, Ivan Toney. Seems like you weren't very impressed with his first season in the PL. But Toney has somehow kept up his impressive G/A record this season with 14 goals and 3 assists in 21 league games. This has ignited some links to bigger teams for him (before the incoming ban). Have your opinions on him changed? Or is Toney yet another case of a big fish in a small pond? Anyways, great job once again! 🤗
Tbh his short passing isn't as bad as he makes out in the vid. I watch Raya every week and his press resistance has improved a lot which helps his ability to make better short passes. I see keepers like Alison, De Gea and Ramsdale play themselves into trouble way more often than I do Raya, despite watching them far less and them all being keepers who play in teams that are pressed back less often. Ramsdale against city showed his passing weakness when he kept passing short to his CBs who were already being pressed, then clapped them after they hoofed it out of play when the long option was available to him all along.
I have a suggestion for you for the next video. In the next transfer window lot of the top clubs will be out for a Striker. Can you make a video focusing on strikers 1. Osimhen 2. Vlahovic 3. 1 year later and his shot stopping isn't outstanding but it's consistent. He makes about 1 or 2 big save a month. His passing from the back is a lot better than it was at Brentford and his ability to beat the press is fantastic, at first he was shaky but every week in the new environment he improved. His penalty technique is much better as well.

Did you seriously just say that Raya panics with the ball at his feet? I’m sorry, but that’s bullshit. Since we came up there have been literally only a few instances where he’s made a mistake and it’s usually because no one in the defence has got themself into a good position to receive a pass No offence, but it seems like you’ve just taken a look at the stats and watched a tiny bit of him play. Because as someone who watches him week in week out, and has watched the majority of his 150 games. So much of this just feels like crap. He’s an incredibly confident goalkeeper, and considering that our defence isn’t usually that helpful when Raya has the ball, he does an incredible job. He has two weaknesses, penalties which is a tiny part of a goalkeepers job and he’s just an average PL shot stopper. Compared to other goalies in the Prem this season, he’s been at least the 2nd or 3rd best and no one is better with the ball at their feet in the league currently
We watch full 90s and not just clips. Obviously for the sake of these videos, we can't post an entire 90 or a passing comp but what we saw was a keeper whose long kicking is exceptional and any mid to long range passes, he looks very comfortable with ball at feet. From short passes we saw a keeper who is ahead of say a DDG but compared to the best in the business yes he does look more 'panicky' and less likely to have the capacity to be involved with elaborate short passing combinations from the back. It is true that this may be a shortcoming that is exacerbated by Brentford having less technically gifted ball players from the back which is something we alluded to in the video but he did make a lot of poor judgement calls himself and the stats also confirm what our eye test observed - so 2/2 backs up what we are saying vs your 'bullshit' claim, so I would rather trust our own judgment. Proof will be in the pudding when he goes to a bigger side. FWIW he has been making less errors this season but IMO ultimately his short passing game isn't as impressive as his longer range game.
Hugely insightful like always. Could you please have a look at Diogo Costa? From what I've seen, I think he can be really good in future.
