    What is the scope of Actuaries after 5 years because Automation is taking place very fast in many industries?

    • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  6 лет назад +1

      Snehal Sakkargi accounting has to die first. Actuarial science will need to widen the scope and still the skills would be required to develop the platforms to automate the work.
      Till then, there is enough work in the profession.

      Hi Suchit, most of the companies employing actuaries have a study support program whereby you get leaves for studying, exam fee reimbursement and increments on passing the exams. So you can start applying for jobs and in the mean time, you can appear for exams on your own.

    Hello. Congratulations for your success. I am in final year of BE(E&TC) and I am an actuarial aspirant, appearing for ACET this april. I would like to ask to the above statement you have mentioned,:- Most of the people whom I have met till date, who have cleared 2-3 papers or even all the CT series cleared, they are suggesting me to go for UK than India because they say that papers of IAI are tough than IFoA UK and so on. What would be your suggestions in this regards, preferably to me who is starting his career in actuary in his final yr of graduation??

    • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  8 лет назад +1

      My recommendation is to pass atleast the CT series while being in India before thinking of going overseas. You can appear for both the India and UK actuarial exams while being in India. In today's scenario, getting a job overseas without qualification is quite challenging, so do take utmost caution in deciding whether you want to go overseas.

    So, could you please suggest me what to do in the mean time while I get suitable job.

      Hi Dhruv, You are right in saying that the demand-supply has changed significantly compared to previous years. Since the students have increased, and a lot of them are clearing CT series while in college, it's not advisable to stop the exams. Keep giving the exams and looking for a job simultaneously.

    Hi,this is probably a dumb question,I'd like to know if there have been cases of ppl outside the UK you know of or heard of who got scouted or hired by co.s in the UK while going through the (IFoA) CT series or after they completed it?Second question is how realistic is it to write more than say two exams during one of the two days tht these exams are written in a year,what i mean is how realistic is it to write say more than 2 CTs during one exam period?I ask this because I have a mathematics and statistics degree and doing computational finance at the moment,so i went through the topics of the CT series and I'm familiar with the majority of them and some of the things seem far too managable.
    Thank you!

    • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  8 лет назад +1

      Generally it's difficult to get a job in UK while being overseas for students. Once qualified, it's relatively easier.
      For your second question, I would say if it's easy for you, you may take even 3 exams. However with the difficult ones, I would advise not taking more than 2.
      All the best!

I've passed CT3 from institute of actuaries of india and i've completed my graduation in commerce last year. I'm planning to do my masters next year. I want to ask you that whether i should pursue MA in economics next year from delhi school of economics, which is one of the best and reputed colleges of our country or should i just concentrate on giving actuarial exams & securing an actuarial job. It will be really helpful if you could give me your advice on this.

    • @Fornikhil

Since there are a few companies here in delhi that employ students with one actuarial exam passed for which i am eligible.

    Thank You Sir.

    • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  7 лет назад

      Certainly, Actuarial Science is difficult than Engineering. However, in engineering, you are more or less doing complex mathematics which makes it easier to follow the mathematics in actuarial science. Economics is generally available as an elective course in most engineering programs, and thus that too helped.
      Even financial mathematics is there as one of the subjects in engineering in which Actuarial Science helps.

      Hi Anupan, you can apply for public insurance companies through their annual recruitment process. They have a written test, followed by interview. Keep an eye on their websites as they do publish the dates quite in advance for the recruitment process.
      As far as moving to general insurance is concerned, companies might prefer candidates who have passed CT6. There are no set rules for recruiting as such, keep applying to various job postings which are published.
      All the best.

      There's no harm in pursuing MSc at Cass. However be mindful that getting a job as fresher in UK is quite difficult and thus only go with the expectation of studying and not finding a job after course. That should be an added bonus only. Hi Arun. If you have keen interest in mathematics, you can certainly take up actuarial science. You can appear for ACET after 12th class and then do UG in statistics or mathematics.
      It'll be better if you decide between jee and actuarial science sooner than later. Both are ivy league, but its more about your interest. Read more about actuaries to make a decision.

      Graduation in Statistics is generally complementing to actuarial studies. You can do your graduation from any reputed colleges either in Delhi or Jaipur or elsewhere where you feel comfortable.
      There's no harm in leaving exams in between but generally not advisable. However, if actuarial exams clash with university exams, then certainly give preference to university exams.

I am a newly qualified CA, now i am aspiring for CFA and expecting level 1 result in this month.I am also going to appear in FRM examination both groups in Nov 16. I have heard that if someone has CFA and FRM charter then his11 papers got exempted out of 15 paper by London school of actuaries .If someone got charter by this method his signing capacity is same as someone who cleared 15 papers ? If i am member of London society then can i become member of Indian society too ? and last one is what is major difference between FRM and actuaries ?
    Thanks..

    • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  8 лет назад

      Hi Rohit, I just realised that I had missed out on replying to you. My responses go as below:
      CFA (I, II & III) would give exemption from 5 CT subjects: CT1, CT2, CT3, CT7 & CT8.
      Being a CA, you would get exemption from one ST subject, you'll be given a ST0 pass and thus you'll have to appear for only one other ST subject.
      FRM would also make you eligible for ST0 only.
      Thus you'll get 6 exemptions, rest you'll have to appear from the Institute.
      For further details on exemptions, refer: www.actuaries.org.uk/studying/exam-exemptions/how-apply-exemption/exemptions-based-other-professional-qualifications
      Yes, if you're member of IFoA, UK, you can become member of Indian Society too.
      FRM focuses on Risk Management whereas Actuarial Science focuses more on estimation of future financial outcomes. Risk management is one of the many things that Actuaries do. Thus you should decide the scope of what level of depth you want to cover and which area you would like to work in. They are not competing professions.
      All the best!

    • @drkInxgud
      @drkInxgud 7 лет назад

      depends on what you do. actuarial science is, in a nutshell, a branch of applied math that utilises various areas of statistics and probability theory to model insurance and pension business (traditionally as now a days there's a wider use for actuaries) and help making decisions in these businesses. some examples of things you will deal with often is stochastic modelling , generalized linear model, asset liability modelling. the part that that IT kicks in is often times, calculations and modelling will be done via statistical programming languages like SAS and R. obviously you can do the same things via languages like C/C++/C# so it will be easy to transition.

      You'll be qualified as an actuary only after completing all the exams. Getting a job is not only dependent on the number of exams but also your overall aptitude. • @Fornikhil
      @Fornikhil  5 лет назад

      1. Under Graduate degree would be quite helpful. It's not mandatory but highly recommended. Post Graduate degree is optional.
      2. IAI is itself a regulatory body for actuaries. Every institute has some or the other form of the marking system. You should focus on clearing the exams and not on the marking system. It's the same for every student appearing for the exam.

      2. IAI website and online forums. Actuarial magazine is also helpful.
      3. Quite vague question, be specific. Read IAI and IFoA website about the profession and opportunities.
      4. All fields are equally rewarding. General Insurance was a bit more rewarding until recently but the supply demand scenario is quite matched now.
