    Great content. Very well detailed. But there are a couple of red flags I would like to raise being an Actuarial analyst myself! The money isn't as great as people claim there to be. First, any person from a good Bschool or any other professional for that matter (CA, CFA, etc) earn similar numbers. Secondly, though it's subjective, but exams aren't that difficult as he claimed it to be. The process of clearing them is rather more difficult because you have to juggle between work and papers, which sometimes takes a toll.
    Nevertheless, the course is great for the kind of knowledge it contains. So if that's the purpose with which one wants to join, great choice! But take the salary numbers with a pinch of salt :)

      Hey Abhay, thanks for this! Super informative, hope everyone can benefit from this!

    • @dontreadmyprofile7118
      @dontreadmyprofile7118 3 года назад

      Hello @Abhay sir. I wanted to ask how much time does it usually take to become an actuary after clearing 12th? Some say it is a very lengthy process and this makes me doubt whether it is worth it.

    • @abhaylath5601
      @abhaylath5601 3 года назад +7

      @@dontreadmyprofile7118 it really depends upon the person. As you know there are 13 papers, a person who is consistent can easily clear the first 7 in the 3 years of graduation. Post that it depends on the kind of company you join and the workload you have. Balancing papers with work is somewhat tricky. Although, I usually see all my peers who are consistent and determined to clear the papers asap, clear the rest of it within 2-3 years of work. Coming to whether it's worth it, it all depends on the kind of skills you want to attain. The salary numbers remain like with that of say top CAs and MBAs (with a few years here and there)

      @akashbhowmik7993 3 года назад +2

      @@abhaylath5601 Bro how do you see the prospects of an Actuary working outside insurance. Like a combination of Eco(hons) from a mediocre college +CFA+Actuaries, would that anyway take someone to to the hardcore Quant Fin type roles ? ...

    • @abhaylath5601
      @abhaylath5601 3 года назад +1

      @@akashbhowmik7993 if you want to get into core finance jobs only, the better way to go about would be a cfa+mba. Actuaries have all the skill required for all fin jobs (even more so than CFAs actually) however the market in india isn't aware about actuarial skills and hence being an actuary it's difficult to get core fin jobs. Moreover being in a fin role, you'll have no motivation to finish all papers to become a fellow (since fin firms won't sponsor your education and won't give you increments on your actuarial passes) and will likely drop actuarial moving forward.
      Completing actuaries and then getting an mba to get into fin could also be another way of doing it.

    I'm a student of 11th class. Commerce with maths. I just came across this course and I'm extremely interested in it. The only thing that's keeping me a bit...meh about it is that it would probably take like 6 years (minimum) because 3 years graduation and 3 years job experience. Ik I'll start earning after graduation which is a plus point but I'm thinking like... If i become satisfied by my package or smthing bfr 13 exams and i end up not giving sm exams then... Then I'm almost a nobody? Like I'm not recognised? After finishing 13 exams I'll be an actuary but if not then I'm not recognised at all... So idk that's a big thing ig? I'm a bit confused about the packages too. Like what would be the starting salary after graduation like after clearing 3-4 papers and what would be after being an actuary.. like after 13 exams ? It would be so good if u could help me with that :)

      Yes, there are Universities that provide courses like Bsc in actuarial science and MSc in actuarial science. The completion on which gives you exemptions from the Professional body. I believe there is programme in Hariott WATT University in Edinburgh, Scotland. There are many such programmes, the details of which you can find online.
