In the old days, .doc was a very proprietary format that only ms word “knew how to describe”. One of the few good things that came from the predatory monopoly trial of Microsoft was the .xdoc format, where softie was dragged kicking and screaming into describing their format in XML, which they used to change with the seasons to keep any competitor from being able to deal with it. Only Apple’s QuickTime lawsuit (where Apple found their source code embedded in the heart of “windows media” actually saved Apple from softies predatory behaviors though, the government’s lawsuit against softie really didn’t do anything to them except force the monopolists to use XML as a document format.
A great intro! Thank you! My only minor nit is that I find the poster behind your head distracting. I spent the first several moments of the vid hoping you would lean to one side so I could read what it says :) Great presentation, I've pushed all the bells and whistles.
Thanks, Mike! And thanks for pushing all the bells :) I'm planning to do a lot more here the second half of the year. The sign says "Raise Hell, Kid" and I totally agree that it's absolutely trash placement 😆 Thinking thru some possible ideas for updating the background. I'm definitely open to suggestion!
Hi Chan. Would you point out how you’re able to get the prompt to auto complete with a list of options the way you show at 6:00? I think I’d like to try it out but after a search I didn’t make much progress.
Do you know how to customise the appearance of code chunks. I want to the code chunks to be more separate from the rest of the text. For example I would like the code chunks to have a different background colour.
Amazing video! Thank you so much for taking the time to record this. Love your setup!
Thanks so much Jamie! Can't wait to see how the book comes out!
